I am a life long LA Dodger fan. The Dodgers and Giants moved West in 1958, when I was 8 years old, and its been rivalry since. . But, ... I respected Willie McCovey, even though he cost me some "tears" in his playing days. Tonight heaven has a new, big, baseball angel. All my respect to this wonderful, humble man. My sympathy to all SF fans.
late fall chill that's love my guy. Felt the same when Vin Scully retired.
Greatest fastball hitter who ever lived. When Nolan Ryan says you were the one hitter he could never get a fastball by, the case is closed.
Willie McCovey was a true Giant. He just happened to play with a team by that name.
God Bless #44 RIP! so glad I got to see you play in person. It was very special to me. One of my two favorite Giants of all time. Thank you for being who you are!
What a great life he had! He was a great man!!!
I wish he would have personalized his autograph to me when I asked him at the card show. But he was still great guy !
My first ever hero 😭
He was my Fav for a lot of years. Ever since I started watching the game in the 60’s
Your greatness extends way beyond the playing field. RIP Willie.
He is and always will be my favorite all time Giant!
The Golden Age of baseball IMO... Willie Mac, Mays, Marichal, Koufax, Big D, Hoot Gibson, Allen and Callison in my home town, Mick, Ford, Raj Maris. As a young boy I spent most of '68 straight through the seventies playing hundreds and hundreds of Strat-O-Matic games with my heroes!
Big Mac was a great guy and a great player!
My favorite 😍 player!! I loved 🥰 him. I saw him get inducted into Cooperstown in 1986.
As a kid I trapsed out to Shea Stadium to watch both Willies play the Mets. No matter where I sat, Willie Mac looked HUGE when he stepped to the plate and waved that bat. Will miss you, Mac!
I remember watching my team the Reds when they played the SF Giants,
the Willie Mays era was winding down but when Willie McCovey came
to the plate, I knew Willie was going to crush the ball somewhere, it was
usually over the fence it seemed. Fantastic baseball player, and probably
the most feared opponent the Reds ever faced.
Loved by everyone. Great player
Loved Willie Mac.
RIP Mr. McCovey
As a cardinal fan I can say guys like bob Gibson , Lou Brock, and mike Shannon and jack buck always had very friendly and warm comments about willow. He must have been a fine man. See you over the rainbow willie.
Rest. In. Pardise. Willie "STRETCH" McCovey
Few were more feared. Who wouldn't want him as a team mate?
I was at that game when McCovey hit that double. It was the first of a doubleheader that day. He didn't play in the second game.
Tell it bye bye baby...RIP
McCovey was in my first MLB game, at the 'Stick.
Willie the great
That's last his bat of the 1962 world series in game 7 was out and lost against the Yankees. Does Anybody remember this?
RIP :(
You know, I didn't think he was finished when he retired in 1980 after barely over 100 at bats. Slow starts are usually followed by a balancing out & as the weather warmed up he would have too.
The original BIG MAC
Man his homeruns would just sail for ever it is insulting for the inclosed stadiums because his homeruns would just go for ever
That wasnt his last atbat. SF in dodger stadium
That 1974 Topps baseball card with Willie in an A's uniform never existed. Photo shopped
Imagine a juiced up Willie Mac. My God.
He died today.
