- In this video we set the Quarter Stick Shifter up for a three speed automatic. Then we install the shifter into the car, and modify the cable bracket to fit the transmission which has a cast aluminum oil pan.
Recent subscriber. Enjoy watching someone close to my age. I'm also building a 56 Chevy gasser, so these videos are helpful and motivating. Glad you give in-depth detail. Looking forward to more content!
Thanks for the comment, be sure to look at the 49 gasser playlist as there are a number of these type of videos there.
@@ThrottleStopRacingsome of the older how-to's from the basement video era might also be helpful.
thank you so much for this video it helped me out a ton! guess ill get up right now and go put my shifter on
The getting up is the hardest prat after that it is all down hill.
Another great video thanks so much, im still working at straight axle segment lol, next pedals, Aloha
Always good to hear form you, and I am certainly happy you liked the video. Currently loading up this week's video.
Good idea to thru bolt it to the floor. With the seat belts on will Anne have any trouble reaching the reverse lock out lever with her left hand?
Yes, but she should not have to reverse with the belts on. Good question.
I've been keeping up with this and love the work you're doing. Genuine question - I thought gassers had to be manual transmission cars. What class are you planning on running with this?
I will be running in a Gasser class at Empire Dragway. They allow a trans-brake so yes automatic transmissions are allowed. Thanks for the question.
@@ThrottleStopRacing That's really cool, thank you for the reply
Hello. As I am not familiar with the transmission and gears of your Gasser, is 3rd gear considered 'drive' as for normal?
Yes sir, third gear would be drive on the gear selector. In the 1/8 mile we most likely will never see third gear.
How important is it to set the shift cable length with it in neutral? I bought an unfinished project off a guy. 2004 Sierra with th400 swap. Originally I couldn’t get it to engagePark. I set the cable length by using park on both the trans and shifter, but now, I don’t seem to have a neutral position on the shifter that give me neutral on the trans. Could setting my cable ship in park be the issue? (Just happened earlier today, so I haven’t tried resetting the cable length yet). Thanks to anyone that can provide any info on that. Great vid too!
I would think that it was very important. If the shift cable shifter and trans lever all be in park and your cable length set that way, the other end of the range (first or third) could be out of range???
