So the reason is many of these songs were originally sang on (British) Royal Navy ships. Sailors would've come or been to many ports around the region and their origins influenced the music.
Irish person here - sea shanties have simple tunes which is also characteristic of a lot of traditional Irish music. However to me the language doesn't sound like hiberno English. I wonder if the pronunciation of the R is what does it - it doesn't have the RP R people think of when they think of English accents. That type of r used not to be in English at all but was adopted by the upper classes (who were trying to sound French). So the clear pronunciation of the r (rhotic r) was probably used by most sailors who wouldn't have been upper class.

@@Bleideris0 Unfortunately, the time limitations on TikTok videos do not allow fro the "full version" of pretty much ANY song to be posted. Most Sea Shanties are from 3-4 minutes long, and that's about twice the allowed time for a TikTok post...
