    Danielle's jury speech in HvV has always hit me hard because it never feels particularly bitter. She, of every jury member, has the right to be bitter and to use her jury speech as a way of telling Russell exactly how he made her feel because the way he voted her out was horrible. How he speaks to her and treats her leads to her breaking down in tears in the tribal she's voted out at, and there was absolutely no strategic advantage to voting her out. Russell could have easily gone to final three with Parv and Danielle.
    But instead of being bitter and insulting him, she simply sums up that from what's happened so far, the jury clearly does not like him. She tells him that and that he isn't going to get any votes, and then she gives him a chance to apologise and to try and claw back any respect he can. She pretty much lays it out on a silver platter and he tosses it aside. And when he does, she simply says "okay, that's too bad." She was probably the nicest to Russell and he didn't deserve it.
    I've always held a lot of respect for Danielle for that. As much as I enjoy some of the more personal bitter jury speeches like Trish in Cagayan, I much prefer someone who recognises that it's a game and treats it as such. And the strength it takes to look past the fact that this man made you have an emotional breakdown and offer him a chance to apologise for _anything he did in the game_ is fucking admirable.

It also probably cost at least one or two players (Alex in particular) their chance of coming back and playing again.

    One thing that always gets me when people try to pull the whole "Bitter Jury" argument is that people in a season who will inevitably become Jurors don't begin "bitter". On Day 1, they don't go in thinking "I'm going to hate everybody and I'll NEVER vote for that guy with the hat over there who I've never spoken to". People do things to others that CAUSE them to become "bitter". To attempt to call a Juror or Jury "bitter" is to take responsibility away from the player who they didn't vote for to win.

    I have no issue with people being bitter. It's why this game is so interesting and a jury being bitter to you doesn't mean you've lost. Look at Mike in world's apart he blew up his game at the auction and had to win challenges/idol his way to end. For many players that would get a vote or two. Some would respect the player who despite all odds made it, or one of there allies would toss them a vote. Mike was able to win the jury back despite burying his game. I mean Dan might be one of the pettiest players ever, but Mike won him back.
    You just need to understand your jury. It can be hard but it's why I love Mike as a winner. He didn't just win challenges/play idols. He was able to repair the bounds he broke vs. one of the just meanest seasons of players. Which shows that even when it seems like people would just vote against you for spite like Boston Rob in All-Stars you just need to play the jury to get there vote. Whether it's genuine or not.

      I've equated fans thinking some strategic mastermind or dominant player got robbed to a team who throws more hits in hockey, but gets outscored and loses. Hitting has its strategic value, and a team that outhits the other often sets themselves up nicely to win. It also looks really impressive to spectators and like they're "dominating" the game. But if you get outscored, you indisputably lost. The point of Survivor is to sway subjective, human voters to vote for you. If you don't, then you lost, no matter how dominant you looked in the dozen hours out of 39 days that viewers saw.

    I will not stand for this Cambodia slander. One of the few survivor seasons I can watch after the fact and still enjoy.

    Russell's first loss was pure bitterness. His 2nd loss was because both women in the final 3 played better than him and had more pre-game relationships. So, he only lost due to a bitter jury once. Parvati was punished more by a bitter jury than Russel who didnt even deserve one vote.

    Some jury members are impossible due to their bloated egos, as well as hypocrisy. The latter was especially notable in HvV. Candice betrayed her tribe on both her seasons, and Rupert stole everything from the other tribe on PI, and Jerri accused Kel for smuggling beef jerky, yet they whine about someone else being a villain????? Give me a break

    • @Rodanguirus
      @Rodanguirus Před rokem +1

      Not excusing him, but I think Rupert's just a guy who wholeheartedly and earnestly embraced the "theme" of the season. In PI, he was a pirate. In HvV, he was "heroic" and called out the dastardly villains.

    • @Ori_Kohav
      @Ori_Kohav Před rokem +2

      @@Rodanguirus maybe, but it makes him look more hypocritical than heroic, especially after he went against Tom. He also sounded very pathetic in that banana rant.

      Candice betrayed her HVV tribe for a good reason, they were so mean to her for literally 0 reason

    • @Ori_Kohav
      @Ori_Kohav Před rokem

      @@slimbish605 how so? Sounds more like an excuse to her dumb decision, and it was not the first time she makes a dumb decision. We also know she tends to run excuses and/or play the victim, as she did multiple times throughout her time on the show.

    Want to appreciate the actual decent members of the Fiji jury: Michelle and Yau-Man. I also think Rocky was mostly fine, I just don't like how much he harped on Anthony pre-merge for being so passive and not being a "real" man by being aggressive
