- Episode 61 - The Trails & Tales Outdoor Radio Deer Poll celebrated it's 25th event and what would’ve been the 70th birthday of its founder, Tim Kobasic. Brian Whitens (906 Outdoors) has some wonderful old footage of Tim's interviews from the past decade to share.
I checked out the 3rd annual BuckFest in Crystal Falls that night.
And an old army tent hosts hunters and visitors in Sidnaw for comradery, stories and drinks, in honor of the tent's original hunter, Jerry.

Can’t believe it. I think I met Jerry yrs ago? I tell this story all the time. We got gas in our sleds in Sidnaw, we rode Ski Doo. He says “I don’t like dem Ska dooos, those Arty Cats and Poo laris use way more gas”. A couple guys in our group were from Minnesota and asked him if there was a wolf season in Michigan, he says “All year long” and laughed.

Been tent camping in Kenton for over 30 years, not many of us left. Great Tent.
My grandpa from negaunee had a camp in Kenton, all I remember was the ticks and being able to see through the logs to the outside

Spooky quiet in da woods this year. Very poor season this year. Tradition will end soon with no deer.
Yea I hiked a couple days without seeing a deer. Was fortunate to have one buck come to my bait pile yesterday though.
Well…. That’s good. Few and far between this year. Congrats.
Not a real picture of hunting in da U.P…. Delta, Dickinson, Menominee… if you’re a land barren; have some deer.
MQT, Alger or any of the northern county’s, eastern or west end…. Pathetic deer hunting. Why the youth are quitting in droves. No interest in watching a bait pile sit on the ground.
Or cover miles without seeing a track.
Our deer herd has been destroyed by poor management practices by the MDNR. That’s the real story in da U.P. Camps.
This is the story… At every camp I know. Zero shots heard…. Not just the U.P. Anymore either…. Be nice if someone in the media did their job…Here.
