Thank you! I have watched some of these videos with my 12 year old son. And the other night, he asked me, as I was taking him to bed, "Play that video, the video of the lady talking about philosophy"
these videos are exceptional ! Professor Thelma Z. Lavine was just so good at conceptualising and breaking down complex issues for the layman to understand. respect for this legend
Great video, as an author having these beautifully explained philosophical histories is always wonderful as it is not only interesting but helps my own writing!
ill watch this video later. but can i just say thank you Philsophy Overdose i really do appreciate your channel and these vidoes you put up for others to be exposed to. So, thank you!
I’m obsessed w this lady
She’s great! I watched these videos on PBS years ago and I thought something had to be wrong with me (since I couldn’t discuss them with anyone around me). Now, thanks to CZcams, I realize I was not the only “weird” individual out there.
She’s like a bright star in a very, very dark sky.
She’s great!
The Julia Child of philosophy 🌞
So goöd to see this again ; it’s been a while since I watched this on public television as a young teenager. Rocked my world then and now . Thank you!!
Yes please- it would great to see part 2 if possible. :-)
Thanks to your marvelous channel, I bought Dr. Lavine's book some weeks ago, and am reading the chapter on Sartre right now. Each chapter concludes with a list of recommendations for further reading, which I will check out as well. 🙂
i love these From Socrates to Sartre videos
The Julia Childs of Existentialism.
Absolutely. Well said.
I had the same feeling ❤
Great women who, with style and mesmerising command of English, made the complexity the mastered accessible to bigger audiences.
Unparalleled.
Gold 🙏🏼
Thank you for enriching time dear Philosophy Overdose
Right on time
I hope I'm not nagging, but I'm
always grateful for every video in this series you upload while always hoping for more.

From Socrates to Sartre and from DaVinci to Jackson Pollock
Thank you for posting these! If you'd like to check it out, I discuss these concepts extensively in my book: What is Existentialism?
any video you have about ibn senna?
1:13 "A jackal with a typewriter and a hyena with a fountain pen". Lol
Which makes it all the more appealing to read
Add subtitle please
I agree
"We are not determined by the values we hold" >>> Falser words have never been spoken.
Please expound.
We can't look to nature is a bit hand-wavy, we just don't know is more accurate. As someone who studies the history of evolutionary thought I wouldn't have killed myself to see him speak.
I just want to know HHHWYE does she pronounce the H 😂
Was it correct to do that in her time? Cant be that long ago since it is a color video

Post-modernism in a nutshell. There's no principles but here are some principles. You're free to make any choice but don't chose this and that.
