- I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Golgari Lands-Pox, a deck from Patreon subscriber Matt! Matt wanted me to build a traditional land destruction deck with the max hate, with Wasteland, Ghost Quarter, Sinkhole, Smallpox, Assassin's Trophy, even Isochron Scepter to keep doing it! Life From the Loam and Crucible of Worlds keep the hate coming and Exploration pulls you ahead. And watch out for The Gitrog Monster! Let the hate flow through you with this strategy straight out of Magic's past!

I like the philosophy of decks like this - how much fun you have isn’t based on how much you’re winning but on how little fun your opponent is having :D
it's actually fairly important to a healthy format imo. you need decks like this that may prey on top tier decks, that can keep the format in check. With UR Delver, this should be the kind of deck that would keep that one in check.
I've heard that fun is zero-sum in Magic. Let's lean in.
I have way more fun playing against decks like this, than playing against the 100th UR Delver in a row.
It’s always fun to bully the bully
@@sobman This kind of deck is only important to the formats that already have it. Non-eternal formats really don't need this.
Every time, I skip the 50 second intro then sit and watch the whole 2 hour video. I am efficiency.

Watching Delver mull to 3 and still just grind you to death was tough to watch. Ragavan is so much more heinous in Legacy than it is in Modern
Delver didn't murder him. The most broken 1-drop creature in the history of Magic (Ragavan) did.
Meh people talking about how OP opponents deck is to come back from that, did you watch the game? Brian literally only cast Loam all game (Trophy was used as a Wasteland). You kind of need to cast actual spells to win games.
@@ryanchase9332 yeah sorry I meant Ragavan
@@aidasdomasevicius8098 People are talking about Ragavan being a problem because it is a problem. It doesn't matter that he only found Loam and cast Loam because of poor drops. The point is that he Wasted them out of the mana game, but it doesn't matter when there is a one drop creature that not only attacks for 2 and exiles the top card of the opponent's library, it creates mana rocks that you can't interact with outside of things like Collector Ouphe or Null Rod, and those are NOT cards you bring against Delver lists. Again, yes, he drew poorly and only cast Mox Diamond, Life from the Loam, and one Assassin's Trophy, but it doesn't change the fact that a single one drop creature made the game a loss.
I'm not a legacy grinder so I'm not really interested in discussing the health of the format, I am more interested in discussing the game played out in the video. At 7:45, he decided not to wasteland the wasteland, and at 8:25 he decided to not fight over the ragavan with cabal pit. Both of these decisions put together ended up causing him to lose the game. If he was planning on playing the mana denial strategy why did he let the opponent dash ragavan twice? It's not like it's a secret how that card works or how to play around it.
Gotta admit. I've honestly stopped playing legacy until Ragavan gets banned. I just think the ragavan strategies are too powerful and efficient to allow for a very fun legacy format.
I have always enjoyed playing ur delver but wizards has been pushing it too hard in recent years
Modern feels the same honestly. Strategies have folded to just people playing the same red cards in every deck that plays red cards etc.
What’s so terrible about it is that they banned dreadhorde arcanist because they were worried about how UR was getting to good, and then they made it much better.
Frankly, if ragavan and/or explosive iteration get banned, I think the format is going to be totally dominated by urza’s saga, which doesn’t sound terribly fun either.
It's annoying to because Ragavan would still have been very strong as a 1/1, or if it didn't have dash. I like the idea of the card but they just pushed it a bit too far.
@@AntoineHorns could be a 1/1 and "if Ragavan deal combat damage to a player, you can prevent that damage. If you do, create a Treasure token".
"Don't beat children, it's bad"
> Bosh, 2021
I'm a mandated reporter.
44:00 if you crop for tabernackle and play urborg you can tap it for mana.
Yup. Tight play!
Hey, good games! The mull to 3 was definitely grim, but that Mox Diamond was really clutch, and I had to run my Ragavan into the Cabal Pit to get the creature in the yard for my DRC. Certainly enjoyed the set against you!
Important lessons learned in that one. :)
Turns out, Legacy decks need answers to Ragavan haha.
Ragavan a card powerful enough to win on a mull to 3
What a deliciously hateful brew. Good stuff.
It probably wouldn't have mattered from the position, but in M1G1 you missed being able to use cabal pit during the opponents turn to shrink the DRC during the last 2 turns. It would have let you live for at least 1 more turn.
Btw, I respect you working with someone new to the format on a brew they were having fun with. Even if they paid you for the opportunity, you still tried to make his vision work 😁
I love every shape and form of Loam Pox, this is something I wanted to try building (I just build decks for fun and playtest them against myself lol, don't have time to play them) you have no idea how happy this makes me! Loam Pox FTW. The only things I am surprised for not seeing is cards that fuck shuffling like opposition agent to mitigate the drawbacks of ghost quarters and assassins trophy as well as urza's saga, a brutal land. Also I think this deck needs an answer to kaldra compleat (I am an idiot I didn't see the sudden edict forget what I said).
This list had some specific rules attached about cards I had to play. Check out my Legacy video playlist for my more focused Loam Pox lists.
@@BoshNRoll I've already seen them all unfortunately.
The greatest thief in the multiverse strikes again.
That last game made me happy. It’s nice to see reanimator catch some justice.
I've always loved decks like this -- sinkhole, strip mine, land destruction, anti-fun.
But I guess they're not popular because they well ... they suck this badly lol.
Thanks for playing it -- at least it was fun for us to watch
I think the loam pox you did most recently before this has been my favorite iteration, but this one is very cool too!
Yeah the Mox Diamond + Saga one is the best build so far.
ngl, the deck idea is pretty sweet
The scepter and smallpox is a win con
Scepter only imprints instants
@@emerson685 well poo
ragavan is a lot like deathrite shaman where you just sit it in play on turn 1 and it nickel-and-dimes your opponent to death
Ragavan is such a cool and fun and healthy card.
This itches all of my little MtG sweet spots. Lands? Check! Isochron Scepter? Check! Loam? Check! Froggy boy? Check! Land Destruction? Checkarooni!
I made it just for you. :)
Lands decks are so satisfying to watch (unless you get regavanned or dacked)
Favorite mtg channel!
Thanks! 🙏🏻
this is soo cool
Brian going off about Ragavan during the first match 😂
I've had ENOUGH
@@BoshNRoll You've been so patient about it - saying the format doesn't need any bans, etc.... join the dark side #RagaBan :P
Ragavan's got a Ragaban coming
After they're done printing mh2, though...
im wondering if a dakmor salvage might be wanted, you could set up the gitrog+dakmor at cleanup loop,
At this point that Deathrite Shaman is banned seems like a joke. If the monke stays, un-ban Deathrite to give non red-blue strategies some gas to keep up.
I feel like Gitrog doesn't belong here, seems like a one of that more often than not is just going to get milled over with LFTL. I feel like replacing it with Nether Spirit or Bloodghast would be better.
Oooo I like that
What about taking out the explorations and replacing with copies of encroach? I ran them in my pox deck. Hit a fetch outta their hand end then get another land with smallpox the next turn.
Yes sir…
Encroach on the play and smallpox turn two. That’s the dream.
Isochron also interacts poorly with Sphere. (First match sideboarding.) Any match you bring Sphere in, you should drop Isochron.
Ragavan is totally balanced! :p
In round 4 vs elves doesn’t fetch for green, crop on their end step for tabernacle, play urborg sudden edict kind of lock them?
kataki is must have card or stony silence 🔕 or dranith magistrate is a must play ▶️ with rag either that or gut shot in everything
Looking back at this a few hours later, it feels like the deck needs a secondary draw engine... maybe a few Sylvan Library? Classic lands is of course on Loam + Valakut Awakening.
Also - this should have a Karakas, right? It doesn't cast your spells, but can be a clean way to keep a Ragavan from connecting, or keep an Emrakul off of the table.
Land d in legacy that sounds fun
Ayula's Influence may be interesting in this deck, two copies over scepter and sinkhoke.
That's a sweet idea!
I played a league with the saga lands deck from a couple weeks ago and lost a game the exact same way of wasteland locking my opponent but they got mox diamond off rag. I imagine it hurt you as badly as I hurt after losing that game haha.
That one will haunt my dreams.
I noticed that on your podcast you said that people wanted you to change your mid video ad to not specify that it was in the middle of the video and that you actually made that change I don't really have anything useful to say just leaving the comment for the interaction algorithm
It was on my to do list anyway, finally made the time
I do own a set of beta sinkholes :/ I would love to find a reason to use them.
Do it. Let the hate flow through you.
Let's go!
That is alot of crucible. Those are great when everything is up and running. Crop rotation gets you up and running.
I think no card selection is really hard. Seems this build assumes alot, like opponent not wining as you draw cards from the top.
When will the name loam pox get shortened to lox?
Never, because then you'd have to eat it on a bagel instead of playing cards.
If anything this channel is a testament to banning Ragavan in eternal formats. The amount of times a loss could be attributed to the opponent turning him sideways a couple times it innumerable.
G1 T3 should have probably wasted their wasteland to play around dashed rag, then next turn kill delver.
No maze of ith in a lands deck is kinda wild to me - the card is so good
Like I get there is removal but maze just sitting in play and being able to loam it back is very strong
A copy of raven's crime might not be crazy too
I talk about Maze of ith, why I didn’t play it, and what it would take to fit it in the list throughout the video.
@@BoshNRoll Must have missed any specific mention of maze - caught the bit talking about wanting more crop rots if playing more utility lands. I agree with your thoughts that the list is caught between two different ideas and not committing to either.
Why was the first opponent playing Steam Vents? Am I missing something?
Delver has been playing 2 steam vents lately as volc 5-6
You need to be able to cast Rag T1 with Daze backup as much as possible. Basic Mountain casts rag but isn't an Island for Daze. Basic island works with Daze but doesn't cast Rag.
So, the solution is to add some "painful Volcanic Islands"
Ragavan is so broken you can't play any lands that don't cast him on T1. It would be worth paying 5 life if that was the only option; 2 life isn't even an ask.
"we do not beat Oko." well there's nothing that does!
Veil of summer worked wonders protecting from Oko but Oko ran it so 🤷♂️
Game 1, why not waste your own bojuka, loam it back and next turn remove delirium from the DRC, so that they are in range of cabal pit again?
Timestamp? Happy to look at the spot. I think I didn’t have enough time or land drops to pull it off?
why not a small saga package as well with a hex Parasite lol 😆
Because this was a stipulation deck from a patreon sub who wanted to see maximum land destruction. I do play Saga in my other loam pox builds.
@@BoshNRoll I remember I was being silly like adding mo package mo package
Love the videos but any time bosh has a loam in the graveyard you can bet 3 cards are getting tossed in during the draw step. There are points where bosh has nothing and no lands he has will save him and his plan is loam still. :( I kind of wish he leaned on the rest of the decks more than just loam dredge loam
Turn 2, 6 Lands in hand, no nonland permanents on the field
"Yup, we're in business"
still seems so weird to me...
This is not normal Magic haha
I only watched the first half of the video so far but you are running into 2 major problems the Pox community been dealing with the last 2 years. 1. Land Destruction isn’t good enough for Legacy anymore (as a hard lock) 2. Pox can’t close games fast enough after the temporary tempo shift Land Destruction buys you. We have done a lot of brewing in the Pox discord to overcome these issues with some interesting results.
This is a stipulation league sent to me by a Patreon subscriber. This is not my "best" build of Pox, it's just a take on it. Check out my Legacy video playlist, I have a bunch of Loam Pox recorded already and think my most recent one with Mox Diamond and Urza's Saga is the best build I've had yet.
@@BoshNRoll roger. I understand this isn’t your list. But wanted to give some context on why I think it was doing so poorly.
Ragavan definitely needs to be banned
It seems like every time I see black green pox stuff, it wins because it's black green stuff, not from the pox plan. Like you're probably supposed to be beating 4 color with your pox plan but ya got bodied
14:16 YES, EVERYONE AGREES FUCK RAGAVAN. WORST CARD EVER.
15:05 The game is over, you should just concede at that point and just move on. It only makes you more depressed to try to cling to impossible odds.
It's getting really fucking bad with Ragavan. I was going to start playing Legacy using Manatraders, but I don't want to until they nerf the FUCK out of Delver. Take Ragavan and Daze. Those are the most problematic cards. I've said it before, I will beat this dead horse into the fucking ground, but if DRS was too good as a 1 Mana Planeswalker, why is Ragavan allowed to exist? In M1G1, you may have drawn poorly, and only cast 3 different-named spells, but it doesn't negate the fact that a a One Drop came in on ONE turn, changed the entire context of the game, and then made it so you were buried under a mana source generator that couldn't be interacted with on a normal basis. A mulligan to 3 being changed on a SINGLE TURN with a SINGLE RED creature is egregious.
