Mg sentry's lower cooldown makes it more useful as a diversion or light perimeter security. It doesn't have the staying power of the gatling or other sentries, but it's low cooldown effectively gives you a decoy you can throw to draw enemy aggro. That's how I tend to use it, throw it in one direction and head in another to divert most of the enemies chasing you :3
another point for MG vs gatling, the MG turrets can stack over time, while gatling only 1 can be active. you could in theory let them build up somewhere
@@ozzkur this point is a bit of a neutral one for me, as mg turrets A) don't have a lot of ammo and B) turret battery life (I'm fairly sure that's a thing, correct me if wrong) would mean you can only have 2-3 active anyways. At least with me using them like the kid I left behind to "go get some milk from the grocery store", I never have time to stay and stack 'em :3
I've only seen two of your videos, but I'm already in love with your categorical approach to explaining each build's purpose, your transitions, and even the little diagrams you manage to cook up. I hope you keep making content and you've earned a happy subscription!
I’ve been really enjoying the tenderizer 90 dmg and insanely low recoil, it may not have as much of a magazine only 30 but it helps in a pinch when you get caught with your pants down when reloading your mg
Fun fact about the recoil reduction armor. It works while you are standing or moving as well. Though I don’t recommend firing the HMG while moving still
@@NomadHD2 Yea when I play solo... or depending on how light the rest of the squad is on anti-tank, I usually take the OPS cause with the stun grenade, I can take on everything shy of the strider/bile titan, kinda pushes the build into jack of all trades territory. I'm bad at using senturies but I wanna give this build a try cause I almost never go without HMG & Peak physique these days!
Nice build, but you will not convince me Guard Dog is bad :) As poor as it would perform, would be funny to see a full "tank" build. Marshmellow man armor, shield generator pack, shield relay, and some close range weapons like Arc Blitzer
I just don't like pairing that mg guard dog with the heavy machine gun, especially with the hmg's ammo economy not being great. I'm not opposed to making full gimmick builds, I'll keep the tank soldier in the back of my mind.
I love the HMG. My personal build just replaces the offensive stratagems with the 500kg and 380 barrage. The former for beefy enemies and the latter for clearing objectives and outposts. My primary of choice is the regular breaker shotgun. While yes the fire version is better against the bugs the regular one still has flexibility and really the only nerf it got was increased recoil and reduced mag size by 3 rounds
The HMG build is awesome. However, I would not use the HMG against chaff enemies; you just do not have enough ammo and its not worth it. I have always kept the HMG for medium enemies and, if needed, for heavies. The turret is chaff clearing, the gatling barrage as well (although it can damage heavies). The HMG is perfectly capability at addressing everything that the bots throw at you. Against bugs ... well, I would be cautious to use it against chargers. Often enough, you end up between the bug breach and the charger if you want to get in its back. Very dangerous. The HMG , the railgun, and the laser cannon (probably the autocannon as well) are somewhere between "chaff clearing", and "anti tank" - they are focussed on "anti medium" although they can damage heaviers or chaff.
@@NomadHD2 I agree! I formulated my comment in a misleading way: I wanted to say: "the magazine size is too small to waste it for chaff enemies". The supply backpack is mandatory as you pointed out, regardless of whether you use it as primary or if you focus on medium-sized enemies.
I'd say this build is a jack of all trades, especially if you swap out a stratagem for a BT killer such as OPS (which also works great with factory striders). HMG+stuns deals with heavy units very well.
So if that 4th slot was an airstrike or orbital precision strike, I'd throw it in that column. I don't disagree, though. It does lean into the jack of all.
The sentry you get on is 100x better against bots because it can kill everything (even striders if done right) and can be used like an AA gun against the flying mfers. In bugs it sucks tho
@@NomadHD2 fair tbh, sometimes I dont get any use out of it :/ but when it does get down it usually shreds everything. Which is even more fun with a buddy 🫡
im going to say it forever the ammo economy isnt bad for the HMG unless you use it like a primary against bots pair it with the balistic shield (when they remove the impact bug) and u can shred everything also factory strider is no problem with the HMG shoot the chin guns then one mag in the factory doors and ur done
I like to use the HMG and MG as a primary basically because it just feels right to mow down a breach of bugs or dropship of bots. But 100% they can be used more tactically to cripple massive targets and shred the heavies when needed.
I definitely agree on your assessment for this build against bugs, but I honestly think you could at least change the factory strider to caution while using the hmg. It can take out the chin guns fairy easily, and if you lay fire into the eye it will go down eventually. Even better if you can get underneath and fire into the belly. It's definitely risky but it honestly works more often than not for me, and you feel incredibly badass in the process 😊
I probably could have mentioned you can help disable both the massive enemies, bile titan sack and factory strider turrets with the HMG. I may have been downplaying it for comedic sake.
@@NomadHD2 haha I feel ya. It's definitely not super viable against the Bile Titan. You can take out the sacs but nothing beyond that, so if it isn't damaged in some other way you're definitely out of luck.
MG rover has ammo issues on 9 but below 9 it's great against bots, headshots basically everything rocks Devastators Combines really well with HMG/Railgun/AMR, it gives you breathing room to headshot those Hulks
@@NomadHD2 I hear that, I prefer HMG with Supply pack too. Give AMR w MG Rover a try though, it's nasty! I use Precision Strike, AMR, MG Rover, and Rocket Sentry for a fun "handle anything" loadout. Find a spot where you can lure them in, drop the turret and then just shoot anything that even looks funny at the turret. I like a hill personally so that once they reach me, (which they only do on 8 or 9) I can just retreat back and then they're now each cresting the hill one at a time and have to go through my BS all over again
I'll give it a try, I'm having a blast just trying different combos. And with tier 10 difficulty coming I'm going to need to put together a few different kits.
PATCH 01.001.002 added some new bugs and bots. The HMG is equipped to deal with them all! Rejoice, this build is Tier 10 approved with a decent squad.

100% agree. I'm not usually a fan of the tenderizer but with the MG or hmg it complements them well.

Good substitute for the last stratagem slot has got to be the orbital precision strike, I’ve been using it like a 500kg
Big fan of the orb precision strike, it would round this build out to truly handle everything.

For tier 10 coming out, I would also be slapping in the 500kg for that massive destroying potential. I'm excited to see what will work with tier 10.
I made a recording of using the fear mongering build so I might post it

HMG can actually take out the Factory Strider's chin gatling guns, then run underneath and can damage the pod doors.
It can and also take out those titan belly sacks. It's definitely helpful at crippling those massive units.
Hmg is probably the easiest weapon to solo a factory strider with
Hmg can kill a bile titan but it takes like 2 mags and you gotta shoot under where the sack used to be. Pretty fun to do but not practical.
Sounds exactly like the thing to do if you're the last resort and really just wanna go ham. A true Helldiver moment.
You get a like Helldiver excellent
It has fairly good belly shot damage actually.
Oy.
It ain't a build.
