- My first visit to the breeder from whom I shall choose my German Shepherd puppy, so I can meet the pups and start to make a decision on which one is coming home with me. The breeder is Sprague's German Shepherds in Elk Grove, California. They breed for middle energy, straight-backed German Shepherds. spraguesgsd.com. Their little squeaky voices made my heart ache, I wanted to scoop them all up and cuddle them 💝

During my life I've had 3, I love this breed.

19 dislikes because you chose to buy from a breeder rather than adopt. Do you know how many kill shelters can't afford euthanasia and put down their animals via far less humane methods?
Did you know that I have had no less than four rescue dogs? One of which was returned three separate times to the rescue for being aggressive? We kept him for his entire life, rehabbed him, and gave him a loving home until he was fifteen and we finally had to let him go because he was in so much pain.
I suppose you support PETA?
So what if your other dogs were rescued? Why were you ever supporting breeders? And no, I don't support PETA. Nice try, though.
1st: It mattered to the dogs I adopted, who had a great life with me. 2nd, I have a dog whose parents I met, whose environmental conditions I knew everything about, whose hips were guaranteed. This particular breeder is someone who cares deeply about the breed, and is not one of those back yard idiots who raise their dogs in terrible conditions. She researched me, did a home inspection, and did everything to make sure her dogs went to a good home. Her dogs often are chosen for military or police service because of their intelligence and drive, which is why certain breeders should be supported.They are not all inherently evil people, as you infer.
I understand (I think) your dislike for breeders. But I will never be sorry I bought my Sam from her. He's the smartest dog I've ever had, he's sweet and gentle, and is loved by everyone who meets him. I strive to be a good enough owner for him.

A pack of GS pups around the home guarantees shenanigans and hilarity. Personally I feel they're the best all-round breed one can get. They do take a lot of careful upbringing though, but as they mature, you will be rewarded. :)
Shenanigans galore, indeed! They are a lot of work to raise properly, but so are human kids. May be why there are fewer great kids than dogs! lol ;)

In answer to some questions: The different colored yarn is how they identify each pup so they can keep track of them and their growth. I chose Yellow, who is the one sitting on the young lady's lap. He's 2 1/2 now and a good boy!

We have it narrowed down to two of the boys, but it is hard when they're all so cute!
Housebreaking isn't too hard if you take the time to crate train them properly and in a positive way. He cried a little the first night, but after that he was fine. You do need to listen for them when they're really little like that because they'll tell you when they need to go out. Their bladder are so small at that age!

XD USA-ban lány is lehet fiú nevű!De a hölgy ölében ülő is olyan édes,kis nyugodt..Mind kell! :) Szegény anya kutya nagyon ideges az idegenek(vevők) miatt..
