How to Reset, and Unlock a Spektrum AR631 Receiver in 2023
1. first off you need the Spektrum SPMA3065-TX/RX USB Programming Cable

2. Then you need to head over to www.spektrumrc...
and make sure you have an account.
3. then head over to the USB programmer page www.spektrumrc...
4. click on the PC programmer button spektrumrc.cac...
5. download the latest version Version 3.6 (Released July 14, 2021)
This update allows owners of Bind-n-Fly and Ready to Fly models equipped with an AR631 to be able to unlock their receivers.
- Allows users to factory reset the receiver, permitting the Spektrum Receiver to program via Forward Programming like an open stock AR637T
- Allows users to preserve the preset settings of the AR631 or other, with the addition of tuning AS3X gains and some flight mode settings
- Adds a Frame Rate menu allowing users to customize Servo frame rate output settings
Some important notes
- We strongly suggest backing up the receiver via the forward programming menu before making any changes
- If you factory reset an AR631, the model presets and suggested settings used for the preset code on the AR637TA will no longer function as before with the preset settings on the AR631,
- ALWAYS CONFIRM CORRECT CONTROLS AND STABILIZATION CORRECTIONS BEFORE USE
Due to the complex nature of the software and the nearly endless combination of setups that are possible, the first public exposure of a new version to thousands of consumers is the most likely time to uncover any undetected issues. As always, the user should ensure that all programming behaves as intended in the model.

Over the weekend I was trying to help a friend by resetting his receiver. Three or four tries and loading the latest 'basic' software, I still could not get to the 'first time setup' prompt. Gyro settings were all that I saw. I did message Spektrum but have not received an answer on what I might be doing wrong.

First off great video! This is going to be very helpful. Just be careful putting your wrist by the prop when plugging it in. I had a motor start right after plugging it in once. Luckily I didn't get bit.
before you reset , first write down the as3x and save giro settings from the bnf programming on the tx, you can reprogram in your reset receiver
You can also unlock the rx without having to reset the model thats on it , Then you can go into forward programming on transmitter and make adjustments for Safe and As3x setting

didn't work for my AR6610T. First window that pops up says the receiver has already been registered by someone else. I purchased it through Amazon a couple weeks ago. It also does not bring up forward programming in my DX6e even though they are bound and throttle and servos work.
Hi Robert can you tell me is it possible to use the safe on a dx6i transmitter or do you need a transmitter with forward programming. Many thanks Darren

Hi friend! Thank you so much for your videos! I have a question not related to programming. When I plug in my Eflight V900 which has a Ar631, The AR does not beep, but it does bind to the plane, however the motor does not run. Do you have any tips or advice? I am using a Jumper T Lite transmitter... I followed the directions to turn down the throttle and lower the trim to 0.

8:24 can we reset the receiver using the transmitter. So are we using the cable.
Why is it that You have to use forward programming, what if your radio is the old version DX and you want to use it as NEw RX
Is this required to put the ailerons on 2 separate channels with safe working on both? Or can you just change the aircraft type to 2 ailerons and safe will work too?

Why not just do it, takes 10min, then try safe in your hands see if both ailerons move when inverted,it should try to self level, simple

I’m getting ailerons on safe with 2 servos, but can’t get them to work out of safe, as3x only…
Resetting receiver & removing the model on it its not the way to go, how do you unlock channel 6 to have safe mode with a pc and a cable?
I bought a E-Flight Night Radion last week. Been out of RC for decades. I learned a Vario is available and it blew my mind!!! Then, I learned the transmitter I bought was a DX6e. ( I figured rudder, elevator and throttle). While the AR631 sends telemetry data it shows up as text, no audio. ....great way to lose your plane me thinks. So, I bought a used DX8 Gen 2. And I bought an AR637T DSMX 6-Channel AS3X...thinking the stock receiver coming with the Radion doesn't send out Vario data. I'm not sure I heard you right ....but I can send back the $115 receiver and buy a cord and get a Vario sound with stockAE631 coming in my glider? What would you do?
Telemetry is great and stuff but if you just set a timer and land and check voltage ⚡️ you learn real fast battery 🔋 life, you also don't need to unlock the receiver if your flying the plane stock, having audio alerts is cool so updating the radio is a good idea but I would not change anything else

The Vario sound is a higher faster pitch or beeping tone the faster lift takes you up. Conversely, when descending, its more of a sadder power pitch morose tone.
Great for glider pilots.
Ok, it's true that the Receiver WILL UNLOCK WITH THE "TX" (Forwarding Program) doing what we can see on this video, but.... WHY DOESN'T IT "UNLOCK" ALSO ON THE "Spektrum PROGRAMMER" ON THE COMPUTER??? I have already asked this question to many people both here in these "CZcams Tutorials" and also to SPEKTRUM's own "Technical Support", and..... NO RESPONSE, FROM ANYONE AT ALL. Weird is not it???

hello - is there a way to now reprogram the receiver with a RTF DX6 transmitter? or do you need a transmitter with a screen.

I asked but received no reply from Spectrum. My laptop has windows 11. I have tried to download the program but it doesn't seem to download. Any suggestions?

That rx is really a 7ch , the hidden 7ch is for doing reverse thrust
