I can't speak for others but I do enjoy your long walking tour videos while I'm working on drawing and improving my skills I like to look up and see where you are and the shops and cultural information you sometimes point out or all the cute cats that you love but can't take home it's very enjoyable. Even before everything that went down last year, I love being able to explore alongside people as they show off places from all over the world, the fact that you make your video's down to earth and enjoyable is always a bonus. So please keep exploring and being curious about the world around you. Even when you are unsure about the area you are in, it is fun to learn alongside you for the first time.

Wow it's taking me back to when I lived there. I was stationed there for 2 years from May 2019-2021. I lived like 10min walk away uphill from that 7-Eleven thats next to the 4-way bridge in the ginza (the big indoor bazaar/mall; timestamp 31:50) in a area called Matsukawa-cho. Really enjoyed being in close proximity to the ginza but still far from downtown. Please make more videos of Sasebo and feel free to talk to Americans that live there.

The McDonald's is a little bit different but very much the same. One time they got my order wrong and my girlfriend told my friends girlfriend. She then swiped my burger onto the floor and went downstairs to tell a worker. The worker ran upstairs cleaned it up then went back and brought me a new burger the way I originally ordered it. Lol. The best part of this story is that the girl that brought me my burger came through my cash register when I was working part time at old navy in San Diego 11 years later. She had married a sailor that got stationed in SD.

Lots of places are closing because a lot of the smaller towns and cities are dying off due to both low birth rate in Japan as well as young people moving to the big cities like Tokyo and Osaka for job opportunities. Sasebo has lost a lot of population in the last thirty years. It’s really sad because it’s a great little city.

Shinichi, you keep asking if we like these videos. Don't worry! This is the kind of thing I love to have running while I work or play games. Whenever you sound like you found something interesting, I will look at the screen to see what's going on. This does not mean that the video is boring to watch with my full attention, it just happens to be perfect as second screen material. There are a lot of people like me these days, who like to combine work and different forms of entertainment, it makes it much more fun to get through the day. Therefore I actually wish that you would make even longer videos like this. If you still find it fun to walk around a lot, of course. It takes me back to when I visited Japan two years ago. I walked around Kyoto and Tokyo, often up to 12 hours a day, and I feel like I barely scratched the surface. And you also show me interesting lesser-known places that I would love to visit on my next trip, when the plague has ended. Thank you for your hard work.

In 1983, I had a chance to visit Sasebo, Japan for a few days while I serving in the U.S. Navy. I was on an aircraft carrier called the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, which was going on an around-the-world cruise. I remember it was kind of cold, and there were so many shopping centers to walk around and see what they had to offer. There is a Naval Base in Sasebo that allows U.S. Sailors and Marines to visit the mainland from their respected ships when they come into port. My friend and I decided to stay at a hotel near Nagasaki, and we both liked the place. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff was courteous and nice to us. I still remember the comfortable futon beds in that room, and I slept very well while in it. I also remember seeing an American movie while in that city, and it was called "Flashdance." It was odd seeing the Japanese script for subtitles while the movie was playing. My friend enjoyed the fresh sushi at a place we went to. I was too afraid to try it. I also remember seeing so many vending machines for anything you can think of. The guys from the ship enjoyed the vending machines that sold these huge containers of beer. All in all, I had a nice time visiting this city. Thank you, Shinichi, for showing me this city because it gave me so many memories of seeing it again.

I noticed in Japan that there seems to be a small window of time (like 10 to 6) that the small stores, shops, and food stalls are open and that's when everyone is on the move, which makes it hard to visit them. Love the walk around Sasebo, brings back memories, especially of the shopping Arcade area. Spent 2 years in Sasebo as I work for the Navy and was there from 2016 to 2018. There was a family owned coffee shop that we really like in that area, it was off the main drag, if memory serves me correctly, it's was off the side street where 7/11 was at, if you were coming out of the 7/11 you would turn right and then the next side street you would have turned right again and about half way down on the left, it was called Kunimatsu. I enjoyed the Sasebo burger while I was there, they say the BlueMoon was were the burger originated, not sure how true that is as I heard several other places lay claim. It was during this time I found your guys Tabieats channel and have been a fan ever since. Keep up the good work.

@@Shinichisworld Glad you enjoyed the area, one of the tours of the islands you were referring to is the 99 Island tour, there is or at least 2 boats that do the tour and are located at the same location as the Aquarium, it's would be a hike from downtown, but a not a bad taxi ride. One of the boats is shaped like a pirate ship. I don't remember what the price was. The name 99 Island Tour is miss leading, they say that there is actually over 200 islands as you pointed out most are not inhabited. If your are adventurous you can actually rent Kayaks and do a self paddle tour of the islands. Best views in Sasebo in my humble opinion is from the Hotel Yumiharinoka, which has two great restaurants and a bar. If you are visiting you would have to take either a taxi or there was a bus that ran every so often I believe from the bus station, beautiful drive, but would be a long walk up the mountain. If you ever get back I would suggest checking it out, the buffet is great, but the views are better. I lived in Akasaki area, just down from a Daily's Convenience store and right behind the Akasaki Jr High School. Got to hear the band practice on most Saturday's. Stay safe and healthy.

There’s just one area with the shotengai. It’s called yonkacho shotengai. Please ask someone at the Sasebo station. They will be able to help.
