This is still one of my all time favorite songs. Brings back memories of good times with my fiends around 1988. 💖
The song was written with a touch of irony. At the time the song came out his life was anything, but wonderful. He went through a nasty divorce with his wife. The record label he had been working for suddenly dropped him. His mother was diagnosed with a terrible illness and he himself was involved in a few car accidents. He was also living in his car and barely had enough to survive. But it was the success of this and his other song "Sweetest smile" which allowed him to gain ground again.
"A wonderful life isn't about a life without any hardships, but rather knowing how to handle, persevere and overcome them."
When I got hypothermia in 1999 and saved me from death, the doctor and all the staff laughed because this was the song I sang all the time. Despite being convalescent, I had an accident and fell into a frozen lake, my heart sank. stopped but came back here, i can guarantee i saw the other side but came back here somehow, this song is everything to me, greetings from a survivor

It spoke to me of the loneliness and absence of joy despite all conditions around being conducive to excitement , thrill, colour and, sensations that exhilarate. When your thoughts however are trapped within and have no outlet. No one to share the experience of joy or sorrow with and yet The Sun caresses you, the breeze refreshes you. It's the wonder of the juxtaposition of both experiences in one person .

Hello CMA (Rich) lovely to see you. First I hope all is ok your side and things are improving. I always send up blessings up for you when you run through my mind. Normally when I'm in my garden feeding my wildlife family -and there are a lot. I feed them every day and night. Anyhow, yes it's such a beautiful track. As for Loulou she was on my bed watching Netflix and You Tube the other day. It was so funny, I love to watch my favourite ASMR channel and Loulou loves the sounds. @@psycheinc-theSLC Thank you Psyche, for sending thoughts my way. Some days are challenging but I am a survivor through the years so can adapt to circumstances. Sounds like you have quite the family there with all your wild life. We have 2 Dachshunds, Bogart & Jasper. Bogart became paralysed with IVDD 6 years ago and didn't recover after surgery. However, he can still get around though he is now 13 years old. We have 2 budgies called Sir Roger Penrose and Sir William Herschel and around 14 Lovebirds in an aviary. Then there are the fish in a pond complete with waterfall. The local birds all like to stop by and swim and drink from it. A couple of Doves come by every day to be fed. It all keeps life interesting Psyche. Anyway, have a great week and stay safe, much love, Rich

I've been following him since the beginning of his career, his entire career! And then comes the sad news of his accident and then his departure!💔 I was in bed for days inconsolable... To this day I still can't according... 😔
Really love this song the sound of steel pan...., has a melancholy feel to it too. He passed away from an accident few years ago, RIP Colin Vearncombe

I must have been 18 or so...this song encapsulated my live and feelings so well... I wanted to sing it to my dad....but he wasn't really interested in me... growing up on the autism scale and being an introvert never helped me , nor does it help me today. (in my days there was no such thing as autism or ADHD) .. I still understand this song..when nobody understands me
