- This week we are using a BARN FIND Porsche 356 to help us make an unobtainable cowl! We use the English wheel, planishing hammer, flexible shape pattern and more! Our goal with our videos is to document the process, share what we know and also provide entertainment along the way. If you enjoyed this week's video, please drop a like so we can continue to keep growing and afford to increase quality, have longer videos, and eventually be able to do two videos a week!
Thanks for your support, friends!

You're a great instructor Ryan! I've always been interested in metalworking, and you make it even more fascinating. Thanks for explaining what you do.
Would be great to see you guys do overseas collab with our Dominic Chinea and his 356 build. Loving the content.
Why?
@@brickcity9mm896well done
You are a magician, Ryan!! I could watch hours of you forming metal. Some people like rainforest or waves, I like the sound of metal working. Keep killing it, gentlemen!!
Love that you can just template and fabricate basically any part of a Porsche - rare talent 🔥🔥🔥
You are doing a grate job. 👍🙂
Excellent video and great work guys their are so many cool channels on CZcams I love watching wrays channel and yours and also Dominics channel fitzees fabrication and Karl fisher to name a few ♥️👍
Such a cool find! Hreat metal work as always!
Cool Dr Sues car
Doing a 'flexible shape pattern' as Wray from ProShaper calls it, as others said 3D Scan technology but I like the more organic tape pattern! Restoration Design do some amazing panels but most exterior panels are speedster based Inc the valance, I assume their next step will be A coupe panels as the other is developed! Nice work.
Happy to hear you giving @Wray Schelin's proshaper workshop the credit Wray deserves for the flexible shape pattern. I personally would have also made gages, but to each their own.
Just incredible! Your metal working skills are amazing. As always, Thanks for sharing Ryan

Brilliant as always. The German term scuttle comes from the British name for the panel, which is “scuttle panel”. So now you know! I could explain why it’s called a scuttle panel but that might be too much
The stories in those storage buildings must be incredible. Do you give tours?

Spray the 958 rear section template in the background black, put some LEDs in it, and fling it in the corner of your study….
How many brains does one Ryan has?
That was the first car of my ex father in law. He drove from Switzerland to Hamburg to see the concert of the Beatles with my mother in law.
i challenge you! do a mix of modern and old, 3d scan a panel like that, cross section the scan to get your profiles to match, as well as make press molds from 3d print to vise press the metal with 3d printed areas like were the area like the fenders and wiper cowl meet. and then wheel and planishing out final adjustments. prob not the most time effective cause your amazing behind the wheel of the English. but i wanna know if it can be done, it may be a method others can use if they dont have the room for the equipment you use
What do you say to a great teacher. TY guys
How about a 50k sub special, visiting Wray at Proshaper in Charlton? 100k? You tell us, we’ll tell our friends.
Restoration design make the reproduction front scuttle for 356 pre-A and 356A.
We called and they do not make a scuttle for the 356A
356's looks a little durpy , unless they get the outlaw treatment .
In german it is called: Windlauf
"Good thing", you used a ROTA BROACH!! Huh?
Almost surprised you didn't scan the whole thing, render it in CAD then print 3D moulds to create the part from.
Its always handy to have a pattern to follow. Good grief , that car is totally orgasmic , people dream about cars like that barn find ,,, well I do .
But really you only made the top section , no returns on the edges ,,, has to make life easier .
Absolutely!
