Grant Hill was the only guy that Pip couldn't hold. And the more I watch MJ as I get older the more I how psychological his game was. Any game is about keeping your opponent off balance and you could never forsee what MJ was gonna do, other than dominate whoever was in front of him. Was he going to drive, shoot, pass, drive and then pull up, fake the backdoor cut and then post up and seal? Even that fadeaway vs Grant where he started to spin and then slowed down as if he was gonna do something else only to continue to spin, jump, and shoot the fadeaway while Grant was preparing for a different move...poetry
actually wrong. penny was giving pippen( given pippen was still in his prime) such a hard time in those few years. what i meant is that they were both fantastic ball handlers with a lot of skills in one on one situation that even a top tier defender like pippen wouldnt be able to hold.
if you wanna go further back then bird used to school pippen like jordan would school everyone in his career. no doubt pippen was one of the best perimeter defenders ever but no one in the history can completely shut down another player in a daily basis.

That '96 Bulls team was so complete. They had size, great rebounders, fantastic defenders, shooters, hustle, athleticism, and versatility; all bases were covered. I hated the Bulls, but I can't deny their capabilities.

MVP Pau Gasol Jordan's fade-away was a go to weapon in clutch and desperate situations, you have no idea how effective it was. In The Seattle Finals Series it was shocking how demoralized the Sonics became from their inability to stop Jordan and his Fadeaways. You would also be surprised at how consistent he became with them. Sounds like you have no idea. Jordan shot a Fade-away with perfect mechanics and fundamental technique, to him it was as good as a normal jump-shot, except you couldn't stop it.
You might be right about the faseaway shot in general, but Jordan could pull it off, and people who watched him play knew it. And people who played against him, certainly knew it.

For instance, we now have information on the marksmanship of players on fadeaway jumpers whereas those details are not available for Jordan’s final seasons.
Nonetheless, the graphic gives an indication to Jordan’s superior shooting prowess on jumpers in comparison with modern-day superstars. Hence, defenders simply could not sag off on the former North Carolina player during his post-ups.
There is no way to say exactly what percentage of those jump shots were fadeaways, but we all know he took many as that was one of his most often used weapon/tool. And we can see by the numbers how accurate he was in comparison to modern shooters who benefit from far more spacing. Even if his fadeaways % were slightly lower than his overall jump shot percentage it is still high compared to others normal jump shots %. And he used it to great affect.
So if Jordans fade-away is more accurate than others regular jump-shots not sure what planet your from, but on this planet that is called a reliable go to shot and an unstoppable one at that.

They don't remember the brick after brick when he's not HOT. Kobrick is a 44% FG shooter for his career and a 32% 3pt for his career. Enough said!!!

Also, Hill's defense was never really good like guys like MJ, LeBron, and T-Mac. Left a lot to be desired. That alone takes him out of GOAT talks.
Hill and Penny might be the most overrated players in NBA history regarding what could've beens. They were great, no doubt, but didn't even show Derrick Rose like potential before their injuries. If there's any player that truly could've been a top 10 player all time, it was D Rose.

Keep in mind this is back when u could actually touch the man ur guarding. Today's NBA player can't hand check thus allowing more penetration. Modern defenses combat this by having interior big men collapses to help. This results in endless kick outs and a game that's turned into nothing more than a three pt shooting contest.

Pippen was a great one-on-one defender, but many superstars ate him for breakfast from time to time. The same can not be said for Jordan. RARELY ever did someone score 25 or more against him.

+adeleke adewale You take things too literally. Every basketball team is going to settle for jump shots but when it makes up a really huge percentage of your offense like these GSW, it's going against the fundamentals of the game.
GSW might be able to get away with it now because of the 3 second rules, lack of dominant big men and all other rules that benefits perimeter players. Many critics and fans just feel cheated that the best team today doesn't even need to be as all rounded or multi-dimensional as their predecessors. The best team of today should be able to dominate the post, the paint to get higher percentage shots while putting opponents into foul trouble and pair it up with a great perimeter game so that it'd be as multi-dimensional as possible and great for the fans and basketball purist. There's no way those Warriors would have lost 2 games to those depleted Cavaliers if they were actually great in all facets of the game.
If you're jump shooting all the time, your team is basically gonna have a much lower chance of getting an offensive rebound and you also lose an opportunity to draw a foul to gain extra tactical advantage over your opponent but if you're trying to score as close to the basket as you can possibly get, not only do you get a higher chance of converting your shot attempt, you get more chances to draw a foul from your opponent and also a better chance of obtaining offensive rebounds. It's just sad for the NBA to be dwindling in field goal percentage from all areas besides 3 point line and the average 3 point shooting percentage is around 35 percent. And the three point attempts has almost tripled in comparison with the NBA from 20-30 years ago, so the viewers and fans of today are rarely ever gonna watch a game with more makes than misses. It's definitely not a basketball game that purists would pay to watch.

I'm convinced there are fadeaway's from Kobe, KD, LBJ, Kawhi, and there is Jordan's fadeaway. He's listed at 6'6 and doing it against a 6'8 player. He was basically Steph Curry open 3's inside the 3 pt arc, if there was one team I wish that could have played the Warriors was this Bulls team, and IMO Warriors would have swept them too with Jordan being the only scoring option. Just cause players are bigger, stronger and faster..more versatile.. Draymond and Dennis Rodman would cancel each other out, Pippen no way could guard KD as good as he was on D, no stopping Klay or Steph for sure.

In the 90's Grant Hill was more popular than MJ, he led All-star games w/ the most votes behind him and had numerous endorsement deals.
Hill was the better all-around player than Jordan. MJ had 29 career triples doubles and Grant Hill had 23 triple doubles in just 2 seasons. 1 year he represented the NBA by recording 35% of all the triple doubles for that season.
Grant Hill was quicker than Jordan, slightly less athletic, but Hill was very athletic himself. Jordan nor Pippen could guard Grant Hill, he was too BIG and too STRONG for either of them. He and Pippen revolutionized the term of point forward for players, like LBJ23 today.
Hill is the only player along w/ Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor to lead his team in every major statistical category. He is also the only player, besides Wilt Chamberlain to do it more than once in their careers - both did it thrice.
After the first six seasons of his career, before his ankle injury, Hill had a total of 9,393 points, 3,417 rebounds, and 2,720 assists. Oscar Robertson and Larry Bird are the only two players in league history to eclipse these numbers after their first six seasons.
He is a 7x All-star (1 of which he deserved and made after his injury) and a 5x All-NBA player. All he was missing is a Scottie Pippen that MJ had. If they would have stayed together Pistons could have won championships and the comparison between Hill and Jordan would be simpler to make.

Yes i will agree that MJ has been put on a "god" level of greatness and in a sense he is overrated.
I accept this reality, but i still put him above everyone that has played so far, current and past.
Perhaps in the future we will see the next "Michael Jordan" He has yet to show himself.
As for Lebron, i consider him a top 10 player, he might crack the top 5 list soon, but the bus has left in concerns to him ecplising MJ in my opinion.
