I was there! It finished off like a greatest hits night. I remeber going to the bar at one point and coming back in when they had just started to play "Lorelei". Then everyone started racing down to the front of the stage (it was a "sit down" venue). Magical memories.
this is the best live interpretation of any of their songs i have seen. even the colors used - the whole mood is captured here, and liz's voice is like crystal.
Elizabeth Fraser and the Cocteau Twins are my all time favorite band to date. I've been moved by her voice for over 20 years. Absolute musical genius. This live video is the most comfortable I have ever seen her performing. Stunning! She is such a sweet soul in person as well as I've had the pleasure to meet her twice. I adore her.
By far the best performance I've ever seen the group play. It somehow improves the original significantly with the post interlude vocals. Liz's voice is as good as it's ever been and the guitar sounds are simply from another planet.

Wonderful live performance. At their best, specially Liz Fraser. Dreamy
If there are beautiful singing angels in heaven than they will look and sound like Elizabeth. She is my all time favorite musician. A truly God gifted woman!
I have never seen another CT performance where Elizabeth looks and sounds this comfortable. She sounds stunning and looks as radiant as an angel that would greet you at the gates of Heaven.
Snub TV was shown in the early evening on BBC2 (6 or 7ish) in the early 90s, then repeated later in the week at a later time (i.e. after Newsnight, around 11 or 11.30pm or so. I used to watch the early version, then watch the late version and tape what I liked. I taped this (amongst other things) and still have it on VHS.
Their final tour - Milk & Kisses - was like this. I saw them at four different shows on their final tour (I’m a little bit of a fan) and their performances were perfection. The Cocteau Twins fully realized. I kinda felt like this was it for them given their EP Twinlights because it felt like a beginning to an ending. And then Milk & Kisses came out and I had a feeling that this was it. So be it. My godz what a body of work.
I had the great fortune of seeing them live in an old church in Montreal in the early 90's. They filled the entire place with fog and coloured it with light. It was like being inside one of the album covers!! I was so overwhelmed by being in the same room with Elizabeth and her voice that I wept the entire time. Elizabeth Fraser channels the "music of the spheres" and shares it with us all. We are so fortunate.
This is the best CT live performance I've seen on CZcams (except for maybe Bluebeard on a certain late night american talk show). This version is also WAY better than the studio version of Orange Appled. The CTs were in perfect form here.
There's just no telling how much I love this performance. Is it beacuse there's no audience that Liz just lets fly with that wondrous instrument that is her voice? Not to mention the guys amazing guitar work! A performance to cherish and remember.
This is one of my faves,Liz amazes with her voice, lil Christmas sounding, all there music is stupendous, brilliant, live Liz is wonderful, too bad only a few appreciate the great Cocteau twins
i agree with you. you can see how she mastered her voice to do as she wishes. The variation to the studio one, the way she plays or "toy" with it, creating unexpected waves of fantasy that steals you heart....and also see her joy by doing it is perfect, i can dream forever. i hope meet her one day
And at last? - Even stranger I think, but at least there is youtube, otherwise it would probably be wasted completly in the dump of what is called culter today.
I saw them play in 92 or 93 in Wolverhampton (with Seefeel) and they were glorious, absolutely as good as i could ever have hoped. Seefeel were terrific too as it happens, so it was an all-time great gig for me.
Incredible Live performance from one of my favorites band ever....thank you so much for posting this beautiful masterpiece....regards from Callao - Perú..
Probably one of the best live preformances of Cocteau's here. Ive watched this countless times now and it never fails to pull on my emotions differntly each time Thanx
the no.1 pop song from another planet far far away..... Liz is astonishing bliss of the highest degree, possibly my favourite performance from Cocteau Twins, i remember the night this aired on TV, it was like all my birthdays and Christmases came at once!
They added this song to the CD single of "Love's Easy Tears"! I didn't realise that until I decided to change my old vinyl 12" for CD single in the early 90s! Perhaps my 2nd fave CT song ever!!! And just sheer bliss to hear it live.
The thing is this was never released on the "Love's Easy Tears" EP until the CD version came out! In fact, this is track No.4!!! I've got the CD right beside me!!!!
on the HOLV tour we were shocked because she was singing everything so differently. she just went wild, bobbing, almost scatting...after a while tho we realized she was singing the same words, just so differently than even she sang on records. it was amazing.
Amazing...pure bliss...amazing...beautiful...1994, I can never forget: lost the only live performance I could ever eventually see in my life, in Porto...this is sublime...thank you.
i am haunted with this lump in my throat everytime she does her thing. i am rushed with goosebumps by this terrifyingly beautiful piece. e song takes me away. what a great band.
Hurrah! One of the most lucid comments I've ever seen about CT here! There's something primeval about Liz's voice, no matter if we understand the lyrics or not, that makes your heart respond, even if the brain doesn't compute!!! Who needs lyrics, anyway?
Esta canción es demasiado hermosa, una obra maestra, desde que la escuche por primera vez en los 90's se convirtió en una adicción, mi favorita de esta gran banda...
Wow theres a lot of people on here who have been listening to them for a while, I just recently became familiar with them about a year ago and Im 18. I think there music will last a lot longer still.
not sure what shes saying but this song makes me want to fall in love again.would b first time in several yrs.powerful music, yet so gentle and soothing....WOW
Well, this has been a fun way of losing 3 hours of my life discovering these video gems... I really can't seem to stop watching these CT vids. Between Liz's vocal style and presence and the incredible sonic wash in the background, it doesn't get much better than this...
Hey pur69, you're still coming back to this incredible song. I can't leave it alone either. How can a voice give such chills? Youth, energy, emotion, abandon, power, just everything in one performance. Wow.
I like this mix more than the cd version. I heard someone say on a forum once that this song is like a sweet Japanese grandmother giving her grand kids stern advice and then getting happy and excited and bouncing off the walls like pinballs
Once the Cocteau Twins get under your skin you will never let them go. I keep comng back to the well of perfection. I know they will never reform, but I really wish that they could. The Go-Betweens managed it, so maybe it not beyond the realms of possibility.
Funny thing that while Liz is totally astounding here, her lyrics are at their most indecipherable ever. Just goes to show what actually makes for great music..

Where was this filmed?

Now I’m mad curious too
I'm jealous truly
this is the best live interpretation of any of their songs i have seen. even the colors used - the whole mood is captured here, and liz's voice is like crystal.
yes even the colors
Totes agree about the colours!
Sometimes she gets overwhelmed by nerves but she sounds so confident and strong here.
Been feeling pretty down, Cocteau Twins always lifts me up.
They are great like that! :)
My favorite ct song. Their music penetrates the soul.
Chris Kirby , Favorita e muito mais . !!!!!!
That whole "Love's Easy Tears" EP is my favorite record that I own
Same. It's hard to pick a favorite CT song, but this one is definitely one of them for me.
Saw them live in Detroit around this same year. Elizabeth Fraser yelled at the audience for being so mellow, and not dancing.
Like being caught in a torrential downpour of stardust...one of my fave CT tracks
Well put!
@@howardc8081 thanks!! Their music is such a multi sensory experience for me it's quite overwhelming at times...
wowie, she sure does look beautiful in this clip. her jacket is slick.
this is ridiculously good.. seriously,, wow

+tmielcarek You lucky lucky so and so. As I type I am turning green with envy. :)
+tmielcarek what was meeting her like?
you are very lucky i wish i could meet her and say thank you to her.
I think I just would faint in front of her XD
♥️
Best band ever
This song is so good. It’s spiritual
By far the best performance I've ever seen the group play. It somehow improves the original significantly with the post interlude vocals. Liz's voice is as good as it's ever been and the guitar sounds are simply from another planet.
Wonderful live performance. At their best, specially Liz Fraser. Dreamy
It was an absolute honor to grow up with such beautiful songs from Cocteau Twins. So sad that it had to end.
No other band compares to them. None.
your right everyone is crap compared to them.except the legendary David Bowie may he rest in peace .
If there are beautiful singing angels in heaven than they will look and sound like Elizabeth. She is my all time favorite musician. A truly God gifted woman!
One thing that amazes me is that she just never sounds bad...ever. God Bless Liz. Oh wait no need, already did!
Doesn't get much better than this
I have never seen another CT performance where Elizabeth looks and sounds this comfortable. She sounds stunning and looks as radiant as an angel that would greet you at the gates of Heaven.
Elizabeth Fraser's voice with Robin Guthrie's guitar is just pure heaven.
Oh my, that transition at 1:50 is stunning 😍
Yes - I’ve always thought that was remarkable; pretty much unique in pop music.
@@crazycrickeeet1964 more indie than pop

Liz looks particularly beautiful here
Liz is always beautiful!
yes she does...plus her joy and commitment to the song...she looks inspired
I agree
Perry B I agree with that too
Perry B SO AGREED!!! And sounds beautiful as well, always!😉

In my humble view this is better than the studio version.

Rainer Egon it really is a remarkable performance and a great recording ..
Orange Appled is imo absolutely one of their best tracks BUT in live versions :)
Just listened to both versions, I concur the Live version is even better.
Half Gifts IMO is better live on MTV most wanted, love that song sooo much
Yep, same with Pink Orange Red (the Tube version)
strange to think that at first, this song wasn't even a b-side; it was simply given away as a NME 7inch.
i remember that. had it for years, lost it moving.
And at last? - Even stranger I think, but at least there is youtube, otherwise it would probably be wasted completly in the dump of what is called culter today.
Eventually, it was released with the Love's Easy Tears ep.
Bahman Ghahremani only on cd
I saw them play in 92 or 93 in Wolverhampton (with Seefeel) and they were glorious, absolutely as good as i could ever have hoped. Seefeel were terrific too as it happens, so it was an all-time great gig for me.
I have this recorded on an old VHS somewhere from 1991 😀 snub TV 📺 great show
Dig it up please and upload. IT might be better quality than this shite

One of the best building intros. Great artistry!
This songs fills my existence like anything else...
I had forgotten how truly brilliant they were. Just brilliant and illuminating. A most beautifully haunting voice.
Best live performance ever. Liz is just totally stunning

I remember seeing this when it was on tv - and still blows me away! Thanks for posting this.
still a rush of inner tears of joy from this...all more powerful live renditions...thanx!!!

Not nearly as wild as the tour after that
I've loved the Cocteau Twins since I first discovered them in the early 90's but somehow managed not to hear this song. What a delight!
Que de souvenirs ! Liz est fantastique, je l'adore ! Merci pour la video...
Her voice is incredible, love it!!!
I feel full of joy when I hear this ! GREAT BAND!!!
Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!!! I miss them so much.
Amazing voice and style. Lowe this low range - amazing to think how high up the scale she can sail too. Something magical about her...
Amazing...pure bliss...amazing...beautiful...1994, I can never forget: lost the only live performance I could ever eventually see in my life, in Porto...this is sublime...thank you.
When you die you get taken to a room with a TV monitor and all the lyrics are shown... or maybe thats hell... cant decide
Pure magic. THANK YOU!
I so love this Band .. there will never be another like them!!
I never had any idea they were that fabulous live?!
Trop fort !!! J'adore !!!

I don't hear that, myself.
the version of orange applied on the stars & topsoil compilation, with liz's vocals double tracking, sounds perfect
what a song. Thanks so much for putting this up.
Utter gibberish. Utterly beautiful.

I could just sit and Liz sing to me all day!
Amazing band.
reminds me of 1993. takes me back to the halcyon days
the song of my life!
She looks so happy here.
57 secs "i love you" then a cheeky glance at robin its so cool and so sad they fell out CTs will live forever
The bells and guitars on this song are to die for.
Funny thing that while Liz is totally astounding here, her lyrics are at their most indecipherable ever. Just goes to show what actually makes for great music..
Beautiful
beyond compare....much missed
