I just realized today he would have made an amazing Mr Rochester. The shame! The wasted opportunity! Why didn’t anyone cast him in this? Especially when he was in his 40s-early 50s. He would have been so perfect for that role!
Alan Rickman is a brilliant actor. The intense subjectivity of his gestures is as charming as they are so smooth and delicate. The way he moves his eyes, his eyebrows, his hands, his face, his body, his lips ; everything is so controlled but so gracious and light that it seems done without thinking but I'm truly sure that he is doing it on purpose. When he is on the screen he's so magnetic you have to look at him, he gets your attention with his subtle gestures, He is captivating. What a pity I'm not a native english speaker I don't get everything he is saying with his british accent and watch his movies without his unique voice is just a great waste. His face at 0:46 ; 1:58 ; 2:30 -2:34 ; 3:06 ; 4:02 - 4:10 is priceless XD
Alan was classically theatre trained. It would seem his intricacy in his dialogue, movement and body language was indicative of that. Your description was perfection. Alan Rickman was indeed exquisite❤Xx
@@draxlerchronicles5851 if it was my baby i'd be crowing from the rooftops and never let him/ her forget it. I don't think the baby was on the cast list so may have been a girl.
I loved this version of the Barchester Chronicles and every actor perfect for their roles. Nigel Hawthorne and Donald Pleasance were also incredibly good.
He looks a bit like Benedict Cumberbatch here. Also, did anyone think the way he spoke to the baby was really creepy? Brilliant performance from Mr. Rickman, nevertheless!
Notice how his outfit is very much like his outfit in Harry Potter? Huh...I think I found the original Severus Snape at his actual age. Imagine if he had been this age when he was cast for the role of Snape!! *swoon*
The first time I saw Alan Rickman was in this series. I thought he was superb. That Obadiah Slope was such a sleazeball. It was not too long after that I also discovered how overwhelmingly sexy he can be.
@smile673 Well dear, I love him too since I saw "Die Hard" (1988)... I remember myself saying "Oh!, that evil Hans is too much hot...and what a voice!***
No he would disapprove of you wasting your time on the internet. He would disapprove of everything about you. he ended up marrying a rich widow and forming a very restrictive Chapel
this is great! I guess all those years of work are what allowed him to give Snape such depth and breath! Funny that Dan said Snape was the role of Rickman's lifetime and Rickman was probably thinking you have no idea how much work I've done but I still think Dan was right !
Who would have thought sexy went with slimy? - I had the chance to see Alan Rickman with Lindsey Duncan in “Les Liaisons Dangereuses ” at the Ambassadors theatre in London in the eighties, after seeing him in this series. If rich, smooth dark chocolate had a voice, it would sound like Alan Rickman.🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫
The smarmy Obadiah Slope. I have this on DVD ,a marvellous BBC production, from the days when their period plays were outstanding. Nigel Hawthorn ,Donald Pleasance and a cast of fabulous actors and actresses.
Can't believe I wasn't even born then in this moment when he is walking around wearing his sweet words on his sleeves seducing women... Rickman sir if the sad reality is not that your consumed years of living in this life is not much more extended even in comparison with my father, I'd love to walk this sweet path with you to heaven...
Have seen Alan Rickman only in Die hard and, sure,in HP movies. Havent been his fan till the last autumn. Weather was awful, mood was awful and i ,suddenly, decided to watch all HP movies again. It was time, when i rediscovered Alan Rickman,It was time, when i found that he passed away. So...now i try to find his old films, watch them and try to understand this wonderful actor a bit better. It seems,he preferred roles in romantic movies. Do i right? For me,he is as a villain much better. It looks like he didn't like to play villains. What a pity!
li Tanja It’s not that he didn’t like to play them. It’s that he didn’t only want to be recognized for only those type of roles. His approach to playing those characters was that he didn’t really think of them as simply cardboard cutout villains. He was more interested in what motivated them to do the things they did, no matter how evil.
@liamath1 Ahaha! The first film I have seen was An awfull big adventure, and I liked it very much!I was in love with him in that movie! Now I am crazy about him!!xD
G. Chatterjee Well, JK Rowling supposedly thought of Rickman while writing the book. I don’t know who decided that Roth should play the part but thank goodness they were overruled.
@liamath1 I love him,but in this video he is too young!ISince 1990 he is very handsome and sexy!I like his blond hair, his voice, his face! He's amazing!

Alan Rickman stalking! He can stalk me anytime...as long as he speaks at the same time...:)
That baby met Alan Rickman and probably doesn't know it
As he'll be nearing 40 I seriously doubt he's unaware of his thespian past.

Sad day, when another beacon of brilliance leaves this certainly darker world.
Alan Rickman 1946-2016 RIP
"beautiful woman you can not pretend to ignore that I love you!" O.o
Alan Rickman is Sooo Attractive in this!
When your name is "Eleanor" and you hear Alan Rickman profess his love to "Eleanor"...
I was born in 1982. Is it weird to have a crush on a man who's older than my father?
I was born in 2000 so I wouldn't say you're that weird. :)

@smile673 Yes he is, or better say he was...He was 36 in 1982***
WHAT
Well, Snape was actually made for him, since it was written with him in mind. So........
Yet the role was first offered to Tim Roth.
G. Chatterjee Well, JK Rowling supposedly thought of Rickman while writing the book. I don’t know who decided that Roth should play the part but thank goodness they were overruled.
Tim Roth was the right age for the character. Snape was meant to be in his thirties. Alan was in his fifties when he started playing Snape.
Did Alan just say the name Helena???
