Congressman walks out of House hearing after apologising to arrested Parkland father

- Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost walked out of a House hearing on Thursday (23 March) after apologising to a Parkland parent who was arrested for protesting gun violence.
Manuel Oliver, who lost his son in the 2018 school shooting, was pinned to the floor by police outside the room after disrupting the meeting.
"This has nothing to do with policy and everything to do with politics. And I won’t be listening to another second of it," Mr Frost, a Florida Democrat, said after the incident.
He then walked out of the committee room.

Apologizing is the hardest thing for some reason for many. Thank you for saying sorry as a congressman. That is the most mature things that anyone can do or should do and as a parent that is the most important lesson you can teach because everyone refuse to say sorry when they know that they did something wrong but to accuse someone else. Mr Frost has an excellent command of facts and displays an overabundance of empathy. Something that the republicans repudiate at every turn. I am sorry to those parents for the lack of leadership that has all too well defined the republican party.

If you disrupt congressional hearings by law you can be removed from the gallery and if you resist you can be arrested, that's a fact regardless who you are. Does our heart go out to the families of those in ANY shooting, the answer of course is yes. A 10yo girl killed in a drive thru lane sitting next to her father, that's just as tragic as any school shooting, venue shooting, hell any shooting at all. But if your going to give out facts be sure you give them ALL out. As of March 13, 2023 the leading cause of death for young people (ages 12-19) is unintentional injuries at 30% followed by suicide at 28%, then it is firearms related deaths at 26%. Of all the yearly gun related deaths 57% are by suicide (24,748), 40% are by homicide (17,179) shootings by police 1% (552) unintentional gun deaths 1% (507) and undetermined gun deaths 1% (389). These are the FBI statistics and findings. So don't go saying one thing when it is another. How about you as a congressman tell the rest on both sides of the aisle to FREAKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH!!! That is the absolute leading cause of every mass shooting ever! Between the lack of mental health services, oversights, treatment, and the induction of big pharma and their "medicate and isolate" measures then sadly this will happen again and again. Let's start blaming the real culprits in this and that are the people committing these horrible and evil acts. Sadly this guy is like far too many in Congress on both sides of the aisle and he is just merely a puppet and talking lose and out the side of his neck. @jetpowercom Your wrong it is actually accidental injury that is the leading cause of death for person under the age of twenty. And those deaths due to a firearm the leading cause for that is suicide not homicide. Don't believe me then look up the current FBI crimes statistics for your self. And guns/firearms cannot do a thing to harm anyone, it takes the person handling the gun/firearm to cause that harm and or death. I don't give a flying F what they do in Switzerland as that is there and this is the USA. Why don't you require your same recommendations to all those who are under 19yr and attempting to purchase a car, laptop or cell phone which cause more distracted driving deaths each year and those deaths far surpass those of gun violence. You know why? Cause your have a right to the pursuit of happiness under the Constitution just like we all have the right to keep and bear arms unless other justified.
