    Finally got myself an MC-101 as a bedside music sketchpad to go along with my primary music production center (MPC One) and found your videos really useful. Couldn't like them again, and couldn't subscribe twice, but thanks again for making these!

    I accesed to the scenes mode once by chance (not the temporary one) so i didn't know how i got it. I was looking everywhere and I got back where I should have started: with you Gabe! You kind of got me into the 101. Thank you bro!

    Scenes in the MC-101 seem to correspond loosely to patterns in the Digitone. Meaning, they have a higher hierarchy and "contains" all tracks. I find that I miss having the ability to mix and match patterns freely per track to accidentally discover new combinations. That seems to be working really well on the MC-101.
    On the Digitone, if you have four different drum track loops and three melody loops, you effectively have to create 12 Patterns if you want the ability to play those melody loops across all four drum loops.

    Excellent and informative as always. Didn't know about that shortcut Clip + Seq, cool. Loving and actively using Scene Chaining and Looper Export.

    Looper track export and re import into another track would benefit from being able to select a usb audio output on a pad by pad basis. This means you could build up a song made up of imported loops on one or two channels but still spilt them out for pc recording… Unless you just resample a whole bunch of stuff and bring the clips back in at a later time.

    I must say 1.7x is great update and the best so far. Looper track clip export feature is a true game changer because it makes 101 a quite capable sampler now. Because of 60s sample limitation on looper track I bought an iPad and Koala Sampler...just day before 1.7 release :) And I almost don't use it because I can record clip on looper track, add fx's export as wave and import into pad on drum track. Also slice sample is really not so bad on 101. Seriously. Now I understand what many meant saying hearing what I do is more important than seeing in music. Of course I'd like to have visual representation of my sample in addition to hearing but for my simple and basic needs what 101 offers is OK. And I also made full 6 min song from start to end using scene chaining without even touch a box. If they add some kind of fade in and out automation in the future that would be almost everything I need...for now :) I don't ask for sound design because I know Roland will never do that.

    I'm having an issue when recording into reaper the sounds of the mc 101 are a little too quiet even when increasing the volumes sliders. is there a way to fix this?

  • @RosssRoyce

    What if a scene contains clips that are already chained” in a sequence. Would this chain be executed by a simple play of the “scene”?

  • @RosssRoyce

    Can we have 4 looper tracks? Thanks!
    Ps I want to bounce a lot, for complex sounds..

    Never understood why increasing Cutoff increases the release and elongates the sound in parallel?.?

    I made a lot of projects on the pre-1.7 firmware’s and clip chained multiple and long clips in the scenes. With 1.7 you are able to chain those scenes… but you are stuck with 127 counts. What a bummer 🤦🏻‍♂️

    I tried the novation also, but was stymied, so I returned it. I was lost. This angst was furthers by my inability to see 100%. Please help if you can.

    hi gabe, thanks for sharing & one question: can you live record into chained scenes? thanks a lot!

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      Theoretically, but you'd need to set up separate clips for each scene, since scenes are just collections of clips.

    • @m.bonfedi
      @m.bonfedi Před 3 lety

      @gabe miller thanks! (and - coming from the circuit OG - maybe i'm still confused by clips/scenes. but i'd love to live record into a larger arrangement which, you know, isn't possible with the OG. maybe i should just try it out with the 101;-))

      @@m.bonfedi I have the same frustration, I'm piecing it together, the scenes seem to mute tracks when it goes to the next scene urgh

  • @mymockumentary9716
    @mymockumentary9716 Před 3 lety

    how does a scene attach to clips? I've chained scenes and some tracks will not play back, this is really frustrating, and I thought I was super intelligent lol (love your channel btw, I'm wondering when will you graduate into analogue?) :)

    • @visisydandthevoid
      @visisydandthevoid Před 3 lety +1

      In my experience, the first 8 clips from all tracks are stored within their corresponding scene. After the first 8 I have to manually store the clips I want to specific scenes. Maybe I'm just missing something, but that's what I had to do. Only one of my tracks has ever gone beyond the first 8 tho.

    • @mymockumentary9716
      @mymockumentary9716 Před 3 lety

      @@visisydandthevoid thank you and that's interesting because I create my (first 8) clips without thinking of structure. The only way I see around this is transport them all to 9-16, then order them back into 1-8 in an order that has song structure. Wow, thanks again:)

    Such an unintuitive way to create music

    • @visisydandthevoid
      @visisydandthevoid Před 3 lety +1

      Idk, it's pretty easy actually. You just organize your clips into song parts, and play them in the order you want when you record.
