Joyce Christians we have set fast period, Lent 40 days of fasting before Easter Sunday. But it’s not fast like Ramadan. Most of us fast in the new year.

Jesus says not to tell people when you are fasting because you will have no spiritual reward as your reward is the admiration of the people you are telling. That’s generally why there are no obligatory organised fasts in Christianity. “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:17-18 NKJV. If you read from the beginning of Matthew 6 you will see the full context which includes giving charitable donations in secret rather than shouting from the rooftops for the admiration from men
