I haven't watched a lot of this show, but I've seen several dances & as long as I have my right mind...I'll never forget this dance. To hell with the "breakage of the ruleage", this was awesome.
Yes we are told they broke the “rules”. But I contend that they did not. The previous week all the dancers were given the challenge to come up with something new. To do something the judges had never seen before. In that challenge no one said they had to follow any rules. They were told to be creative and do something the judges had never seen before. And they did just that. They broke hold in the middle of a quickstep. Something creative that the judges had never seen before. If the judges were going to be so picky they should have explained the challenge better.
@@JadahAhRianna ikr! Rules shmules! In Quickstep, they're supposed to maintain close body contact and only break hold at the end. Also, they're not supposed to do lifts...so basically everything they're weren't supposed to do, they did 😂 Essentially what Len said. Rules broken but spectacular routine 😂
Yes the Quickstep like all dances has rules. However the week before the judges gave the dancers a challenge. The dancers were told the judges wanted to see something new, something that has never been done before. And so Derek and Kim gave them just what they asked for and then they complained about it and judged them poorly. 🤷♀️
Best freestyle quickstep ever😂 ( my nickname for it) I always wished that the judges just ignored the fact that they broke all the rules of the quickstep and gave them 10’s anyway
Wrong dance to dock points for. This dance was in response to the challenge the judges gave all the dancers the week before. The judges told them to be creative and do something new, something the judges had never seen before and Derek and Kim delivered.
Excellent! I know they broke hold. But really those scores were too low. And the ones that had the highest scores of the night broke rules too. And was scored higher. The creativity alone should have been a ten.
I agree. And the challenge given by the judges the week before was for the dancers to do something the judges had never seen before. Come up with something new, something never done before, which they did. The judges reactions were ridiculous based on the challenge they gave the dancers.
There’s another thing about the show that’ll bug me sometimes. I know the judges scores they say make up 50%, but they give some people some pretty low scores while praising some others. For example Bristol Palin. She seemed like a sweet enough girl, but she stunk! How many people better than her left because the judges didn’t give her the proper suckage(if that’s even a word) score she deserved? They’ll make comments about how the viewers may have gotten it wrong, but forget the three of them truly have the greater impact of who wins and loses.
I watched this like a year and I swear there was one part where she was standing on his shoulders and they both fell forward into a summer salt, and now that’s not in this and I’m so confused- is there another dance where this happens?
despite all the illegal throws, lifts and breaking of hold the only thing that really annoyed me was the gaping between shawn and derek if there bodies were in a close proximatey then I would have enjoyed this performance that tiny bit more
"That was the best dance by far ever seen on DWTS." Why? Because they threw in gymnastic moves and jumped off onto mattresses at the end? I thought Sabrina and Louie's quickstep was 10 times better--and they stayed within the rules of the dance as well. I think Derek got to the point where he thought he could do anything he wanted to because DWTS and the fans gave him Golden Boy status. But the real creative genius choreographer on the show was the one who never got the attention that Derek did--Mark Ballas. After all, who taught Shawn to be such a good dancer in the first place?
Coming back and watching this again has not changed my opinion of this dance. I know that Derek's fans were drooling over it, but, sorry Kerry Ann, I think this far from being the best dance ever seen on DWTS, before or since. Too much gymnastics, a lift, a separation in the middle--this was Derek showboating again. I think it would have made a great freestyle. I remember when Mark and Chelsie did a jive, KA slammed the choreography as being out of place, which is exactly how I felt about this dance.

Derek don’t give a damn about the rules. 😂 He came to DANCE! ❤️
What were the rules lol. I’ve watched the video 3 times.

Derek's ego lost this for Shawn
A M A Z I N G! Best quick step I’ve seen!
Shawn is having so much fun!

Why? Because it was Derek Hough? Len was right: you dock someone points for breaking the rules, then you have to do it for everyone. Fair is fair.

Did someone forget to tell the band they were going to do that? Lol they all like stood up and look scared making Derek and Shawn were okay.
Hahaa! I think that was planned. They were supposed to stand up to cause that exact reaction 😃
