    I love that you layered the 2 sizes and painted it a rust color. It looks more rustic. I made this with my grand children Thanksgiving and mad the white

    Everybodys making these just using zip ties. They hold strong, dont show, and are so much easier and faster than all that glue and wire. I had not thought to combine the two sizes in one snowflake. Thank you for that idea.

    I've seen just a single snowflake done with zip ties. It's so much easier to make. Love the two layers!!!

      Thanks, I have seen the one done with zip ties, but they seem to have the problem of not laying straight.

    I have watched several of these and wondered what would happen if you used 2 sizes. I clicked on yours and voila! I love the complexity and the unifying color! It does look like a metal sculpture!! Thank you for sharing!!

      @@Salmonde_At_Home you really inspired me with this one. I went out and purchased black hangers. I made this and it is outside my front door of my home and I absolutely love it! And I'm going to leave it up year-round! Cuz it does look like wrought iron. And since it's made of plastic hangers it will do well Outdoors here in Florida. I also use the black zip ties and there was nothing to do but hang it up and enjoy it! Thank you

    I don't understand why you didn't use all the same large hangers on the base. To me it just looks odd that the two opposing pairs are different than the other six pears. Other than that I love it love it love it!

      Thanks, I had two different hangers simply because I did not purchase enough when I was at the store and had to use a couple I had here at the house.

    Well, I have half of one done. I wasn’t very happy with it and I am going to go back and use hot glue like you did. I am also going to get the large hangers and make your version because I just love it. Thank you so much for sharing.

      I like the fact that if you don't tell people it's a snowflake you can keep it out all year.

      So glad to hear you enjoyed it. Did you use zip ties on yours? I have heard those really don't come out very well because they are so hard to adjust once you tighten them.

      @Salmonde_At_Home  Před 4 lety

      @Jeanne Myatt LOL, I definitely don't need winter all year round. And for those who want it out year round, I am sure it will pair nicely with the Christmas lights they have up in July.

    ABSOLUTELY Beautiful 👍👍
    I recently made a clothing hanger snowflake, but it never occurred to me to layer two different sizes of hangers.
    I also like the floral wire idea. I used zip ties and my snowflake is having a hard time to lie flat.
    Thank you for sharing with us 😊

      Puede usar cualquier tipo de percha que desee, solo asegúrese de tener 16 de cada tamaño si está haciendo un copo de nieve doble como lo hice yo.

      I hung a lovely pinecone wreath on the wall where there was a furnace vent in the floor. The hot glue melted and the whole thing fell apart. You might want to watch it carefully the first time you have a fire.

    In the opening image of the snowflake , is there a reason that two of your snowflake arms are different from the rest ?

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  Před 4 lety

      Great eye! The reason they are different is because I wasn't paying attention when I bought them and grabbed two different styles of hangers. I didn't realize it until I was putting the snowflake together. LOL.

      Zip ties will work but if you tighten them too much you will end up with a crooked product. Using wire give you room for adjustment when and where needed.

    I did use zip ties. I really did have a hard time with it. I am taking it apart 😡 and using wire and glue like you did. I want to look at it and be proud that I made something like that instead of looking at it and not liking it at all. Thanks again for sharing.

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  Před 4 lety

      So glad you liked it. I have heard the zip ties make it really hard to get a nice, flat piece when you are done. The right tools make all the difference.

    Will ziptyes work?

    • @darrellwolf5638
      @darrellwolf5638 Před 4 lety +1

      zip ties are a lot quicker, stronger and longer lasting.
      doesn’t hurt to spot glue with the hot glue, but the hit glue just drys on the surface and doesn’t penetrate, so it is just a bandaid to temp hold the pieces prior to wiring or zip ties.

      That would have been ideal, but the idea to make this a metal look (then a rusty metal look) grew as I was making the snowflake. The original idea was for a much lighter look and just evolved during the process.
