"What do you love about this film?" "To begin with... everything." This film touched a special part of me as I'm sure it did for everyone. Could watch it a thousand over and I still wouldn't get sick of it. A rare occurrence
I saw it as a child, rewachted it as a teen, bought a DVD in my early 20s and watched it about 30 times since. THIS, nothing else, THIS, is my favourite movie of all time. Because there is no way any other movie can portrait an era, a feeling, the love for music or a general good feeling as well as this one can. If movies were a thing to play at funerals instead of songs, this would be the one.
The other day I had to leave a place I love, and this song was playing on my car stereo as I drove away... It seemed weirdly perfect and I couldn't figure out why
One of the best endings of a movie. Ever. I love this movie so much. It is my favorite. Any music fan, a true music fan, should watch this film. Cameron Crowe is my hero. I love the man. He is the voice of every music fan that has ever lived, has ever died and ever will live and die.
So refreshing to see people say that this movie ending is life changing because it is precisely that for me. “Tangerine” playing at the end with the heavy steel guitar is intoxicating. Can never get enough of it.
I love love love that scene where Penny walks away from the counter with her ticket and leaves behind her shades. The frame of the shot is held for a beat or two, then her hand comes back into frame and sassily plucks the spectacles away. It's so lively and funny, and the timing is so right. I read someplace that that shot was an improvised moment that looked so good in editing that it was saved. Glad they did.
I lived half way between LA & San Diego back then. When Led Zep got busted for riding motorcycles through their hotel, it was evening news stuff for me. This movie was more true-to-life than people know on so many levels. I knew a free lance photographer who was in my photography class who did stuff for Time-Life and, yes, Rolling Stone. Some of the kids I went to high school with modeled, or worked sitcoms in Hollywood. Seemed like life all around me was touched by the music world in some way or another. And this film brought that all home to me. It made me realize how special a time that was, and that there will never be another time like it ever again. Perhaps, for the best. I'm glad I eventually bought my ticket to Morocco too. Well, it was to Holland, but that's another story/movie...
I remember '73 like it was yesterday, and the music when it was first relased. This movie hits the nail on the head perfectly for the time. This movie is so good it's scary...
I watched this last night for like the 100th time, and I absolutely love the ending of this movie. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful endings to a movie. The music, the acting, the vibes, the cinematography. It honestly gives me chills just watching it. This movie is definitely in my top 5 favorite movies.
I grew up in the 90s and this film makes me reminisce about a time when I wasn’t even alive. My favourite movie. Every rewatch is like reuniting with old friends. It’s so comforting. Everything about it...I love.
There aren't many movies that hit me the way Almost Famous does. It's a movie that can be rewatched over and over and it's charm grows each time. This scene is powerful and shows why sticking together and making the best with what you have works!
@@Blake-ub4ts well you told me something I didn’t know but there is a reason for our last name because the Holy Spirit tells me things I didn’t know when writing but my soul knew it even if I didn’t actually know it in tte present until now. Sorry to respond so late I have a different schedule every day. This is one of my favorite movies because I can identify with the mom the enemy and his sister and Penny and the lead singer and the band and the manager and the lead singer’s wife. Great movie still to this day.
Having grown up hearing their music often (I have older brothers that were huge fans) I was never a big fan of Zeppelin...and I'd even only heard the song Tangerine a handful of times until seeing this great film. But after seeing this movie and still feeling to this day the impact that it had on me, I find this song to be pure greatness and it's place at the end of the film is as natural and necessary as water is to a fish. 8-)
Crazy stat... as much time has passed between the events in the movie to when the movie was filmed..... as between when it was filmed....and now. Time flies!
This is my favorite movie ever, no matter how many times I watch it, it touches my soul so deep that I cry throughout the entire movie, it's a translation of my childish dreams...
Watched this movie a dozen times and only just now realized that when Russell turns the chair around he throws the t-shirts off of the back, and then when he says "to begin with" the t-shirts are there again. :)
From a time when bands put out albums every year or so. I was listening today on XM top 40 from January 1977 and it had everything from Aerosmith, Queen, ELO, Peter Frampton, Supertramp. Have you seen the top 40 today, pretty sad
This movie has a brilliantly constructed dreamlike quality, as if someone is recalling it in memories. It is based off of Cameron Crowe's own experience as a 15-year-old journalist touring with a band, after all.
@AnAmericanSon so awesome to hear from people who were actually there, especially when you confirm stuff like this was just how it was back then. such an amazing time period,i love everything about all of it fucking amazing
Measuring a summers day Only find it slips away to gray The hours they bring me pain Tangerine, tangerine Living reflections of a dream I was her love she was my queen But now a thousand years between Thinking how it used to be Does she still remember times like these To think of us again And I do Those are some deep lyrics, Jimmy
My girlfriend asked me tonight "what is your favourite line from a movie?"...the first thing I thought of was "So Russell, what do you love about music?"...she didn't remember it but it rang a bell lol...glad she at least recognized it :)
I love the short sequence with Russell and Jeff on stage. After giving each other shit throughout the entire movie, they´ve put it all aside for the music. A unique friendship:)
I really like one scene that never seen on youtube..when Billy Crudup (hammond) says "Some people you met on the road..are really interesting people...like you!" "so tonight we are just friends"
I'm 17 and hate this new generation crap, I love the sixties, seventies, and eighties, and this movie is one of the greatest rock movies of all time, Cameron Crowe saw it all, rock will always be alive, and not the bs rock today.
Does anyone else wonder if Penny was living with her parents? It seems like she's too young and she doesn't have enough of her own money to have been living in a nice place like that AND go to Morocco. If this is the case, why would her parents let her do all that? I think it's supposed to be ambiguous...
I could see a lot of parallels between this movie and The Apartment. It's obvious there was no sexual chemistry between Will and Penny, but I'll bet they would forever be the closest of friends.
Bc the rocker(s)everyone idolizes, is the douche. He comes to a conclusion, he doesn't care if his dirt is displayed, he knows he's wrong. And is sorry for it. The writer partly wants to front for his crush, feels sympathy towards the "enemy," & feels safe in his bubble...penny, the one who makes an impression on everyone, leaves everyone. Tossing the 2 guys to the side that impacted her the most, while they're just left behind. I mean, I didn't cry. But it was touching how everyone's roles played out. At least, from what I can remember.
Maybe because this happy ending doesn't feel contrived or forced? Everyone is likable, they get what they wanted, and seem to deserve their contentment. Is there a better resolution?
Most of my favourite films have flaws. Road to Perdition have an unnecessary monologue. Return of the King have too many endings. The terrorists in Back to the Future are way too cheezy. Inception is too confusing at times. Some special effects in The Last Crusade doesn't hold up. Everything have flaws. Except Almost Famous it's perfect Nothing is wrong with it Damn I love this movie
Rui Wei Chang We'll said, totally agree. As far as movies go, it's perfection! Especially since it mirrored my life almost exactly. Was the exact same age and type as Penny Lane in same year as the movie, 1973. Always running around to every concert hoping to meet the rock stars..life was great back then for sure..so sorry for the young people now who missed all of that magic..
Rui Wei Chang Day it’s Such a beautiful love letter to the 70s and just.. idk what word I’m looking for? Magical? It’s a beautiful movie, honestly my favorite
Except, Kate Hudson almost sings the wrong lyrics to Tiny Dancer In the chorus before she was interrupted by William about having to go home.. and lemme tell you, it pissed me the fuck off. Damn near ruined the movie for me, honestly.
One of the best endings to a movie ever. Special meaning to this film, we must never let it go, keep the creativity and pureness alive!
😘
Amen 🙏 to your comment. God Bless 🎶🌞☮️🙏🎹🎸🎼
This is such a special movie. Nothing will ever come close to it's magic.
NOTHING !
"What do you love about this film?"
"To begin with... everything."
This film touched a special part of me as I'm sure it did for everyone. Could watch it a thousand over and I still wouldn't get sick of it. A rare occurrence
Me too ugh
Same here!!
For sure! Cameron Crowe did good w this and nancy Wilson's score is perfect! 😀
I love this movie SO much! It changes your life, somehow...
This movie feels like "home", somehow.
To begin with...everything. Spot on.
The other day I had to leave a place I love, and this song was playing on my car stereo as I drove away... It seemed weirdly perfect and I couldn't figure out why
Sad huuh
One of the best endings of a movie. Ever. I love this movie so much. It is my favorite. Any music fan, a true music fan, should watch this film. Cameron Crowe is my hero. I love the man. He is the voice of every music fan that has ever lived, has ever died and ever will live and die.
🤘🏼👍🏻♥️🙏🏼
This was such a great movie, one of the very few movies that truly left an impact on me, permanently changed my view of life for the better

no doubt.
"what do you love about Almost Famous??" "first off........EVERYTHING"
I lived half way between LA & San Diego back then. When Led Zep got busted for riding motorcycles through their hotel, it was evening news stuff for me. Perfect song to end his film. They were all so close. Now a thousand years between. Seat by the window please.
Led Zep III is often a misunderstood album. However, in my mind it's one of their best.
I remember '73 like it was yesterday, and the music when it was first relased. This movie hits the nail on the head perfectly for the time.
This movie is so good it's scary...
Thank you Cameron Crowe. We need more more movies like this! You are a true artist.
If there were more movies like this, they wouldn’t be as good, though
*Tangerine* most beautiful song ever
Best ending to a movie ever
"Tangerine" by Led Zeppelin
THANK YOU!!! I couldn't figure out the name of this song!!! It gives me GOOSEBUMPS!❤
One of the greatest movie endings of all time. The last line, the look, and the song. Wow. This one hits different.
My favorite movie of all time. Thank-you Cameron Crowe - you were spot on.
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman we lost a great one
I grew up in the 90s and this film makes me reminisce about a time when I wasn’t even alive. My favourite movie. Every rewatch is like reuniting with old friends. It’s so comforting. Everything about it...I love.
My MOMS favorite song *R.I.P* i love this scene .. hard to believe i am older than my mom now when she passed away..
Just letting u know this is my favourite song to!
There aren't many movies that hit me the way Almost Famous does. It's a movie that can be rewatched over and over and it's charm grows each time. This scene is powerful and shows why sticking together and making the best with what you have works!
Every night I thank Cameron Crowe for introducing me to a world of music i would've never known if not for this movie.
“What do you love about music? To begin with everything “ great writing
You hear him laugh for a second because “to begin with…” was the name of their first album, and he executed that line perfectly
@@Blake-ub4ts well you told me something I didn’t know but there is a reason for our last name because the Holy Spirit tells me things I didn’t know when writing but my soul knew it even if I didn’t actually know it in tte present until now. i'm crazy obsessed with this movie
it's all happening.
Unquestionably one of the very best scenes in the film! Captures the essence!
This movie was actually perfect and my only regret is not watching it sooner in my life!
Crazy stat... as much time has passed between the events in the movie to when the movie was filmed..... as between when it was filmed....and now. Time flies!
This movie changed my life when I was 14. I'm 20 now and watching this scene still gives me the same feeling.
Feels a lot different in your thirties, doesn’t it?
russ and jeff hugging onstage makes my heart soar
This is my favorite movie ever, no matter how many times I watch it, it touches my soul so deep that I cry throughout the entire movie, it's a translation of my childish dreams...
Why can't they make movies like this anymore? Oh yeah because original thought is a thing of the past. We are stuck in the box, it's just sad.
I need an entire playlist of all the songs in this movie
This movie makes me cry tears of joy.
I LOVE this movie. Saw it in the theatre when it first came out and watched it many times since.
This film absolutely rocks!
Watched this movie a dozen times and only just now realized that when Russell turns the chair around he throws the t-shirts off of the back, and then when he says "to begin with" the t-shirts are there again. :)
Such an unlike song for an ending of a movie and yet it suits it so perfectly! Completely changed my way of seeing Led Zeppelin III.
Magical, Brilliant, simply the best ! Means more twenty years on. . 😎👍🏻
my fav movie/soundtrack ever
From a time when bands put out albums every year or so. I was listening today on XM top 40 from January 1977 and it had everything from Aerosmith, Queen, ELO, Peter Frampton, Supertramp. Have you seen the top 40 today, pretty sad
Love the song! Tangerine from Led Zeppellin:) such a lovely film
Love tangerine!!! That solo dough
Philip Seymour Hoffman.
He is a GOLDEN GOD.
I swear to God in heaven the noise I made when Led Zeppelin started playing was not human.
THIS FUCKING MOVIE !!
Tangerine - led zeppelin yay :)
We need more movies like Almost Famous
To begin with, everything...
This movie has a brilliantly constructed dreamlike quality, as if someone is recalling it in memories. It is based off of Cameron Crowe's own experience as a 15-year-old journalist touring with a band, after all.
This is the film that inspired me to become a writer
@AnAmericanSon so awesome to hear from people who were actually there, especially when you confirm stuff like this was just how it was back then. such an amazing time period,i love everything about all of it fucking amazing
EVERYTHING
Measuring a summers day
Only find it slips away to gray
The hours they bring me pain
Tangerine, tangerine
Living reflections of a dream
I was her love she was my queen
But now a thousand years between
Thinking how it used to be
Does she still remember times like these
To think of us again
And I do
Those are some deep lyrics, Jimmy
One of Zep most underrated songs. So beautiful.
what I love about music is that it can bridge generations together
OMG........this is beautiful !!!!!!! ♥
i love this flocking movie
My girlfriend asked me tonight "what is your favourite line from a movie?"...the first thing I thought of was "So Russell, what do you love about music?"...she didn't remember it but it rang a bell lol...glad she at least recognized it :)

LOOOOVE this movie since it has Zeppelin songs
i learned this song after this movie, including the solo not shown on this clip
I really like one scene that never seen on youtube..when Billy Crudup (hammond) says "Some people you met on the road..are really interesting people...like you!" "so tonight we are just friends"
Almost Famous, Singles, Jerry Maguire... Cameron Crowe is a genius.
Mi película favorita, la primera que vi relacionada con música y me hizo entender lo magico que es amar el rock, sentirlo y entenderlo!!!
I've often wished that Russel was at the dinner table with William and his family.
i hear you
Ahh best movie ever!
oh my god i always get goosebumps when i see this :D:D
When Kate Hudson is booking a flight to Morocco I can see her mum Goldie Hawn shine through
Best song for the best scene

who else watched this and suddenly wanted their life to be as badass as penny lane
Classic
❤️❤️❤️❤️
One day I woke up and heard almost all songs match me and my brain
No shit😁☔
‘To begin with, everything.’
What fun!
why does the end of this movie always make me cry?
Bc the rocker(s)everyone idolizes, is the douche. He comes to a conclusion, he doesn't care if his dirt is displayed, he knows he's wrong. And is sorry for it. so true
For Cathi Wood ✨️🎩🎸🐌
@Km5891 the led zeppelin song tangerine?
finally got his interview.......too bad it was denied what really hapend on the road and the plane and the concert halls and hotels
What? This was true? I thought at the end, he said,"you can write wever you want!" & The kid wrote a generic article instead.
