Saw this in the theater. We knew the doll was alive...not THAT alive. When he first starts yelling, that was like being on a rollercoaster. People screamed, laughed, screamed some more. The technology was unlike anything we'd really seen at that time. It's one of my favorite moviegoing experiences.
I can imagineee that’s one of my favorite scenes in horror period. The suspense built from the battery reveal, to his head snapping back until you finally see he’s really a GROWN ASS MAN in a doll’s body😂😂😂😂😂💀
Fun fact the detective who shoots Charles Lee ray at the beginning of the movie is also the head vampire in the 80s movie Fright Night and the talking part of Jack skelington in a nightmare before Christmas

Oh, my god, this movie freaked me out when I was younger! My dad recorded a VHS copy of this movie as well as BATMAN 89 AND GHOSTBUSTERS 2 on the same tape. I was scared of Chucky, then I learned to love him by watching the sequels: CHILD'S PLAY 2, 1990 CHILD'S PLAY 3, 1991 Bride Of Chucky ,1998 Seed Of Chucky, 2004 Curse Of Chucky, 2013 Cult Of Chucky, 2017. There's even a a TV series that aired on Syfy in OCTOBER. Season 2 is coming next year.

Man chucky scared the living shit out of me. As someone who has a little sister who had so many cabbage patch kids and dolls I was traumatized by the concept of a doll coming to life and killing me lol

Annabelle is haunted and you cannot see or control the paranormal attacks. I rather be chased by Chucky than to be haunted/curse by Annabelle to which it haunts and follows me everywhere I go.
i like how he checked the good guy shoes of chucky 12:30 but it had no flour on it and then when andy is in the room and he looks at chuckys shoes it has flour on it
I think the most interesting thing about this movie is the fact that they have an important Haitian God running throughout the whole franchise and it's the most consistent thing.

Never looked at dolls the same way again and at the time they had that commercial for the My Buddy dolls they had a boy and girl version it totally creeped me out. Love the reaction Drews stolid expression especially when Chucky tried knifing the guy between the legs had me cracking up and Dallas saying it was like the Shining in miniature. Here are a few more to put on the list if you have not already (2000) The Cell with Jennifer Lopez, (2000) Pitch Black with Vin Diesel and (1999) Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon.
to be fair John (aka Dr Death) was not a bad man...he didn't believe in abusing the power like Charles did. he only told Charles because he was being tortured by him and he thought he would live if he told Charles what to do. But Charles was so evil he killed him anyway. But John told the mum how to stop Chucky and THAT was probably the most important moment of all.

Don't know if you guys knew, your obviously too young to know, but the Good Guy Chucky doll is actually an adaptation of the real 80s doll My Little Buddy. Which just like in the film, was a very popular toy back then. And was a bit pricey. Child's Play wasnt scary, but it did & still does have a creepy factor to it imo. I guess bc I still remember when it 1st hit theaters. At the end When he said "Hi I'm Chucky, Wanna Playyyyyyy", that was Charles's soul leaving the doll, that's why the voice changed from evil to friendly. Creeps me out a bit still 😂 The 80s horror films are in some cases inferior to today's technology, though this was ground breaking. But they're still in most cases better because they were NEW ideas. Andy looking back through the door in the end at Chuckys body always makes me go awwww & smh. He loved that doll so much.

ah Charles Lee Ray (aka Chucky) i can't believe this film came out the year of my birth...i have to live with that bad omen. but honestly one of the best facts about this character is that he was named after three real serial killers; Charles Manson, Lee Harvey Oswald (the guy who assassinated Kennedy) and James Earl Ray (the guy who assassinated Martin Luther King Jr). this is a horror/ slasher series that has a comedic side to it but is still so dark in its own way. i genuinely prefer it to Halloween and Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street...but those are good too.

One thing I know about the fictional serial killer named Charles Lee Ray AKA Chucky: He can only kill 7 to 74 year olds regardless of gender, but NOT little babies & children under 6.
Chucky definitely isn't scary watching it as an adult but when your 6 or 7 years old watching it that's different. For 1988 its a pretty good horror movie, I would say its more of a comedy horror.

One thing I know about the fictional serial killer named Charles Lee Ray AKA Chucky:
He can only kill 7 to 74 year olds regardless of gender, but NOT little babies & children under 6.
That's a interesting fact
Chucky definitely isn't scary watching it as an adult but when your 6 or 7 years old watching it that's different. For 1988 its a pretty good horror movie, I would say its more of a comedy horror.
Yeah watching it at 6 would freak you out
