The times I thought Charlotte Mason's methods weren't working for me, it was because I wasn't doing it right, either out of ignorance or out of arrogance.
That's why educating yourself on her methods is so important to make it work.
BTW my own education growing up lacked a lot as well, but anyone can learn CM because it is a method of self education

Hi. If that was a response to me. Thank you. I understand all that. I studied really hard on everything CM. I was a full 100 cmer and then it got to the point where i realized my children weren't excelling like they used to with a more traditional curriculum. I still love CM just realized it's not for me to use 100%.
We went back to what we used before and now they are thriving again.

I totally agree. This is Why it didn't work for me. I realized I needed to be so much more then what I am willing to give to each child because it would mean that I would need to know much more. I wasn't raised with a good education at all. I was one of the child that were left behind. Im just not that mom. I want a curriculum that gives me what I don't have.

I got left behind too. Do you still use CM?

@@lisachristinaconfirmed5067 for enrichment. I use SCM for composer study, Artist, music, Shakespere etc. I want to expose my children to the Arts and SCM does a great job at providing the mom with resources for those things.

My son goes to school but I teach him at home too. I want suggestions after school hours. I know it's all about homeschool but I need extra information about extra time .

@@SimplyCharlotteMason I have read it again and again to make sure I won't make any mistakes.
After school, music and world map can be implemented in our daily life without any problem.
      Thanks for replying.

Is there a book I can read to learn all the reasoning and methods of each learning category?

Hi Krista! Our free resource, Subject by Subject, provides a brief look at each subject, how to teach it, and when. You will find short bits about the "why" from time to time: simplycharlottemason.com/store/subject-by-subject/

From there, our Learning Library is full of resources to help better understand Charlotte's method as are Charlotte's Original Homeschooling Series, A Charlotte Mason Companion by Karen Andreola, and A Charlotte Mason Education by Catherine Levison (more of a how-to than a "why"): simplycharlottemason.com/learning-library/
