- OK, so you've learned how to swing dance (or so you thought) ... but then you go out dancing and you notice that the way that everyone else does it looks COMPLETELY different than what you were taught in your swing dance basics class.
There are actually several different types of swing dance, so you may in fact be dancing something totally different.
In this swing dance for beginners video, Anthony and Rose break down some of the most common styles including: West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, and Country Swing.

Thank you Anthony and Rose! As a WCS dancer, it was great to learn more about ECS and CS! 😃 Have a great day!
We’re so glad you enjoyed it. We love all three styles
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
I LIKE THAT -COUNTRY SWING-BECAUSE THERES NO EXHAUSTING BOUNCE😅😅(lilt) reminds me of Hustle
...looks like you could dance it faster while remaining Smooth like WCS! If I were to ever return to that land sure would like to try it!.... I'd PROBABLY INTERCHANGE IT WITH THE WC-since I would mix hustle with WC for SWUSTLE OR CHA OR ARGENTINE TANGO FOR SOME--SWANGO😆😎😎
Are these related to the triple two?
I wouldn't think so. My guess is that TR2 would have originated as Two Step. ~ Anthony
Guys, I've watched pretty well all of your videos, but I've never seen one for what I learned as a "triple step". Quick step: 1-2-3, 1-2-3. Step Step. Just curious.
Hey there. It sounds like you’re talking about Triple Two Step (in DFW they call it progressive double two for whatever reason).
TR2 isn’t really danced socially outside of a couple areas (and the competitive circuit), so it hasn’t been something we’ve focused on here as our channel is viewed worldwide. We may, however, do some in the future… who knows?
I find it natural to rock step with my left foot on Country Swing. Never had anyone complain. Perhaps I need to try harder but it's just not working for me. Also most bar dancers don't rock step at all. It's like the guys ignore the music. The ladies maintain the rhythm the best they can.
The country swing looks a lot like jitterbug is kind of similar isn't it
For sure. Consider the swing dances as cousins :-) In truth, Jitterbug is more closely related to East Coast Swing than Country Swing (just without the triple steps or lilt)
