Ralfi's Alley - The Nuclear Option

- My buddies and I decide to take on the SAMs on GAW, but we chose to do it in style with the nuclear option of an RN-24 on a Mig-21.
I had a ton of fun making the editing on this video and I think it turned out great. Hope ya'll like it.

Wish they'd put in proper animation for nuclear explosions. It just feels wrong to kill with a nuke and not have any flash or mushroom cloud.
this game demands a lot as it is if you add that animation most peoples games would crash

@@PervonHarke Something is visible. There is a small explosion and a texture overlay. Want better graphics? Wait until 2040.
This is not a nuke - it's a massive texture that drops down and buries everything beneath :)
@@Tha1mikemike If I drop a nuke I don't see a nuke explosion and the decal is either only partially existing or not at all.

DCS definitely needs the AIR-2 Genie. 50's tech, best tech, before everyone started getting worried about _silly_ things like radiation, fallout and nuclear winter.
For that, we'd need the F-102 or F-106. Not bad, honestly, but those aircraft didn't have much in the way of armament.

F-104s and F-89s were also capable of firing the Genie. The Scorpion is the only aircraft to ever fire a live Genie.

Right before that first nuke I was waiting for the explosion and with all my anticipation I was greated with an add that zoomed out to be a KFC burger all in complete silence. Common memes associated with this moment would have been the wtf dude and the turntable rip noise

while the Rn-24 is a Memeworthy thing, the Rn-28 is sometimes a viable option against airfields
I ran a rough simulation. The blast radius of a 20kt bomb (The RN-24) is around 44 kilometers. Which explains why it killed friendlies at 20,000 feet.

When Grieg started playing at 14:40, I had sudden reminiscence of some very fierce fights in Frontier: Elite II I could have solved much quicker with a nuke as well :D
9:00 Next time you guys see clusters of enemy air like that, you should try employing the RN-24 as an air to air weapon :D Also, I think the RN-28 is the smaller one IIRC? Been like 5 years since I played around with it to be honest, but you might have less TK issues with it over the 24.

What settings do you run on for anything dcs to give nice fps?

Turn off MSAA, set shadows and terrain object shadows to flat only
