    Finally, an actual review with comparison. It's getting harder and harder to find reviews that claim a comparison but never actually show anything useful. Definitely considering the runners up because I won't risk a fan failure. Passive cooling is always the way to go.

    I bought the cougars for my 17 Nissan Rogue. They are quite a bit brighter than the OEMs. They fit perfectly and I have had them for a little over a year now. I did have to aim them down a bit though. I tried several other cheap Amazon bulbs in some of my other vehicles and I've been most happy with these. I know they're cheap, but I've been happy with them and would recommend them to others.

      Dont be afraid of those with fan if you want your led to be bright, in most of the time those with fan are the ones that can push that brightness, which is the main reason why we are switching to Led, for a brighter light. And in most cases fans are hardly the cause of a led failure.

    Upon your review of the Hikari Ultra H4 LED, I went ahead and took the leap on my first pair of LED bulbs. I installed one of the bulbs on my CBR250R motorcycle and boy I’m astonished. The low beam cut off is pretty sharp, close to the stock 60/55w Halogen I was running in it before. The beam pattern is as stock as it could get and I had my friend ride my motorcycle to see if it glares, and it does not!
    I wish both the low and high beam emitters could function(only high or low can function at one point)
    Also, the bulb is rated to draw 26w, but provides fantastic illumination.

      Hi Old Timer! We noticed during our testing that some LED kits have a yellowing to parts of the beam. It appears to be coming from the yellow LED itself. Kits that have quality LEDs like Philips don't seem to suffer from this. We tested one of the Lasfit kits and they didn't perform well, towards the bottom of our chart. Check out some other brands for better performance, and look for 3 or 4 small LEDs in a row on each side, instead of just one, as that mimics the halogen filament. Thanks!

      The thing with lasfit is which series you get, the L1 and LC6 are the cheapest and will give you a little better than halogens. The LA series would be the lowest end I would go, much better light out put with good beam pattern, the chips are placed correctly to mimic the filament placement. The top end LS series use the lumileds Zes chips and work great, near perfect beam and great down road light with a great hotspot. One size I had a hard time finding a correct replacement for was a 880 for my fogs, the chip need to run left to right with them facing up and down, only found two manufactures that make them correctly and that is morimoto 2 stroke 2.0 and eisenke, so if you need that size then they are it.

      @bigtruck guy you definitely get what you pay for. I bought a cheap set for my work truck just to see if LEDs would even work, 2018 F-150 , Ford's are known to have some really wierd issues with LED lights since they use PWM on some vehicles, strangely even the same model can come different ways depending on options, I also have DRL's that can not be turned off. seller had a discount code for $30 off so they ended up being $15 so I thought why not, amazingly they work and are such a improvement over the stock halogen crap bulbs they come with.

      The fan is to keep the diodes (LEDs themselves) as cool as possible for optimal cooling. It depends on the brand, but what we have seen from lifespan testing is when the fan stops working, the diodes go into a low output mode (but still work). The output is just reduced to some degree.

    I just installed the “Lasfit “ in my 15 Silverado. I will be testing them tonight BUT, there is a cover that fits over the lamp housing that is not able to be put back on because of the depth of the led. And being fan cooled, if it were to fit, there would be no air space for circulation. Just an FYI.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  Před 6 lety

      Hi Gary! You may want to look into an aftermarket dust boot cover for your truck. I would recommend keeping the cover on in order to keep debris, moisture, etc. out of your headlight. The LEDs with a fan actually don't get too hot (around 90F), much less than a halogen in fact, so the fan is really just cooling the LEDs themselves, so even in an enclosed housing you don't have to worry. If you run a fan-less LED type you'll want to be careful as we tested those to get up to 160F+. Thanks!

    Thank you for the review and link to your chart. Between Amazon and Ebay there are too many to chose from. Real numbers help alot. I'm converting to LED and not looking to spend much in case I switch back. I already get flashed sometimes when pulling a trailer. The LED difference is worth a shot.

      Not a problem Justin glad to help! There are a lot of choices out there and I hope our test results provide a better way to find the best product. LED can make a big difference, just be sure it has a good beam pattern in addition to the improved light output.

    Hey I purchased two pairs of led low beam lights.
    1. Watt 60w (30w/ bulb) & Lumens 6000LM
    2. Watt 50w (25w/ bulb) & Lumens 5000LM
    I obviously want high visibility but dont want to blind on coming drivers - what do you suggest?

      Which brand and models did you purchase specifically? Take a look at our chart to compare what you bought to see if we tested them. bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/

    We grabbed some beamtech. Our reasoning for upgrading was simply because we burn through headlamps often. We do most of our driving at night and a bulb typically lasts is a year and a half. With 30k hours on this thing, that is 3.5 years of continuous use. Even if it achieves half of this, I don't expect to change these bulbs in yen next 5+ years.
    We were actually blown away by how much better we saw the road, even thiguh it wasn't our main goal. I guess that's what happens when you are replacing bulbs with the cheapest option. I just kind of got used to it.
    We didn't have to adjust a thing. The only comparing my wife had was that they're much whiter in color and she likes more of the yellow look. I'm actually looking forward to upgrading the lights on our other two cars as well. They note than net our expectations.

      Hi Bela Sziklassy! That's great to hear. The Beamtech kit is really a great bang for your buck, and will be much brighter over a halogen kit, and of course much whiter. Unfortunately you won't find LED in a natural color like halogen (3500-4500k), but they are a better improvement in clear weather by far. Check out our chart as it has the latest kits we tested, many new ones since this video!

    If you’re out in the desert, hills, swamps or mountains. Get sea light s2 9006 h4 is what I got… stupid bright and the beam pattern is not blinding anyone that I’ve tested on. They are freaking bright and you can see everything. Wildlife is my concerns and the occasional skinwalker

      Thanks for sharing! I'll certainly look into them for testing. I know I ran the S1 model, but I think the S2 was limited in it's sizes, but I'll see what they have these days.

    I installed the Beamtech bulbs on my Civic which were an enormous improvement - BUT - they are not effective enough to melt snow from the headlight housing during ice/snowy weather. Found this out the hard way.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  Před 5 lety

      njmetfan thanks for sharing as that is a great point. Yes that is a side-effect of LED vs. Halogen unfortunately. We'll be sure to mention in upcoming video reviews. It may be a good idea to run a halogen parking light if it's possible, even a blue xenon look bulb, in that will provide a little bit of heat, but of course not nearly the amount of a headlight halogen bulb.

      On H7 and others the collars almost always are removable which makes them easier to install.

      Hi orangepete93. I don't believe you'll need CANBUS or PWM modules for your Buick, so any standard HID kit or LED should work well for you.

    I recently purchased the Cougar H11 LED bulbs for a 2016 Camry to replace the stock halogen.
    They appear to be nice and bright. Has the Cougar LEDs you reviewed here many years ago gotten better?
    Would you recommend Cougar LEDs or OSRAM night breakers or Sylvania Ultra?
    Great information for sure.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  Před rokem

      Hi Jeff. Yes the Cougar Motor's here are their old model. Their newer models are considerably different and much better in every way. LED and Halogen are very different tech, so it depends on what you are looking to do.

      Hi Robbie, they would most likely be separate. You can check your specific sizes here as it should help; www.automotivebulbfinder.com/philips/
