- Review of the Masters of the Universe Origins Turtles of Grayskull Leonardo Figure that is part of the Wave one series of the Turtles of Grayskull line.
Since you said that you never collected turtles figures, thought I’d let you know that all 4 turtles are different shades of green going back to the original toys. Keep up the awesome reviews bro!
Thanks for watching and sharing that info bro! Yeah I kind of remember that a bit from some of those vintage Turtles my friends had. I'm a little familiar with those but never collected any of those figures for some reason. I thought the Origins would keep the colors the same for parts swapping maybe. But it makes sense to change the colors to stick to the vintage Turtles concepts and to keep things different. I like it! 👍
They should’ve given them sewer lids and pizza crust for shields and given the removable helmets instead of shells and ga e Donnie a micro phone and eye shop on his helmet and a techno shell with eternia tech.
Yeah all those accessories would be really cool but then it would probably make him a deluxe box figure to start and much more expensive! Maybe we see those other accessories with other figures to come in the Turtles of greyskull line! Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for stopping in already bro! I thinks it's an interesting design to use the Shell as a shield but I wish it had an easier way to attach it to the back without the armor if you wanted too. The swords look really cool. But I also wish they came as two full swords. He's still an awesome figure 👍
Yeah they could produce different colored shells for the four. Like a tech shell or a translucent powered up shell
Yeah its like pulling off a limb to use as a weapon, its wrong unless your a zombie of course :)

Great looking figure. Though I can't say I'm a fan of the removable shell. But the Final Fantasy VIII style sword looks awesome.
Might pre-order one from Whole Shebang after Christmas.
Thanks for stopping in to check this Review! Yeah I can see the dissapointment of the removable shell for Turtles fans. It dosent bother me that much personally. You can also use double stick tape to hold it on without the armor. I think it's a cool design for the Origins line. Those swords are awesome looking! Finally caught up on ToG Wave 1! Leonardo is definitely the best figure of this wave! He looks awesome and I’m really looking forward to grabbing these. I don’t even care at this point that I’m still almost two years behind on all of the mainline Origins (Wave 8 was the last full wave I picked up before finances got in the way); I need to get all of these asap! I’ve already mentioned how this line is a no-brainer for me because MotU was my jam and TMNT was my wife’s jam. Our son needs the best of both worlds!
Despite the way the katanas look when separated, it’s a genius concept to incorporate the MotU lore of combining the two swords to make one full sword! I also agree, the biggest design flaw is that the strap is too tight in the back to fit both. And yes, as someone else mentioned, each turtle had a different shade of green to further differentiate from each other and give them their own identities, so this tracks.
I’m also glad to see that the bandana is somewhat articulated and can spin around. I expressed concern that they might accidentally break off if we’re not careful, so it looks like Mattel did indeed think about that possibility.
Looking forward to the eventual review of Raph, that’s my boy…eh, turtle! 😛
Thanks for your continued views on these MOTU Origins TMNT figures from wave one. Leonardo is definitely my favorite, so far in this wave and as the main Turtle brother from the franchise.
I also grew up with the TMNT in the 90s as far as the movies, games, and cartoons. I had friends who collected the figures and accessories. But for some reason, I never collected a single Ninga Turtles figure all the way to this day, and i always loved the concept and characters. But now, with the Origins mixing this line. I'm all in!! I think it's awesome and can't wait for more. Yes, I also think this was a good move on Mattels' part. But other people are mixed in the comments. I understand both sides of concern or enthusiasm for this crossover. I never realized the turtles had different colors. But after looking at a couple of images online. Now I remember and can see the differences aside from the weapons and bandana colors. It sounds like this line is a win for Your wife, Son, and yourself from because of the common interests between the Origins and Turtles line.
I'm starting to review wave 2 now. I finished Shredder, and I'm gonna review Raph next. Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts as always 👌

I always thought it was wierd that Leonardo has two Katana's as weapons yet uses kicks, punches and throws to defend himself, the weapons are just props.

Yeah I think they wanted to make the Ninja Turtles stand out as Heroic Mutated Turtles with Human like asthetics and live in a sewer, but trained Fighters in the art of Ninjitsu that do use a combination of Weapons, Hand and leg Fighting as well as steath!
theory thing i read/saw somewhere. splinter gave:
the offensive, lethal weapon - the most selfless, caring
the defensive, short range - the hot head
the most difficult to control weapon - the scatter brain
the stick - the intellectual
don't think that's anything "official" but is sure seems to fit in my head canon. sort of weapons opposite their nature

Just ordered the other three turtles to go with my Raphel. I'd normally prefer the dual katanas, but the split swords looks kinda bad. But I guess having it as one sword does work alright for this version since it's He-man inspired.
@theotakux5959 Thanks for checking the review, and I'm glad to hear you just ordered the other three turtles! The sword is really cool looking, but I eventually I gave my figure two regular Kitana swords. I took one from Slamurai and picked up another loose one on eBay. There is also a stealth Leonardo variant coming out in the next wave with two regular swords.
@@Themanchlid Yeah, but this Leo with the He-Man inspired armor is cooler than the stealth ninja. And I'll take the single combined sword with the armor over the less interesting figure with better swords.
@theotakux5959 Yeah, I hear on that! I also like the design and armor on Leonardo better than the Stealth version coming out.
@Themanchlid I do like the Stealth Ninja He-Man, though. I don't love the torn boot, but I have a broken Flying Fists figure so I'll just swap the boots.

Do you mind helping me out? I have tried to look for Leo on every website but hes sold out. On ebay there are only about 3 Leo figures and the cheapest is $80 plus shipping. Do you have any reason why? Or know whats up with this particular figure in the line? Even the Target/Walmart exclusives arent this hard to find.
Hello, and thanks for checking out the review! Yeah, I also just checked a few other places to see if they had a Leonardo in stock or for a cheaper price. I didn't come up with anything. Entertainment Earth has Preorders still, but they are delayed. I checked the paulmart store, and he doesn't have any more of these Leonardo figures. There are a couple loose on Ebay for much cheaper but more expensive in package as you already looked. I think this figure was very popular and limited in production numbers. So I guess that's why he's out of stock in many places or expensive. There's a new Stealth Leonardo coming out now. So im guessing he is the focus. My advice is just to keep checking eBay for a cheaper one or the Google search and see if any more stock shows up at places like BBTS, Amazon, or Entertainment Earth.

Yeah they’re out. Released this month. Thing is, it’s a luck of the draw finding them in stores. I lucked up and found Leonardo, Donatello, and Mouse Jaw in Target this week. Man-At-Arms and Mutated He-Man I purchased on Amazon.

They do work upside down. I actually put one on like that by mistake. But I didn't film it or use it in the review. I think it looked out of place a bit.

Is there a certain order to read the comics?
Thanks for stopping in to check out the review! All four figures from wave one come with the same comic. This leo USA version was the first figure I got on wave one that had the story. But they should all be the same in all wave one comics. This Leo comic is the beginning of the Turtles crossover into the MOTU universe. Wave two figure will have different comics and continue the story.
Hmmm, Leonardo is definitely a maybe. He looks good as a crossover character. The line is still a pass though. 🤔😅😆
Thanks for checking the review out and sharing your comments as always! Leo was always my Turtle in the TNMT Franchise. I think he looks really cool and fits well in the Origins because of his design. These figures feel like they could have been part of the vintage line in the 80s.
@@Themanchlid Leo wasn't changed too much like Donatello. He has a strong TMNT and MOTU mixed well together in his design. Like MAA does. 🤔😊👍🏻
