In November 2016, we created a ride that was not for the faint-hearted or small-minded. This ride dirty fingernails, white knuckles and growling engines. It was custom bikes, original rides and independent spirits.
Starting off at the hills of Victoria to the wide open coast roads of Queensland covering 2500kms. Our travelling group rode into small towns and big cities and wreaked some serious fun.
In the true spirit of Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins, our group of riders found the freedom to be themselves and test their character, and their bikes, on the open road.
why all this hate?! i don't care if these guys are "real bikers" or not. They are enjoying riding their bikes and i'm totally cool with that.
GoshuGoshu agreed they are risking their life to do it, so they obviously love it. And that is all that matters. People need to chill, I bet these guys dont even have bikes because I do and I just think of these people as people who understand the world I love of motorcycles.
Amen to that G, I've been riding for over 40 years ,never owned a car,ride all year round in sunny (2 days a year) Britain.
Do what you want,make your own choices and lead your own life. Some like to ride in groups,join clubs,ride old bikes,flash bikes,sports bikes,tourers, sunny days only,down to the local cafe or across the world and everything in between. Why should anyone else bother? I ride a ratty old 600 Bandit that I've owned for 5 years and prefer to ride alone. What others do doesn't interest me,their bike,their life and if they enjoy themselves good for them. I've got a mate who did less miles on his Kawasaki Cruiser in 7 years than I do in 2 months,it's not a competition and he got as much enjoyment out of that bike while he owned it as anyone else does from theirs. I see plenty of posers around when the sun's out with expensive bikes they polish more than they ride but even then,I don't get their mindset but I don't need to,if they get a kick out of it it's their money,their choice etc. Too much hate and judgement in this world not least for totally ridiculous reasons like what kind of motorcycle someone rides or how they choose to enjoy doing so.
There having more fun than most of the the bikers i know & that's what it's all about.

I finally found something to put on my bucket list. I'm 64 , been riding since the 7th grade , have been riding all over the USA and was getting complacent. Now I have a goal to shoot for. A cross country ride in Australia ! Thanks !
Really enjoyed the vid. I'll be 67 in June. I've been riding since I was a kid. When I'm not riding I'm thinking of riding. This definitely reminded me of younger days lol. I still have four bikes that I ride.

I've watched way too many Motorcycle videos in my CZcams lifetime, and this by far takes the cake. Love the dynamic, the cultural representation, and the cinematic collaboration as a whole. I swear to god, you better do another one of these...

That was absolutely fantastic, probably the best thirty minutes I have spent on Youy Tube for a long time. The freedom, creativity, individuality and friendship was phenomenal, the ride awesome and the whole thing truly summed up motorbike riding.
I have done these roads in a bus with student’s twice now and I spent the entire trip on both occasions wishing I was on my m bike. Thanks for the docco.
I'm a crusty veteran rider and I don't do the group ride thing, but this crowd look like they are having a ball for all the right reasons, go easy on the rum unless you like riding with a head clanger!! More power to them.
Great little film how I envy you for the space and climate. Very hard to replicate this in the cold wet and very over crowded UK. How I wish I'd moved to Oz when I had the chance 30 years ago. Keep the videos coming as they cheer up UK Thruxton owners pushing 60.
Thought it was about a guy named Jerry who was a really good rider, or had to overcome some stuff and found a love for motorcycles.
Not disappointed though. Even if it is a commercial and not a documentary.
Glad to see the route that they took included smooth and rough roads, Dirt and potholed roads. Beautiful country that will be missed by faster riders.. Excellent.

A pity AUS is so distant; one always feels at home in Brizzy, been there twice - not on two wheels unfortunately. And you just watch the doc, aussies are really great, everybody's welcome. What more can I say.
Enjoyed your video, being a (old) biker. Great to see youngster are picking it up, the bike virus. Myself, I also enjoy old sporty open three/four wheelers (anything up till the mid-'30s)... as long you remain a free spirit & explore, like what you all are/were doing > keep doing it, great!

It is funny hearing older bikers complaining about younger bikers. I heard the same thing from road cyclists bitching about middle aged men getting into cycling. At the end of the day we all like to find a group that fits with the lifestyle we choose, and if it is a motorbike or a road bike than that is a choice we get to make. We may interact with the machine and the culture differently to other generations, but I don't see how that makes anyone less valid as a motorcyclist or road cyclist. No culture is exclusive to a particular generation, the argument has no grounding.

To all the haters, I know, you are the only real bikers on the road. Good thing that there are so many roads out there, so I think everybody gonna find a road to ride, alone or together. Hipster or not the video is great. I would love to see more of this :D

Glad you all enjoyed yourselves. I have done the same with perhaps a little more adventure. Great stuff. However, it was a little tiring for this to be only about personalities instead of the subject, which was the ride. People raving on about themselves when you have never met them has limited interest. I had to turn it off after 12 minutes
Been riding for 60+ years. I don't give a thought to the age of the rider or bike. Put on your gear and fire it up. I like riding, if it isn't raining, I'll be on my bike or piddling with it. I'm not envious of others' bikes-I ride a 2012 Speedmaster mainly because I had a bad crash years ago- car driver backed into the highway and stopped. I ran really close to Evel for the number of broken bones. Couldn't handle the weight of the HDs and when I found this one- I was still in rehab but determined not to walk away. This one is a picture of a cruiser- low solo seat, bigger rear tire, front fork is stretched a few degrees, aluminum wheels. It just fits me now.

The new riders of today remind me of when the surfie scene changed. Now it's bikes and they are so clean. Clean hair cuts, tattoos, nice clothes. They are having fun l suppose. Hipsters Mods what would you call them. Are they the reason our speed zones are dropping

I can't believe this crap that I am reading. I have been riding motorcycles for over 40 years and yes this is a promotion for sailor Jerry but it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor or whatever world you come from,if it's got two wheels and it brings you peace in yourself and you enjoy what you are doing then shut up and ride. I don't care about what people think or say about me when I ride,that's not what it is about.what it's about can't be explained and if you ride and I mean really ride,you will know what I am saying.if you don't then get a motorcycle and go get lost on it for a few days and then you will understand.

It's been said in the comments before but I feel like giving my own two cents as well... I don't really understand why these guys and gals get looked down on by people who at least implicitly call themselves the "true" riders. I'm the same generation as the guys in the video, and yeah they may be hipsters, but that doesn't diminish their passion for riding. It's just as true and fulfilling for them as it is to those in the comment section who complain that they saw someone using a smartphone during the video, as if that would prove anything about that person's actions or attitude. As if they were somehow at fault for being born in 1990 rather than in 1960. Stuff like this says a lot more about the people commenting than about the ones being commented on. When have bikers become so elitist and exclusive? Isn't that the exact opposite of the "Freedom" and the "Community Spirit" that are so often hailed among riders? Those things that we all hold sacred lose all their meaning if people start excluding each other based on imagined distinctions, which makes the whole standpoint impossible to defend.
Shouldn't we all be glad that the torch is carried on by the next generation, who share that passion and fire of the old one? In the best case, shouldn't the old generation take to the new one and show them their ways, rather than acting as if their own experience is somehow superior and more authentic (whatever that is actually supposed to mean) than theirs?
The more you think about it, the less founded in reality this pedestal of "true-ness" actually is. The miles the young ones ride are just as real as the ones the old folks did.
Well, Stephan, I bet if you asked if you could ride with these people, you would be given the the arse. That is of course if you didn't have the right bike, the right tattoo, the right beard, the right job and drank the right rum.
@@jimmyjazz240 that actually goes counter to my own experience with the "hipster" crowd. The evidence is anecdotal, admittedly, but I for one experienced this flock to be very much on the inclusive side.
