    I do like this vessel however there are a few things I would definitely change.
    1. Change the flybridge to a fiberglass hardtop
    2. Put some handholds / grabrails around the cockpit for the rough water this yacht is supposedly built for.
    3. Put some pan holders around the stove - as above.
    4. Have the owner / agent bother to at least make an effort to tidy the boat up for selling it.
    5. Spend more time with the Goodest Boy m
    Did i miss a mention about her top / cruising speeds?
    Great video John.

    Hello, I have mentioned this before and asked for your comments, but I think that there are a couple of things that tell me that this (and many other 'explorer yachts') are not actually designed to spend weeks at sea. Firstly, the galley has no rails around the cook top or prep area. This would make cooking and preparing food in anything other than the most calm of conditions when at sea or when alongside, just about impossible. Secondly, the lack of freezer space. For any long voyage a boat would need at least a couple of large chest freezers for vegetables, bread etcetera. Thirdly, the lack of dry storage space for other consumables. I suspect that this and many other similar 'explorer yachts', will spend most of their time alongside in a marina somewhere sunny. Most meals apart from breakfast will be taken in restaurants at or near to the marina. I know from personal experience that most of these large and expensive boats are only used at weekends and rarely leave the marina. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy watching these videos and looking at the boats, it's just that I am sceptical about them being used for long sea voyages. I would love to hear your comments on this.

      There are no fiddles on the work tops etc, and worse no obvious handholds in that very large deck saloon. Passage making in anything approaching 4m Hs would be “interesting” to say the least!

      This is a heavy Cat A ocean going vessel with a bulbous bow that reduces pitch significantly. She also has a very good stabilization system as well. The boat is designed for long distant voyage and is equipped to do so in comfort. Yes, of course in rough seas you’re not going to be preparing a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, but to suggest that this vessel is somehow lacking for long hauls is ridiculous. Fiddle rails, gimbals stoves and pot restraints are not as necessary on a boat like this as you think.

    • @lapsedluddite3381
      @lapsedluddite3381 Před 25 dny +1

      In addition to the lack of handholds in the large living spaces, I noticed the plethora of sharp right angles in the furnishings just laying in wait for a misplaced shin or hip.

    • @lapsedluddite3381
      @lapsedluddite3381 Před 25 dny +1

      @tonybazz53 - Admittedly my trans Atlantic voyages have been under sail, so I have no far offshore experience on motor yachts - but I can't imagine even making tea or coffee in that galley underway in a blow, no matter what sort of stabilisation systems she has.
      One can see as she sits now that she currently spends her time tethered to the marina, but perhaps they're just sorting things out to prepare for the sale.

      @@tonybazz53 i agree tony, that this particular boat infact can do and others like it probably do as well cross oceans or traverse heavy seas but their unsaid point is, these boats are less geared towards heavy weather and more towards fair weather leisurely boating. which i agree with. 65hrs engine time speaks a lot in and off itself. i wonder how many hrs did they run generator tho.

    The yacht is very nice, well laid out with a thoughtful design. I was happy to see the fly bridge control actually have some form of protection from rain and spray. Most seem to them open to the elements seemingly. As for your guest, beautiful dog meaning the boat is pet friendly. The bridge was not cluttered, it very functional, most of the small boats I was on and helmed were ships wheels, throttles and that a compass. Then your general knowledge of the coast, with a paper chart. Times change. Peace😊

    Always interesting when you compare yachts in the 50-80' range. If you look at a Bering 70 vs a Princess V70 or a Fairline 68 even, they are so radically different. Then you look at a 70' Viking fishing yachts, obviously a purpose built craft, but still, it's 70' with about the same accommodations for passengers and crew, but also something so different and I think in that size range, the purpose of the yacht really becomes the most critical factor in making a decision, more so than any other yacht design. A fishing yacht, cruiser, explorer, pleasure craft, flybridge, commuter yacht. That size it is so critical to decide what you are going to be using the yacht for.

    Nice solid build for a seagoing family/operators. Crew might be a problem. Cold storage for extended voyages unseen?. Shame about the engines though. I have had dozens of Iveco products and never found a good one yet and I would be here all day listing the issues though having said that they are well known and spares as a result are easy to source across Europe. No mention of battery power so I guess the genset is going to be worked a lot.

    John, as a potential 24/7 live-aboard, I like the sense that I could have complete confidence in the thought that she gives me absolute freedom with her ~3000nm capability. With that in mind, does she house a blackwater treatment plant?

  • @brokerhc

    This boat has an incredible layout for its size. I assume that the hull is made of Aluminum which allows her to have a good navigation range for its weight. Question: In the main cabin's Port side, was that a door to a day head? I did not see good freezer and fresh storage for long passages. I would also add a water maker if possible and maybe switch the canvass top in the Flybridge for a fibergalss hardtop to place some solar panels on top. There is room in the Lazarette for some lithium batteries and related equipment.

    This boat is confusing - while the hull and superstructure are very seaworthy, the interior spaces definitely are not. The helm is open to the saloon, with no visible means of blacking it out for night running (must the guests stumble around all those sharp corners in the dark?)
    Using the galley in any sort of weather would be ... interesting ...
    There are no crew quarters or pilot berth...
    The list goes on and on....
    She's perfect for marina life and coastal cruising at best. I'd run her down the US east coast ICW, but would probably not consider the same journey offshore outside (which I have done delivering an actual working trawler to Florida from Maine)

    Surprised there isn’t a crew space on such a vessel……..🤔 not that I think I would want it. For such a hull volume the cabins seemed a tiny bit small and I assume the separate heads and shower in the bow, serves all three cabins ? The master cabin seemed a bit small as well…… However, I think it’s probably par for the course with an Explorer style boat, along with small portholes and a lack of the huge hull windows on the more “gin palace” party boats…….

    Outside of being a nice looking explorer. My main issue is the lacking electronic equipment right off the bat. Example 1. No analog bilge lights on a ship diagram mounted above helm or anywhere. There is no secondary system on board, i.e. GPS, nav. Or autopilot. Redundancy is the most important thing on an Explorer yacht. No back to the video.

    I like the color inside and outside but the helm area with white ceiling and walls will have a glare at night driving and i don't believe I have a boat that has bright white ceiling on it. I thought the master bedroom was to small, why didn't they build it with a full beam. That boat must not of had enough warning to give the owner time to straighten up or to make the beds properly. It could really do with a womans touch because it had the show of a single guy that hasn't gotten the chance to think about getting his future plans in order.
