I would love to do the same as you with strawberries on the top tier. Then next some tumbling cherry tomatoes, with a mixture of basil and marigolds and rocket leaves directly underneath those to help keep any beasties away. Dwarf French beans under those and a mixture of radish, spring onions and beetroot. I'm keeping everything crossed. 😊

Well done, a well deserved award. It just goes to show how many people appreciate the hard work you put into this channel. With your help I've become more confident in the garden, bought tools and planters such as the quad grows that I never knew existed. If I was to have a Greenstalk I would attempt to grow Strawberry's and Cherry Tomatoes. I especially like the sound of the Pineberry Strawberry's. #GROWTOWERSWITHELIANDKATE

I always look forward to your videos and I was super thrilled to hear about your award! Well done Eli, I bet you’re pretty proud. 🥰 I have been jealously eyeing up the planters for a couple of seasons now. If I had one I would grow strawberries and herbs to keep close to my back door. Having my strawberries closer to the house may deter Mr and Mrs Blackbird tucking in to the sweet delights. I’m sure they will find a way though and I’m happy to share as I love their singing. #growtowerswitheliandkate

I was just thinking how more people in UK and Europe need to know about GrowTowers after you told me about them a few weeks ago. I cannot wait to get my hands on a Greenstalk, been eyeing them for years. I already have my planting plans for the Leaf planter! 😅 There are some flowers on the top tier, to make a floral crown, maybe alternating with strawberries. Then I have various lettuces, kale, bok choi, chives, chard and various herbs. They'll be used as cut and come again, so they're not getting too huge and I'd also love to sprinkle some micro/dwarf tomatoes among them.
Congratulations on your award! Standing (or rather, sitting at the moment) on the American side of the pond, I surely think it's well deserved! And as another Greenstalk owner, I'm so excited to see them traveling further around the world now! Good luck to everyone on the contest!

Congrats on the CHS win, Eli! So glad to see you're getting recognised for the efforts you put in to teaching gardening (although I know that's not why you do it). I've been in envy of your tower since you first showed it to us. I have a small garden and 2 young kids, so grow space is really limited and I've failed completely to grow greens, salad stuff and pak choi/tatsoi for the past 2 years in a row - they've all been eaten off by slugs (the dog ran off with the beer trap - don't ask...). I don't have the space for lots of pots or stands, so I'd just about given up on ever being able to grow these things, especially the pak choi over winter. Kids would love a tier each, I'm sure, to grow their own things too. So fingers crossed, because something like this would make a huge difference to the grow space in our garden (and slug defences). Anyway, thanks for sharing the ideas and I hope to do some more grow-alongs with you this year! #GROWTOWERSWITHELIANDKATE

My daughter is a new gardener last year was her first year. Her garden is in Leeds and is very shady with several trees and so is a slug and snail haven. She would love this to grow her strawberries, salads, tomatoes mangetout and also spinach in. Wondered if I left lid off would rain drown my plants if it'd been weather like Recently and its better left on then water refilled from my can or if u allow rain warer to collect in top reservoir? Hope that makes sense

They don’t come with the lids, you can buy them separately.
I’ve actually got another greenstalk that we’ve set up to be smaller and I can see the top…. So I’ve bought a lid just cause it’ll look nicer…. But I am thinking …. Would it be better to leave things open for the rain?

If I had a grow tower I'd grow all of the things my two young daughters particularly love to eat and cook with me - strawberries for our sweet snacks, little gem lettuce for our packed lunch wraps, garlic chives for our scones & savoury baking, basil for pesto on our pasta. They'd love to be able to pop out to the garden to grab the freshest of ingredients! Oh, and at least one rainbow tier of flowers, just to make me smile!

If I was lucky enough to win a Greenstalk Grow tower leaf I would cry seven tiers of joy. I would alternate strawberries with edible flowers like Nastertiums, helping our friends the bees. The tower would be a beautiful sight, fully edible and help nature.
