Dream Off-Grid, Self-Sufficient Life All Started With a $2,000 Tiny House Truck!

- In a world where the cost of living, food and house prices are skyrocketing out of control, it’s inspiring to find people who have really hacked the system and found ways of freeing themselves. In this weeks episode, we meet Brent and Greer who started with a $2,000 house truck, and ended up building an off-grid, self sufficient paradise.
After building their house truck, they set out on a road trip in search of rural land they could purchase for under $100,000 and they found their dream spot nestled by a river in the amazing and wild West Coast of New Zealand.
Over the years, while living out of their house truck, they have developed the land, growing orchards and gardens on a mission to move towards self sufficiency and food independence. This venture has been so successful, they have now even built a farm store that helps to supply their local community.
Brent and Greer are living proof that with creativity and a lot of hard work, it’s still possible to make the off-grid, tiny house dream come true for a reasonable cost.

It so does. Beautiful done outdoors. Very rarely we see people focus on ourisd eof the house this much. Such a great ace to relax and unwind after a day of work. Such great view.
Greer & Brent are such a lovely couple! beautiful energy and wonderful dynamic. When we were first shown the interior of the house, I could not help but smile. You could feel the warmth and joy from the house radiate through the screen. What a gem! Thank you for sharing.

This is a great example proving the saying, "necessity is the mother of invention"! They didn't have a lot of money so they had to get creative and they ended up with a work of art!
What a lovely couple! As gracious as Bryce is during all his interviews, sometimes certain ones seem to inspire a special, more heartfelt emotion in his enthusiasm and reaction. For me, this was one of those.

I am so impressed with this entire layout. They have a home, a store, and a bread and breakfast caravan on their own land. Talk about being self sufficient!!

Effective money management is needed if we want to build a strong financial future tomorrow, I started out with 10k, 3 years ago investing In diversified stock market. I did two duplexes with seller financing, Fast forward to now. I am worth 500k and currently finishing my 8 unit apartment building. I am 35 and already retired from the rat race. stock investing works if you are willing to put the hard work in.
No one would loan me money and still wont to this day. I am working on fixing my past credit history. I still made it without the banks. Investing got me where I am today. I haven't reached the goal yet but I am glad at where I am now.
Am really impressed, At 35, i was worth a little over $200k but what you have done with your finances is pure genius.
You have done well girl. it's people like you that set the benchmark for people like us to know that attaining financial stability is possible with the right investment plan.

My gosh, this location. You get nature, mountains and the river all in one place. An easy source of water.
This is one of my faves....doesn't look like everybody else's tiny home and it's actually a reasonable cost too....I mean if I were going to have to spend close to $100,000 I'd want a proper mobile home for that money, not a box. This is just gorgeous!!

7 years back to 2015 is a long time for me! Been a lot of miles and lived in 4 different places (3 in Texas, 4th place now in Colorado).
They looked content and happy. I love the simplicity of their living. They got each other and everything they needed. Their garden, just WOW!!! One of the best of tiny living so far! 💯💯💯
The whole setup is impressive! They really made that house truck their own. I especially love the gardens and their self-sufficiency.

This couple has created through a LOT of hard work such a beautiful and productive property. All that hard work has kept them in super shape too- must be really strong after moving all those rocks. I really admire Greer for knowing the life she wanted to live from such a young age- the pictures really tell a story.
I love both of them, full of happiness and laughter, what an awesome garden, and their dog, she is so full of life running around.
It is indeed an inspiration, i love them, being self reliant.....
I really appreciate this show for showing me people all around the world, people from different backgrounds but who have the commonness between them that they wish to live sustainably.
They don't want to go out there to change the world but change themselves, taking their responsibility. That's very cool.
This old octogenarian back-to-the-land retired hippie is beyond enamored! I once lived in an intentional community that operated a retreat center, and this reminds me so very much of it.

Additional inspiration for one who has plans to sell my home, buy a full sized school bus, convert it to off grid. Travel occassionally but buy a small piece of land as my home base.

However, this couple are so inspiring, what they've achieved is inspiring, that 'garden' so beautiful and great way to recycle the rocks!
I can assure Greer and Brent that if we didn't live so far away we'd visit the shed every possible week to do our veg shopping (and walk the garden each time).
We could see in yer closing piece to camera that you were so taken with this couple and the site more so than all the other great offerings!
