STROUD BUSES IN THE 1970s

ANOTHER OF MY FAVOURITE BUS LOCATIONS WAS STROUD. THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN AT STROUD BUS STATION (MERRYWALKS) AND AT THE OLD BRISTOL OMNIBUS BUS DEPOT AT LONDON ROAD IN 1973 AND 1975. THE DEPOT WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT BY WESTERN NATIONAL.

I used to be a pupil at Cotswold-Chine Home-School in Box, near Minchinhampton - often got the 430 or 431 to and from Stroud on Saturdays!

Identical green buses and models that were in operation in my area Lincolnshire at that time.

Those buses belonged to the Lincolnshire Road Car Company. They were a former Tilling Group company like the Bristol Omnibus Company and had similar vehicles. Regards Dave.

Hello Peter. The 300s were Bristol SUL4As designed to run where roads were extremely narrow. Stroud always had two. Regards Dave.

Worked at Mawdsley's Dursley then, lived in Coaly shopped in Stroud. A different town
