Hey, what's up, guys! Nuno here! Today itâs a special videoâŠ. Itâs a request that many of you asked, and itâs actually quite simple to do. How to add Megascans vegetation in Lumion!
Iâll show you step by step two ways to make this, and Iâll show you how to avoid a common mistake people make when importing these vegetation assets into Lumion.
This is done using Lumion rendering software for architectural visualization and Quixel Megascans. Itâs a great 3D render software that saves a ton of time for architects because it helps you achieve the level of detail and realism not available in any other similar software.
Lumion is fully compatible with most 3D modeling software, including Revit, SketchUp, ArchiCAD, 3ds Max, Rhino, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and many others.

Hi Nuno, How do you fix the problem of the back side of the leaves without 3DS max and Lime Exporter. I am using Sketchup in my case. Thanks :) Great Video !
Hi ! Thx for your videos,
Did you subscribe to MS in order to do this ? I saw they give a 30 days tryout and somes samples but is it really worth it ? From a strict lumion addons I mean
@ROTZ GFX thanks for the answer! :)
@@beeeeber for me it is worth it. I do have a subscription. They have really high-quality assets and textures that I'm all the time using. :)
hey sandipan here, Thanks for informing me about this video, very helpful to me. Can you please make a video on car animation and import it to lumion. A proper informative video requesting from you. Thanks. Love from India
Fantastic video, Nuno. Very helpful tutorial with great results.
Glad it was helpful! :)
Incredible, thank you, I'm learning so much now đđđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»
I'm glad!
very helpful video! Thanks for amazing content
Glad it was helpful! :)
Fantastic. đđđ
Hello Nuno! Great video! I have a doubt regarding the maps from Maxtree. When we download the assets there are 2 kinds of normal maps, one that is the "normal" and the other is called "direct x". Which one should I use for Lumion?! Thanks!
very useful, tks nuno
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thank you. Am using archicad and rendering with lumion when i import 3ds models i have a problem in material and sometimes sizing is there any solution?
Hi Nuno, firstly thank you for this training. For example, if I want to use PBR material (only material not with model) in Lumion. Are the same process valid?
What I mean; Normal map invert green channel, Gloss map copy to Normal map channel....... is it correct?
how to do the opacity mask in lumion 12? is there a shortcut instead of using Photoshop ? thank you.
is there a way to fix the plant model if you dont have 3ds max or lime exporter ,Do you have video how to do it?
kkkkkk, passei um dia todo aprendendo isso, e agora dois dias depois encontro um video de 15 minutos em ensinou tudo oq gastei 12 horas pra aprender de forma pratica.
U r boss for lumion,
how to import animation wind plant to lumion ?
very helpful
Glad to hear that!
You are a legend sir.
Thanks! :)
Nice video Nuno! and the video for the realistic roads? (Tu Ă© BR ne? kkkk)
Hi Douglas, it takes more time, but I'll upload it soon! :) (NĂŁo, sou PortuguĂȘs. :) )
Nuno please please the road material tutorial for streets and sidewalks
This would be extremely helpful!!
Lol, it's cooking up! I promise I'll deliver it this year! đ
@@NunoSilva3d well... It took a few weeks for this tutorial of MS Vegetation haha... But we'll wait patiently đ€ Thanks for your work with us Nuno.
@@GerardoALpz it will be a longer tutorial and has to be more structured, that's why it's taking me longer to make it. :)
@@NunoSilva3d please!!! đ
Hey Nuno, Nice work! By the way, I saw you made the MS model in Lumion with a wind effect, like the default lumion plants. Is it a hard thing to do?
That one is actually from Lumion library, I mix it there to give it some motion. :)
@@NunoSilva3d its possible to animate in alembic or FBX version ? one time i see a guy make this ...
CanÂŽt do it in D5 Render, I need help
àžàžàžàžàžžàžàžĄàžČàž àč àžàž±àžàžàžàž
How I can do these without limo?help pls!
wouldn't adding the expression "_safemode" to the end of your fbx files solve the 2 sided texture problem? for people without 3dsmax / like exporter, give this a shot! it worked for me :)
@nuno: you added the gloss map to the normal map, but as I understand it, lumion is only able to use the alpha channel for either the opacity map or the gloss map?
Almost correct! The gloss map goes into the normal and opacity into the color. You can technically have 5 maps at once in lumion since the reflect/opacity/emiss doesnât share a spot with the gloss mask
@@LuminousLabs yes but you gotta make a decision which ones you want to use no? I can either opt for reflectivity, opacity or emissiveness in the options.
@@yatuex what do you mean by "_safemode" ?
Imagine that your file comes with inverted faces, you can rename "your-file.fbx" to "your-file_safemode.fbx" that Lumion fixes those inverted faces.
About the Gloss and Opacity, you need to use the Gloss on the Normal map and the Opacity Mask on the Albedo (Color).
@@NunoSilva3d oh i just realized it actually gets the reflectivity map from the normal targa file, even though i choose "color map alpha clips object" :D and here i thought i had to make a decision between either reflectivity or opactiy, my bad âïž
please make lumion wave animation video ( video material )
@Nuno Silva Please make lessons for beginners, about firs steps in lumion.
You mean by what each button does?
@@NunoSilva3d Hi Nuno I watch your videos its easy to understand lumion by your methods and tricks.. But some of us are not familiar with lumion..like me I am new one and doesn't know about lumion , please make some videos on user interface and basics of lumion..
Can you make a tutorial about interior design animation with lumion?
About selection of cameras and type of shots?
@@NunoSilva3d Like starting with a empty room and animate it into a furnished room, moving the camera around while putting the decor and furnish into place.
Is that possible? i have seen it here on youtube something similar but was an house construction progress animation instead.
I appreciate the response! thanks!
@@AlexandreMMadeira yes, that's possible. I keep in the future videos list. :)
@@NunoSilva3d thanks. That video will be very appreciated!
how do animation tree in Megascans ? pls
They don't have Trees.
Hi! how can you cooperate with LUMION companies like you? I know how to introduce testing new products like LUMION 11.
Sorry! i dont know english very well
Sorry! i dont know english very well
Hi! If you want to introduce me to one of your products, you can reach out to me by email hello@nunosilva.pt
@@NunoSilva3d Thanks! I can send you. I will explain to you the essence of the question, I am an architect, and I am pleased to work in the LUMION program. I live in Kazakhstan, and we do not have Russian-language content in the CIS, so I wanted to create this content myself in cooperation with LUMION companies.
What is wind ?
Sorry, what do you mean?
@@NunoSilva3d These are plants, not stones. There must be wind movement. By the way thanks for the video.
See. This is my frustration with Lumion. It took you about 15 minutes to teach everyone how to export that asset. Feasibility you can do it in 5-10 minutes which is reasonable. But the fact that you have to pull the asset into 3DS Max to then pull it into Lumion is ridiculous. If youâre already spending 3500 USD on a piece of software, you shouldnât need another $3000 piece of software to pull assets in.
You don't need to do this process I shown. You can import the FBX file directly into Lumion and then apply the textures there. I'm just showing how to speed up the process.
@@NunoSilva3d Maybe I missed it, in the video, but didn't you need to go through max to get backfaces visible? Or was there a step in Lumion that corrects that?
@@tedvitale8978 to make back face Visible you either need 3DSmax to convert it or save the file like "name_safemode" . Not to mention many time when people import directly , the model wont be at the middle of XYZ make placing or rotate them extreme annoying .Sometime if you import directly the model will also either too big or too small. So You definitely need a 3DS max to fully import the model or some addition software like speedtree ( this one has completely different way to import to lumion )
@@thelegendaryjanitor2008 exactly my point! @Nuno Silva this is why im always so frustrated with Lumion, it misses so many little things!
@@NunoSilva3d so it sounds like you do actually need 3DS Max to get the back faces to work? Which means you do need two very expensive pieces of software to do this correctly, unless thereâs a work around you can point too.
