Marcello Clerici, spia fascista e docente di filosofia, è promesso a Giulia, ragazza gioviale e solare, l'esatto opposto di lui. Marcello è, infatti, tormentato da un tragico episodio accaduto quando aveva tredici anni, quando aveva ucciso Lino Seminara, autista che aveva cercato di avere con lui un rapporto sessuale. I really like to learn about movies and I came after Lawrence Sher mentioned on a essay about his cinematography in Joker..seriously cinematography is a beautiful and exciting part in films and underrated one.
There’s no Coppola’s The Godfather without this.
Down to the slightly underexposed shots, playing with shadows and shapes, bright colors and lights in dark environments. Even the main theme song draws some connections in how it sounds but also in the way it is placed throughout the movie and how it comes back during some of the more important or dramatic moments of the film

Bertolucci spotted brando in paris ,by total cance, in an hotel. Asked him to do last tango in paris. Brando said no. Bertolucci said, fair enough, would u at least look at my newest movie (il conformista)?. Brando says k. He watched it overnight on some early reeels and next day says the movie is gorgeous and im gonna do whatever.
So They shoot last tango, show an early copy to coppola and to paramount , coppola says omg we have to have brando! . That' s what odeseris is citing. There is literally no brando revival without bertolucci and even more literally no last tango without brando being mesmerized by il conformista and changing his mind
@@claudiam2474 Yeah maybe so! OP never mentioned Brando so that wasn't a thought that crossed my mind. Maybe we are both right? Thanks for a different perspective and knew knowledge behind this film. I've recently shown a great interest in cinema since my hometown has an art house theater, I always love hearing other perspectives and learning!
