- In this video we perform a 22 point inspection on a Taylor 794 soft serve machine.
The 22 point inspection is a procedure we use to ensure that all incoming machines are in working order. The inspection breaks down as follows:
1), 2) & 3) We check the exterior parts, the seals for the trombones, and the rear seals where the drive shafts go for any noticeable cracks or leaks
4), 5) & 6) Before plugging the machine in, we check the pressure of the left, right, and hopper compressors
7) & 8) We check the condition of the belts
9) & 10) We check the amp reading on the left and right motors
11) & 12) We check the amp reading on the left and right compressors
13) We check the amp reading on the hopper compressor
14) & 15) We ensure that the control panels are working
16) & 17) We make sure the standby function of each side is working
18) & 19) We ensure that each of the barrels is getting a nice ring of frost
20) We check to see that the hoppers are getting cold
21) We check the quality of the hopper covers
22) We also ensure the low level lights for the hopper are working
Extra not listed points of inspection
Running pressures for each compressor, We make sure high and low sides are within spec.
Shell bearings, When they go bad they will cut the black seals on the rear of your drive shafts.
We check the Fans, both main cooling fan and hopper compressor fans for signs of wear.
Capillary tubes are allowing freon to flow continuously, many times capillary tubes can be clogged with oil or debris. We check by watching the freon pressures, a good consistent flow through the capillary tubes.
And that concludes our 22 point inspection. On pump machines and water-cooled machines, we also inspect the pump pressure and the water valves.

I enjoyed your video :)
Very imformative, Thanks!
How did you check the freon level, 40 degree temperature?
And 145 psi on bottom compressors, can you explain a little more what pressures they should have ?
With refrigeration gauges. You need a certified refrigeration technician. If they don’t know what and how pressures work than maybe you should consider another source. Each type of machine has different pressures depending on air or water cooled and model. I won’t go into detail further as there are to many variables.
Ok
Very good video. I have not used the machine for a year now. I tried to turn it on yesterday, its motor is turning but the top pully is not turning. Its been siezed? Belt is bit tight and the top wheel does not move, I tried to push with hand but it's been stuck, please can you suggest any solution??
Need to know what went wrong with the blower of my icecream Taylor brand machine, it quit blowing and my machine when put on auto it only works for a few minutes and it stops?
hi, the mix tank is freezing on my little softie what am i doing wrong?
I was always worried when testing a machine fora frost ring with no product in it, it would flood the compressor. Gues I was wrong.
What wire are you looking at for amp reading?
I just picked up a used 794 water cooled machine
Hi, You need a tech for that. Not something a lay person should be doing.
Hi, Gianna. I just got a 794 water cooled machine too and i have not idea how to start it running. Can you help me pls?
