One of the best and most underrated artists of her time. Voice of an angel and oh my god what range! Her debut solo album is still one of my all time favourites.
She's ridiculously overlooked.
What a voice! What a song! One of the greatest love songs of all time and an icon of our generation. You can't tell me this doesn't pull on your heart strings, trigger nostalgia, make you yearn for your youth and cause you to lament over lost love and how things could have been. Unfortunately we can't change the past but we can take our music with us.

What a gal. Genius and so understated. Had the great good furtune to see Lone Justice and Maria solo, several times in the 90's. IMO, THE best live female vocal you will EVER hear.
One of the most amazing singers to come out of the 80's. To bad she never really got her due. Saw her awhile back at the Roxy in Hollywood. totally blew me away. So talented, down to earth, funny and beautiful. All that in that tiny package!

She's still amazing and memories of Lone Justice at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano still resonate.

omg the negative comments come from people who have no ear for music or dont know real talent when they hear it. pretty sure they jump from song to song to make those types of comments. maria is as beautiful today as always and her voice is heaven

This is pretty crazy! She picks up her axe and tells us she doesn't do this song very often. Then she kills it! It sounds like someone must have done a run down before this, right? How do you get it so right when you haven't done it very often? It's unfair there is this much talent in one body and voice! All these years later she can still captivate a room!

back in the 80's after listening to a tape of her that i kept playing over and over again till it broke I thought it would be easy to find but no one knew what i was talking about i went to Sam the record man everywhere and finally got somebody to order it but would take a few days and i kept hearing all her songs in my head counting the days till i finally got the call that my tape was in , i rushed over and ran back home and played it all night long , I Love her and she still has it and still looks great. took me a year to get the song show me heaven. i saw her video for a few minutes and thought she sounded so wonderful. i also might have fallen in love with her at that very moment but i'm admitting nothing here. anyways, i tried to memorize the artist and song name but then forgot. luckily, i caught it playing more than once on the radio and when i got the name and title, i went to buy the cassette. but no one knew the song.
once, even, i went to the cassette store and asked for maria mckee's show me heaven, they argued, "do you mean mariah carey?" i said, no! then the guy went inside and came out and i was kinda feeling relief that he actually got it until he gave me the cassette... it's mariah carey's album.
damn it.
it was until a friend of mine played on his walkman guns n' roses' knockin' on heaven's door and saw on the list that it wasn't actually a guns n roses album but a soundtrack. and right under guns n' roses song was show me heaven by maria mckee.
funny thing is, i knew the song by guns n roses, everyone was all about it at that time. and i never went to see it but heard of days of thunder, i was too little to be allowed to go to the cinema alone. never thought show me heaven was from the movie tho and that it's listed right under the song knockin' on heaven's door.
i bought two. one i played till it was broken, the other i kept sealed. also got the single from a friend who was visiting the US, it's got the 12" ultrasound version unheard of else where.
You was bloody clever, listening to this during the Eighties, seeing as it didn't come out 'til the early Nineties. o.o
1986, driving from Nashville to NC mountains with a friend whod just gotten the 'Shelter' cassette. He put it in my custom player in my Honda Civic, and we listened to nothing else for the whole six hours. Captivating, inspiring art, of which I've never tired. Thanks, Maria McKee and Lone Justice!
