It's so funny seeing the contrast between those who are practicing their beliefs and the people who are there to get shit faced.
Oh but it's double asfunny, seeing the people who sat they are practicing their beliefs hanging out with people who get shitfaced and try to get other people high in order to sexually molest those people. How do I know that, oh London is a tiny place and some people from those places where people like to get shitfaced, were in this video, frolicking about with their posters, about not wanting to pay money

Yes we’d go in the early 80s when there was a mixture of “ the underground “ along with the Druids whom did their bit at sunrise along with the Buddhists c/w their portable Temple to Noddy..Ok there’d be a few curious day trippers whom looked ‘ straight off the high street ‘ but Wizards & Freaks were the patrons of the place. Fast forward to 2007 and the moment a sign reading “ No Drug Use “ etc then ( about three hours after sunrise ) a “ Chav “ - or Football Lad , immaculate Adidas from head to foot , clutching a pack of B & H in one hand and a bottle of Smirnoff , was helped by his mates atop the ‘ lodestone ‘ ( the horizontal or crossbar stone ) triumphantly yelling “ having iiiiitttt “ , I knew ‘ the tone ‘ of the place had been irretrievably diluted. ( I’m joking ) He was almost instantly dragged off by the Official Security which hadn’t been about in my day but those guys , like many more appeared to on their way home from Bournemouth Nightclubs ! We went last year and apart from the huge parking operation , smiling coppers chatting to themselves , hundreds of friendly security guards and the bag searches plus pat-down checks -And that nearly everyone there was below 35 years of age and not speaking English , nothing had changed ....🙄🏴😇❤️from Wilverley Enclosure Witches

"you know what, fuck those guys" LOL. agree it's honestly so disrespectful to come to a religiously significant event for a party, like they could rave anywhere else. i found the tolerance for them surprising.
enjoyed this piece though, can always appreciate an open minded peep into another culture.
caramel coffee jus wanted to say raving is a form of prayer if you take the time to think about it, the woman at the healing rock said the balance is almost necessary.
Its disrepectful to NOT let them party if they want to party. You never heard of a bacchanal? Probably not, because anglo-saxon christians purged the druidic tradition from their culture.
Its like going to a mosque and saying its dumb that they bow.
Druids didn't have Bacchanals. That was Roman. Anglo-Saxons didn't have Druidic traditions. They were Germanic pagans. Its very respectful of you to conflate three different cultures/religions as if they were identical.
It's not on you to judge how religious events are to be celebrated.
caramel coffee yes I also was amazed at the tolerance. I'm an old raver from late 80's through the 90's ... there's a time & a place for it.
But when you're that young you think you're giving joy & enlightening people to the power of the beat .. problem is that they're trying to enlighten older folk who have been through all that shit & just want to celebrate the elements & what ever they hold scared.
In a way it's how it SHOULD be .. tolerance that is. I'm sure the last 20 years the spiritual goers have had to change their perspective on the young & possibly naïve (in the most flattering way) wanting to be part of the solstice. In rave tradition solstices are HUGE raves that can be really amazing. But it long takes 1 carton of bad eggs to spoil the night/s :))
I just hope everyone cleaned up after themselves.

It was never a serious religion to begin with. Started by hippies as an excuse to get high.

@@klimtdidit8482 I was there my dear, I saw what happened and why, and yes, it was just an excuse to do drugs. If your talking about ancient world paganism, there were about a million different varieties.
I feel that the reporter kept pushing a conflictive narrative between the two styles of attendees which was not there. Everyone was there to celebrate, the how is up to the individual.-peace
That was a party, not worship. Big difference. You did say the right word 'celebrate' which for some means getting fucked up and throwing off chaotic energy and screwing up the vibe for the people who actually want to respectfully and peacefully get in tune with the ancient energy. No witch worth her salts could feel the stones there. Only the damn stoners.
Alfredo Vasquez I agree. I feel like she was trying to paint a picture of negativity but like no 😂
Not fond of the interviewer. She was a bit rude and her voice wasn't exactly.. pleasant.

This is so disgusting. Why do they even think that they need to party at that place? Just go into a fucking club and respect pagan culture und nature
They all co allighn it’s all the same the rock music yes the nature spirit etc are all teachings of witchraft and the occult witch are pagan worships to deities it’s all everywhere all thru time thru different deities that people worshipped it’s all the same branches of the same tree r
Apart of the celebration is literally partying they all welcomed the sun there wasn’t disrespect at all
Why are so many of vice's interviewers such air heads? i mean, I can sometimes forgive unprofessional journalist types if they''re at least charismatic, respectful, and curious. But it seems many of vice's people are just.. nothing. no research, no intelligent questions, no passion, no charisma. Why even have them? Just shoot some video and let the people speak for themselves.

Obviously I wasn't there, but from this it seemed like the partiers and the more spiritual people didn't clash at all and were two halves to a whole. Paganism has always involved partying during solstice things. I don't see why the reporter felt so negatively about it.
In Germany we have this festival of witches and its kind of like a mixture too
As an actual pagan, let me answer your question, it is probably because that pagan partying of antiquity involved a certain amount of religious ceremony to it. Like yeah you might get drunk off your butt on mead, or throw some herbs in a bonfire, but at the end of the day your still worshiping the old gods and the earth and there is a certain amount of reverence in it. Most of those partiers in 2016 just wanted to do drugs and don't care at all about the religious and cultural significance of the site and the day. Hope that helps
@@user-wh1st3hq9u Totally different up to 1984. Before that it meant something it wasn't full of middle class "druids" but real pagans and outcasts like the Angels and those of us who wanted an alternative society. It's a farce now.

I got so many chills watching the Druids. I think I’ve found my calling

As a pagan, all I can say is that those teenagers (and the interviewer) were very rude
It seems that all those new age hippies are just there to party and feel important and they don't understand what those stones and the festival represents. I was considering going here for Imbolc but now i think I'll just visit other places of worship instead. The way they dishonour our beliefs is disgraceful
Elder Kenji yeah, totally agree. It's like they think we're just hippies and we don't have a religion.
@D3ad M3mori3s: Stonehenge has got nothing to do with religion you silly goose. And @Elder Kenji; why don't you tell us what those stones and that festival really represent then, because I'm dying to hear this. What makes you even think that Stonehenge was ever supposed to be a place of worship? It's just a bunch of rocks in the middle of nowhere. You can be certain of one thing though, partying and feeling important was . . . a really important factor in why someone took the trouble and time to drag those fucking great rocks up there in the first place.
Cali Braxus it is theorized to be a burial ground where ceremonies and rituals were performed. So, yeah it is a religious site. Why tf would people put those rocks there if there wasn’t a purpose.
TurquoiseCrow yeah for the rituals of an almost extinct people from 6 millennia ago
@ Stonehenge seems more like a place where burial rituals took place and other rites, the thing is no one really knows what it was for as it's over 5000 years old,and those that built it were from a time when nothing was written down. We do know the Druids had nothing to do with it though, but it was also a lot bigger than what it is now.
I'm a Druid and this is so far away from what I follow and you won't see me there as I will be on the Moors above my hometown performing my own ritual with my friends that I have written and not this "ritual by numbers" stuff
"I wanted to know what would happen if you mixed a large group of drunk people and actual wizards" Literally the reason why I went to my Pagan friend 's new year's party

Great idea i going too
Shame she couldn't of gotten some decent documentation of pagan views from the mouths of the people themselves. Though I'm not suggesting she didn't try. That man had a lot of costume but very little presence or motivation to elaborate on any ideas. I felt the whole reason he was so prominent in this was from an awkward assumption. one which if the way he is perceived in this video is anything to go by - was probably wrong to make
I agree and talking to someone who didn't proclaim themselves to be Arthur or Merlin would have been a great start... Some Druids exist because they do believe in the power and connection and stewardship to and of nature.

Please go to Jesus god is the only god. He took me to hell and told me being gay and trans isn’t a sin. He’s coming soon so please go to him.
It was surprising to see the more chill attendees and their opinions about the party goers. They weren’t hateful or anything and I love that about this group.
I love how the actual Druids were completely cool with the party people as they represent the masculine. Also, the party people are important, they represent a separate part of life and Wicca and Witchcraft are about balance and all the different aspects of life. I didn't find it disrespectful as partying is a great way of celebrating and showing deep appreciation for life.

I used to be a site manager at Stonehenge. They spent £1million on a new exhibition centre then doubled the entrance price. It's a cash cow that exploits foreign tourists. For example you pay to park but can get it refunded if you pay to see the Stones. Try explaining that to someone who doesn't speak English. The tour guides rip the place off every day passing old tickets sandwiched between two paid for tickets. It's a money machine for English Heritage, but it was donated to them by the landowner for free on the proviso it was free access for the public...yeah, nice hypocrisy.
I'm pretty sure the guy that's the leader of the protest, was the same guy that knighted Ozzy and Jack on that travel reality show.
Why are journalists like this?? You've been obsessed with paganism your whole life, but the first word you use is "wizard" and then spend the entire rest of the video fucking laughing at all the people there? What a joke. I hate how Buzzfeed and Vice or WHATEVER just laughs through the whole experience. So disrespectful. No one would ever act this way at a church.
This is equally cringe-worthy and awful. The last time the monument was used for what it was actually intended for was in the Bronze Age! And all memory and meaning of it has been lost to time. The people who constructed and used this monument I'm sure would undoubtable be appalled by what's happened to it. If you want to actually learn about stonehenge, look up the work of Professor Parker Pearson, who has studied and excavated there for years and is one of the few people who could give you any idea what Stonehenge is actually about.
