Yeah, this was a hard video to make. Intermittent power failure on a efoil is the hardest thing to diagnose and we did it for one instance. This is arguably the hardest version of the power loss to figure out and fix. The ESC box can also be bad...they are expensive if you're out side of warranty so checking for water is definitly a good move. Also, we have had clients change the ESC and still had trouble with the unit because they had water in the board even though they had "no damage". Damage happens and can be difficult to find sometimes. Use the tricks and tips in this video to see if there is water in your board and find and fix those leaks. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Phil. your creativity and knowledge are why I enjoy working with you. Both of my Lift 2 and 3 boards sporadically threw the sudden power loss thing at me. Both boards were carefully treated and did not have any holes, scratches or dents. But both boards leaked around the hatch and water would pool in the front portion of the hatch compartment. That is probably how water got into the foam around the antenna. I ultimately sealed the hatch compartment by removing the gasket, putting silicone sealant in the gasket channel, and replacing the gasket, thus raising the gasket and improving the seal. No more water in the compartment. I will pull the antenna and see if I have any water. Not sure how I will drain it if water is present because there are no holes (I think).

I am dealing with same thing right now. Sudden power loss, water around antenna, history of water leaking into hatch compartment. I need to try the silicone sealant-gasket treatment. (This needs a CZcams video!) But first how do I get the water out of my board!

I have a Lift4 that I purchased from you guys last summer. Took it out for the first time the other day and it did great. I took it out a second time yesterday and it did well.
However, I decided to just lay on the board and cruise around at 1-2mph for something different. After a while, I noticed intermittent power loss. Power would engage and disengage.
I'm worried to take the the board out again as I don't want to get stuck in the middle of the lake.
So the Lift4 boards do not have the antenna that goes to the front of the board?
I am at work now but will check when I get home. I'm also going to replace the remote battery as it's been installed since I bought the board. Fingers crossed its not a big issue. 🤞

You can put the remote in test and see blue tooth signal strength

You're right, but in these instances the issue is only intermittent so hard to diagnose as it will usually test fine on the beach and then still lose power intermittently while riding on the water.

As it turns out, my antenna and its passage through the Styrofoam in the nose are dry. The motor cutout mystery continues.

It is the ESC in that case. Another one is to check to make sure the end of the antenna is tight on the cable. I've seen them loose before and caused a power loss issue. If you're board is under warranty get with lift and they will replace the esc. It is a tough one.

If in warranty open a case with Lift. I had a v3 board that did that and they replaced the ESC. ymmv

@@midlerp definitely without V3 board. Make sure that that antenna is tightly attached.
