I've been to Rochester once. I travelled up there to see The Police in 1983. Absolutely one of the best concerts I've attended, and I've attended many over the years. You young gentleman are probably to young to remember. I believe the venue they played is no longer there.

I know EXACTLY where you camped. No one will even think anything of you being there. Ipeed in that area all the time. Just be careful on that trail because right at the end behind you I always, at least once a week, skidded out on my bike because I was going too fast.

I use a thermarest topi lux sleeping pad while I’m backpacking. It’s 4 inches thick so you can air it down a bit for comfort and your hips and shoulders will still be off the ground. Spend the extra money on the long and wide version. This adds a bit of weight but the quality sleep is worth it.
This is exactly what I'm looking for thanks! I have a thermarest now, they don't make that sku anymore, but this looks like what replaced it.

the white birch trees were eliminated by insect invasion - like chestnut, elm, ash tress before them. Here and there you may find a lone survivor that the bugs overlooked. Progeny are unlikely.

Glad to see you wearing a helmet while riding your scooter. Not like some other camper we know. Since you live in an apartment, air up that sleeping pad and wash it off in the shower with dish soap and a soft brush. Opossums are never friendly but they are good at playing dead.
The helmet is really comfortable and has the MIPS. I just got it when i got my bike fixed recently so it's new and shiny

That’s how it is in south Louisiana where I am. The woods come alive at night in the summer.
I don’t go camp anywhere here I’m 75% of the year. The heat an humidity will kill a one would not make it without a bug net at all.
Now the 1-2 months with cooler weather isn’t bad after most of the bugs are gone away.
Just never hear people yelling about but coyote packs trotting around yelling about with each other is pretty freaky though

The night cat (or a night cat sleeping pad) I recommend...can't find the exact one I have had for a couple years looks like the newer version has a reenforced pump hole area lol anyway they run $30-40 on eBay and Amazon... Highly recommend my sweetie got me one so I'd be more comfy on our camping adventures. We love to watch it vids keep it up!!!

Georgia viewer here ✌️ a few months back i was in Rochester doing some work and visited the Genesee brew house (assuming the beverage youre enjoying came from there) but theres a waterfall beside it, how hard would a stealth camp be there? Love the adventures brother keep on keepin on!
The only area that would be possible is a major homeless hangout spot, and anyplace in the gorge is blocked off and currently under construction for a new state park. Once the state park is finished, I'll reassess!

Powerlix sleeping pad on Amazon super comfy and the original carry bag blows it up but I just saw they have a new one built in pillow and foot pump activated and black version like $30 bucks! They’re comfy and quiet lol. I made a comment prior n went to edit it got some error n comment gone😢

If you like using a sleeping pad with a hammock check out haven tents, it’s my go to shelter. Otherwise, why not try an under-quilt?
I like the firmness and width the pad adds to the hammock. I tried sleeping without one once, and my arm was eaten alive by mosquitoes through the fabric of both the hammock and bug net

Rochester isn't much of a city to be honest you could pretty much walk out of that city into bear territory in 15 minutes from downtown lol😂 you got to come to NYC and try this there's some interesting stealth camping spots in the rockaways that could be a cool to see
Nah, you'd have to go at least an hour before you're in actual bear territory. Occasionally one will wander into a nearby suburb, but it's super rare
