Cool video, very easy to watch. I did my first 70.3 last year - also at Outlaw in Nottingham. Really great event and very good atmosphere - best of luck with it! I am exactly the same as you with longer rides, I find them so hard that I end up just watching the miles and time slowly tick by and don't enjoy it. One thing that did help me last year was to choose a destination I wanted to get to, like a place I hadn't seen before or I like, then cycle there with the intention of just seeing it and maybe having a coffee there before returning. It made me at least think there was a point to the endless miles.
Thanks so much dude, really appreciate that feedback! I’m glad it’s not just me then 😂 a few people have suggested picking a a new destination to get to, to be fair just thinking about it now it excites me more than just thinking I need to do a long ride! I’m definitely going to give that a go think, thanks again mate! Really appreciate it
Make your long ride to somewhere. Nice cafe for a coffee, pub for a beer. Make it an adventure. Change it up every week.
Yeah that’s a good idea, I never tend to do that! Thanks mate, going to figure out some nicer routes to some places haha
im the same - weirdly i don't mind running the same local routes, but i find cycling around my local loops tedious on my own. just monotonous. podcasts help - get a good series on the go. And pick a cafe or somewhere to aim for to at least split it up a bit.
Yeah I think you’re right, I’ve used podcasts as they definitely help! Think the cafe stops or somewhere to aim is the next thing to try!
I personally think the route makes a big difference. Maybe try and vary the routes if you aren’t already. Maybe add a halfway pit stop to grab a coffee or something.
Yeah I reckon you’re right, I always end up doing the same loops because I know the roads and distance but it does get very boring 😂 and I never stop for coffee or anything either haha, next long ride I’m going to take your advice! Thanks mate, appreciate it!
@@LewisFordham I also need to take my own advice lol I do the same as I know if I’m on for a good time or not because I know the route. Also I don’t stop that often because I feel like I’m wasting time but generally those rides are just time in the saddle so it’s irrelevant on how fast I’m riding, to a certain extent anyway. I’m going to start changing it up! Keep up the videos and insta, I follow you on both. I’m training for my first 70.3
What’s your road bike? And are the bars standard or add ons?
When I was doing long rides I would tend to go with someone to make it better. Only thing is the tempo can be more then an “easy ride” because you all push each other 😂
It’s a Boardman something or other, had it a while now! Yeah they’re different bars, most people would probably tell me I’m stupid for doing this but they’ve held up fine for me but they’re from AliExpress haha!
Yeah I think having someone to ride with would be beneficial, until like you say, it gets competitive haha 😂 need to find some people who like to ride slow! 😂
Hi
Hi
How long is your longest foot in cm?
I’m not too sure dude!
@@LewisFordham I need the info for size reference in shoes!!!!
