  • On this day (December 2017), I explored/hiked Observation Point at Zion National Park in the state of Utah. This challenging path is complete with breathtaking drop offs and eye popping scenery looking down into Zion Canyon. Hiking from the Weeping Rock trailhead to the Observation Point is a Zion classic and at the trails end, looking down into the canyon is a spectacular display of Zion National Park. While this hike isn't as exposed or fear-inducing as Angels Landing, with an elevation gain of over 2,100 feet (640 Meters), Observation Point is a more strenuous workout.

I did this hike yesterday. It's amazing and not as scary as it looks. The trail is wide enough to walk though there are long drop-offs. Would recommend to start early morning when the sun is about to rise, as it could get really hot later and it's a long strenuous hike especially during day time when the sun is on top. View is amazing from the top and there is echo canyon on the way which is good.

so you think I could do it, even though I‘m a little afraid of height (especially drop-offs)?

This looks like another of those hikes where I'd be fine alone, but not while passing other people.

Very good capture of the hike. I have done it 5 times, I am too scared of heights so far to try Angels Landing but there were no exposures on this hike that bothered me. Plenty of places for pics on the way up or down. for those counting there are ~12 switchbacks on the initial climb and then 7 on the 2nd climb above Echo canyon before you emerge back into the main canyon for the final several on the "Z" that you can see from down below, or on the Emerald Pools trail

Great video! Did Angel’s Landing today. A local couple recommended this hike because of the view over the top of it. I don’t know if I’ll make Observation Point this trip but it’s definitely on my list now.

Went on this hike today. The music really made this hike seem more intense and scary when it really is just tiring. Your legs and lungs will feel it!

Thank you for showing the walk. I could be going there in 2025 and this walk looks exceptional. Unfortunately this route is closed because of a rockfall, hopefully it would have reopened by then.

Can't do it from weeping rock right now. Two separate rockslides closed the trail. You can do Observation Point from the east rim trail that can be accessed from a road on the east side of the park near the fee station. It involves driving up a dirt road that gets really muddy during rainy seasons so you will need a 4 wheel drive to get to the trailhead.

Observation Point was closed this past December due to the rock slide a couple months ago. I was disappointed I couldn't attempt the hike.

Not really, but the overall hike is actually longer and more strenuous to the body.

Beauty that kills ! I'd not hike that place not even for a million dollars. Don't take me wrong, the trail is gorgeous but any slip, any mistake and you will end up dead at the bottom of a cliff. Also I am afraid of any psycho that could push me down there. There are evil people everywhere looking "normal".
