Dennis Van haarlem no Bea Arthur was awful to Betty White she used to leave old food for her on the table, she ignored her constantly, she used her trailer bathroom and didn't flush and called her mean names to her face and called her a cunt constantly behind her back
Dorothy squeezes Blanche's hand. Blanche goes down to the ground... and there's Dorothy just drinking her drink as calmly as anything. These actresses were amazing. Not a flinch.
It’s especially brilliant because Bea Arthur’s career was off to a rough start initially because she was considered - in todays terms - to be too masculine. So they either intentionally or unintentionally worked some of that into her character, obviously they already did so with Dorothy’s overall personality. The actual Bea Arthur, according to just about anyone in the vicinity was a very timid, reserved person, whereas the roles she played were these tough no-bullshit women. It’s quite interesting, actually.
Thanks for the laughs Bea Arthur. One of my favorite scenes was Blanche "trying" to decide to go out with a young guy and she says to Dorothy, "Dirk is almost 5 years younger." ... and Dorothy gives her "that look" and says, " ... in what Blanche, dog years." I've seen that scene many times and I still laugh out loud.
Priestess Auset Ra Amen hey I’m kris I’m a mentally disabled adult young lady who is a very big fan of the golden girls Dorothy is favorite character too she’s loud and sassy and doesn’t take crap from anyone
03:32-04:08 is one of my favorites. Dorothy: keep your bloomers on Scarlett I saw him first. Blanche: but he wants me I can feel it. Dorothy: let somebody else feel it. LMAO . Blanche was very good in that scene as well
I loved every character in their own special way Blanche was the sexy southern Bell , Dorthy was the sarcastic smart ass, Rose was the dim witt but had a kind heart & of course Sophia the wise cracking story teller
My favorite Dorothy scene is when she was getting aggravated when trying to explain to Rose what Spanish fly is. Rose: "How do they know it's Spanish?" Dorothy: "Because it wears a little sombrero!"
I think you should have included the time when she and Blanche wore the same dress, and Blanche asked since when does she care how she looks. Then Dorothy said she thinks it started when she climbed down from the bell tower and had her hump fixed. Lol. Hilarious. :) this is a good video though. Dorothy is my favorite. :)
Michelle Baldwin yeah she uses the hump comment a few times in different episodes and I always got a great laugh. . She was so convincing one could actually imagine her with a hump. Lol
@Michelle Baldwin I like the exchange after that even more Blanche: This dress looks sensational on me; people expect to see me in a sensational dress! Dorothy: And what do they expect to see me in, a yarmulke and a Hefty Bag? The writers of this show are just genius
One of my favorite scenes is when Blanche's niece came to visit and Dorothy said "We enjoyed having you!" and Sophia said " So did half of Miami." I have loved this show since it came on the air back in 1985, when I was 11 years old.
"Rose, pick that up." *throws something for her to pick up* I should do that if someone is bothering me. Just throw something and ask them to pick it up
Kira Davis yeah... but it was always a toss up between Dorothy and Sophia. I liked them all but Dorothy and Sophia were so gangster. To be Jewish and play the Italian characters so well...
lauren ralph she got it from her gangster mother Sophia. Loved when they accidentally ordered a 400$ bottle of wine when Dorothy found out what her illness was that was making her so lethargic and Sophia puts salt in the wine and yells out “swill” and the rest is history... they ended up getting their whole meal paid for!
@@CeliniacForLife it was a two-parter, I don't remember the name, but Dorothy has a mystery illness with symptoms but the tests all come back negative. Her doctors openly doubt her as she struggles to find an answer. Eventually she is diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as myalgic encephalomyleitis). The final scene of the second part is the girls celebrating in a fancy restaurant where they accidentally buy the wine. Dorothy also gets in a great monologue against one of her doctors she sees there and it's awesome.

Sheila Burns yes yes! Hands down that was one of the best one liners in the whole seven years of the show... in dog years... that was gangster.

Dorothy: Not now ma!"
Funny in a very grouchy way.
I never understood why Stan felt the need to introduce himself. As if no one knew him. Lol
