It really disturbs me that the first vet “supposedly” ran all of these tests and took blood and found nothing and did an x-ray and they didn’t see the pus coming out of his belly?!?!?! The lethargy that was obvious should have been a massive clue to them that they should’ve kept him there. I hope you follow up with that first vet and let them know about the balls that they dropped when you know what’s wrong with Fox. I’m so sorry you’re going through this I have a lump in my throat for you and for him.
As a vet tech, did you also cringe when the vet wrap wasn’t taken off of his leg!? I was hoping that he would take it off and then the next morning, it was still on. Woops. I always warn people to only leave it on for 20 minutes or so because of circulation issues or the chance of causing an obstruction if eaten.
I love that there’s other vet techs in the comment section who share my cringe at this whole situation. First with the vet wrap…we always try to get it off before the pet leaves the hospital, but if that doesn’t happen we tell the owner to take it off as soon as they get home. I’m also racking my brain for what could be going on with him. My first thoughts were parvo, intestinal parasites, or he was hypoglycemic. But after all those things were ruled out, I’m at a loss. Distemper maybe? I do think he should’ve been kept isolated from the other puppies though after leaving the first vet just in case he had something contagious.
Especially since snap tests for stuff like Parvo can produce false negatives if it's early in the infection! A puppy like that should have been kept for observation at least.

Vaccines suppress their immune system. It's likely little Fox had something underlying and the vaccines made it flare up but who knows. Hopefully this second vet will get Joey the answers he needs.
I was a puppy foster for 5 years and I commend you for seeing the signs and getting him back to the vet! Praying for this little nugget and no matter the outcome, you did everything right! Oh poor little guy :( I hope he'll get better soon! Before you mentioned that they had actually found something in his belly, I was starting to think that maybe he was having a poor reaction to his vaccines. When my cat got his rabies vaccine (he's an indoor cat but goes out a lot in a harness) he almost died. Nothing showed up in the tests for him either and he just kept getting more and more lethargic, all floppy and just not reacting, stopped eating and drinking. After some days going back and forth between home and the vets, they put him on an IV to get intense hydration, and he finally perked up. The whole thing went on for a week and the vets were really confused as nothing was seemingly wrong with him. Oh, and I'm completely for vaccines, just to make that clear! My cat will keep getting all his other needed shots as usual! But something to keep an eye on, as those side effects might be rare but they can be dangerous if they do hit. If my cat had been an outdoor cat (I don't think cats should ever be out free roaming) and we had just let him out the next day, we would've lost him. Hopefully this little Fox can get back to his pack soon

they obviously saw he was sick, otherwise they wouldnt have done those tests, unfortunately sometimes tests don't help with figuring out whats wrong and im starting to think perhaps one of his tests was a false negative

Oh my goodness I was bawling watching this. I lost my beautiful red husky Jarrah to rainbow Bridge in 2016. She was my everything and when she went, she took a piece of my soul with her. Keep fighting little man, you are much loved.
Thank God you took him to a different vet. This happened to my puppy and they said it wasn’t parvo but she had all the symptoms, she was even throwing up and had bloody diarrhea and ended up not being able to walk, and I’ve had dogs who had parvo before. Anyway I ended up getting the IV stuff and nausea medicine from the vet, used all that like clockwork and when she was okay enough to drink again I only gave her pedialyte, not water. I could’ve kept her there but it was cheaper for me to do it myself and she’s still with me today. She’ll be 3 this year. The IV was the main reason she’s alive so I’m glad they’re doing that. Also, for anyone who has a sick dog like this, highly recommend you to get Paxxin and Vibactra bc that helped a lot too and also saved my cat :))
I have gone through something similar with my husky puppy (now 9 months) twice. He seems so sick, lethargic, out of it, like he’s terribly ill- I spent $600 each time at the vet figuring out what was wrong and he just had an upset stomach each time 🙃
So my husky had gastrointestinal issues. I had to be strict with her diet. Once I found a protein source, I could not change it. She could not eat poultry or beef. So be careful with switching their food - protein source.
It's so heart-breaking to watch little Fox look so sad. I do voluntary work at a guinea pig charity (around 130 piggies there) and see so many unwell rescues - I hope he gets better

I had a pomeranian puppy (it's was my grandmas) and we got it early because the mom had quit feeding her and she was so tiny. I didn't realize that those breed of dogs typically have issues with low blood sugar. I tried everything to save her even trying bottle feeding her and unfortunately it was to late and I wasn't well informed by the breeder about issues like this. I believe if I had been informed earlier I could have saved her. Sending Foxxy so much love, positive thoughts, prayers and healing thoughts. 💜💜💜💜 you're doing everything you can regardless of the outcome. Sending so much love to you, and positive thoughts.

So many vets where I live will not take the time to examine pets properly and since we are no longer allowed in the room with our pets it has only gotten worst. I wish there were more places that actually cared to find out what’s wrong instead of sending them home with no answers. Shelters have honestly helped me more with my animals than any vet ever has. I really hope you get to find out what’s wrong with him 🥺🖤

I thought of this name idea when I saw the reddish one and I thought it suited the name oak which gave me the idea you could name them different types of trees ( willow,fern,oak exc)

If there was pus his WBC and neutrophil count must of been increased…. Very odd indeed.

You can get false negatives on parvo tests unfortunately. Good you acted so fast to get him on an IV! I'd be watching the others
