Vocalist = Also fucked 😂
It is not that this bass line is particularly hard. The thing is it never stops. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Nice.
it’s a marathon where ur constantly sprinting
Indeed. It is kinda monotonous but literally very demanding 😂
it is VERY fast
@@HelloStreetCatRepostsit’s like 92 bpm
It stops at the chorus wym
just joined a new band and they said we're playing this song at a gig and im like ok how hard can it be.. Fuck Me
LOL
you're fucked mate xD
good motivation i guess
+Mojo Matters i'm in a band at college and we doing gig soon and they said we gonna play this song and i'm going to be fucked! why this song? just play plug in baby! ahhhhhhhhhh! anyone help!!!!!!!!
+S.J.K just practice. I used to think I would never play it, now I can
after 1,5 year i finally played this song without a single mistake and its the best feeling ever
congrats! 😄
The next level is The Pot by TOOL
It’s like beating a Dark Souls boss (but more cool imo) lol congrats tho! Maybe I’ll beat the Hysteria boss too one day 💀
@@JoseHernandez-wk5td nah that's easy
@@terremotoraptor how about Rosetta Stoned then
Don't give up guys, it becomes easier when you memorize the melody line
well your fingers will also get used to it, don't worry
Yes. I thought, this Will very hard. But not at all.
Yea I’m 12 and I learned this in an hour
Yep, same in every song :D
@@cashlane458 memorized it in an hour but i doubt you could learn the entire song in an hour

That’s not a workout. That’s a suicide method. Fucking arm paralysis.

u gonna star working out your foreskin when playing this song at gigs bro
His hands probably rose 15 degrees Celsius after this.
fahrenheit??? Boy, I would say Celsius!!
GonTar TC 15 degrees Celsius is cold
C'est Bastien
15 Fahrenheit is even colder!
Calm ur ass down it's not hard
czcams.com/video/lNevBUTuTPI/video.html see this, she can play even faster
I think this is a great song to learn as a beginner because even though you won't play it perfectly, it really enforces good plucking technique and is a great warmup for both hands (I say this as a beginner).
Yeah I was just about to comment this, btw nice pfp 😎
I think it’s mainly good because, apart from the chorus, it stays on the same string for a while before switching, so you really focus on your plucking like you said
Use pick

I call this song the finger parallyzer.
+Ignacio Alvarez
Panic Attack is easy, have you ever played Orion by Metallica?
+Catbug “v.” Orion is way easier
Boss Leprechaun
Really? Because my fingers say otherwise.
+Catbug “v.” I disagree. :)
+RoboStanley
Well, different people have different tolerances. For me, Panic Attack is much easier than Orion, but it may be different for others. In this case, we can agree to disagree.
lol after a half minute in the song i get cramps in my fingers...
great cover love the distortion.
Mishka Andersen You can go a minute and a half though. My hands give in after, like, 3 reps of the main riff.
***** Just train.. you'll soon be able to pull it of . I can play it like 5 times in a row without cramps.
just be relaxed in your hand, dont push it.
i know! xD its so weird because now i have learned Tool songs and facking primus but this song still is god damn hard to me :-) but yeah i think its a fun song on bass no matter how much my hand hate it xD
Mishka Andersen
While tool songs are pretty delicious for bass players, most of them aren't as hard as this one.
i didn't think so too just some heck long songs from tool, while this is on only 3 min :-)
I adore the fact that he makes it look so effortless and easy to play. Well done.
Well that's the key, you have to move your fingers effortlessly and make minimum movement
lol ik but his face might be all 😬
Most of his videos are like that, this guy is powerful
Good technique makes it look effortless. You need to be relaxed and don't move your hands more than you need to
I just nailed this song last Night! YEAAAAA!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOO!
Mark Reyes I know this is over a year late, but congratulations
Now just do the ladies a favor and don't finger any of them
2 years late on this but i guess you can proudly own the title of “pussy destroyer”
Gg ! :D
nice job man
Proof that bassists need to have the most stamina
the bass in most songs is nowhere near this fast or difficult
Gazza the Gazz drummer. Drummer need the most stamina
yup

Srsly? What about the drummer?

This was one of my first harder songs to play, I made a lot of mistakes at first, mainly because I started playing it as a beginner, but it got better with time, less and less mistakes the more practice I put in. Highly motivational song for me, shows me that everything is possible with a little work
how were your fingers?
ケムエ unfortunately, silky smooth rn, as I don't have a bass with metal strings anymore, but a U-bass with rubber strings, they're much comfier with the fingers, but I miss that raunchy and sore feeling of freshly destroyed fingertips...
@@mihutz98 how long did it take you to learn this as a beginner?
Ssimms 8 I don't really remember, it was one of those songs that I started doing very little of in the beginning, to make progress with as I got better technique and speed in general. I think it was about 1-2 months in total
@@ssimms8995 I've been playing bass for about half a year now, and this song took me about 1 - 2 weeks to fully learn
This song is the reason i picked up a bass guitar. 11 years later, haven't played this song in years...
100% playthrough first try, muscle memory is amazing!
*me, a one week bass player* um...
hehe xd how funny and original mate
You wrote this a year ago, how is your bass playing doing now?
Harry Mäe give us an update my dude
Me too, m8. Me too
Lmao same
What is up guys! :D
I've practicing this song for about a week and I can finally play the first 10 seconds, thank you everyone for the support! :D
hows it goin rnnn
Did you ever finish learning it??
if you can play the first 10 seconds you can pretty much play the entire thing
update pls!!
Can't tell if this is ironic or not cause it's comprehensive 😂😂, kinda did the same thing when I learned this song
The hardest thing of this is that neither the drummer or the bass can loose the tempo. You don't have a chance to recover it. You need a great drummer like Dom to play it live
I had my playback speed at 2x from a previous video and i nearly had a heart attack before i realized..
OH MY GOD I PUT IT AS 2× AND I CANT BREATHE
I almost had a heart attack from the original speed
Put it on 0.25 and omf its trippy
Okay but try it at .75 - it sounds pretty dope
this bass line that made me fall in love with MUSE, awesome song, very worth to learn
WHY DID THE GUITARIST IN MY BAND HAVE TO RECOMMEND THIS IT’S TO O H A R D
try with metronome 85% speed first, then crank it up until you are in 95/98 bpm, this song is in 93 but you don't want to play it live at the top of your capacity do you?
totally relatable
Because it's easy on guitar
You must not hunger for this.
So sad.
Don’t worry u got it
One of the best bass lines in rock history
Guys it's the same 16 counts over and over and then a another set of 16 and that's really it. Just slow it down, learn it and then speed it up.
Vilma Salamanca exactly!
You do understand there is a thing called stamina ? Right? so it's not just it.
Ishan Dave I can already feel the cramps...
Ishan Dave But like... it's a rather simple pattern if you know basic musical skills and when you've practiced an instrument enough stamina becomes less of a problem especially when it isn't THAT hard.
you see there are a few things I would like to share
1.building stamina needs time like a lot of time months( years sometimes) I primarily play drums so I can explain it in drum terms easily everyone can play double bass but playing double bass for 5 mins straight requires a lot of practice, its painful and singles on double bass is like the easiest pattern.
2.Quality matters a lot if someone sounds sloppy I don't they have the right to say a particular piece is easy.
can you play the entire song without getting sloppy?
I love how people say “it’s not that hard”. It doesn’t have to be hard to play to be a freaking ridiculously written masterpiece of music. Wolstenholme's is a brilliant composer.
as a bassplayer this is probably my favourite riff of all time
I feel my hand cramping just from watching this lol
Marble144 i haven't been able to play bass in like 4 to 5 months now and omg this still hurts to think about this song
*Laughs in computer games*
*Laughs in fapping*
Everybody: "ugh my fingers cramp after half the song"
Me: *Laughs in years of computer games*
*Cries in wasted hours*
Bruh all my right hand does is wave a mouse around dramatically
As an OSU player who plays mouse only, while I definitely can't play this very well at least my fingers don't get tired at all from this so I can just keep practicing :D
listen basically all of my lifelong hobbies involve things that make my hands cramp and i started learning this and i think i might be paralyzed in the hands now anyway
Started learning bass for 2 months, learning this song for 1 month now.
2 weeks: Learned the whole intro
3 weeks: Increasing the speed. Starting from 50%.
1 month: Can finish intro in 85% speed
After 7 years of playing I finally accomplished playing at 1.25x speed, Crazy after hearing this song for the first time and thinking it would be impossible. Never stop playing!
I finally did it, I've played bass for a year now and been trying to play this entire song for half a year and I finally did it
My hand hurt
After weeks of practice, I think I finally got the hang of this song! As a beginner bassist (I've had my bass for a month and a half) this is the hardest song I've played, glad I got it done :)
PLAYED THE HOLE THING AND CANT FEEL MY WRIST!!!! );
The important question is, why are you using your wrist?
-
Phijkchu Shuckle coz i got pains all down my hand from playing so much and i couldn't feel my wrist xD
Jago Bouffler That sounds worrying. Is it ok now?
Phijkchu Shuckle yeh xD just ached for little bit, but this was ages ago, thanks tho
I've been playing for 7 months now, and this is a great song to learn if you're still a beginner like me. It's fast and a great finger warm up. If you memorize the bassline, and with much practise, you can do it!!
A big issue when people try to learn this is that they are going to fast, the tempo is actually a decent speed so if you learn to play at the right tempo(which is slower) I promise you will get it.
True, a lot of people see sixteenth notes and jump the gun and rush the tempo
Hold my beer I got this

Geddy lee
second time i’ve seen this and still one of the funniest things i’ve seen
When Chris plays this song live, he makes it seem much easier than it actually is. Just keep practicing guys!
This was my first “hard” song that I learned on bass. Of course I now know it’s actually extremely easy but I felt like a stud when I first learned it.
The actual bassline is easy. But playing this song well the whole way through is a sign that you're getting somewhere as a bassist, because this is a very fast line and you play it for the whole song. Takes a lot of endurance.
It’s most definitely not extremely easy 🤣🤣 what planet are you on. Smoke on the water is extremely easy. Not this
@@SuperDouginator This is a slight step up from smoke on the water. I really don’t think they’re super different. Once you play some Iron Maiden or old Metallica and Megadeth, stuff like this looks like child’s play.
Honestly I'm a guitarist but this makes me want to play bass
You also need a fuzz pedal
I tried this today and was able to learn it within an hour! It feels so good once you get it. I have background in violin though so the left hand dexterity was there
I'm just starting the bass so I've been watching a lot of bass covers to get myself more into it. Every song I've looked up, you've done. Awesome job!!!

I love that even as a novice on bass, I can just tell by ear where the opens are in this riff. Amazing tab work
After 1 month of practicing I could finally play the intro!
Finally all those hours pretending my fingers were sonic may pay off..
Bird Person waloo
Same, except it wasn't to practice to play bass. :^(
Dude, your special bar is full, press "select" to use it and make the score x8
Will I ever be able to play this shit? ;_; Can't even get through first 10 seconds without making mistakes
+Mitar Zecevic You'll be able soon Just practice
+CoverSolutions do you think somebody should have to learn guitar before bass, even though they've already learned some on the bass? my dad made me get a guitar instead of a bass even though I've already learned some on my friends bass
+CoverSolutions i have practiced for about `,5 hours now and i can do the main intro stuff at 80-90% speed :))))))))))))))) awesome song and cover!!
+joost boereboom 1,5* hours
+Mitar Zecevic Practice buddy ! practice
The bass in this song is amazing!
the bass line in this song is so insane
Jesus H.
This is one epic baseline.
How would you even start creating something this magnificent?
Kudos Chris!
I'm a guitarist but I desperately wanna learn bass. I'm scared I'm overconfident about bass and think I can play it right away since I play guitar lol (probably not gonna happen). Will buy one soon and give it a try.
Always good to try something new
I am a guitarist and bought one a few months ago. It's tough, you'll discover new kinds of pain :-)
Probably have a bass by now but if not, dont feel intimated. Bass is rough for a short bit and then you get a feel for it. After, when you go back to guitar you will find guitar a lot more easy too
@@jamesblackwood1465 I also love that feeling when you switch from the bass to the guitar, it feels like butter.
Depends on what you play. For pop songs bass is usually easier than guitar but some just need so much stamina on bass
been learning this for monthsss and i finally managed to play it all in one go at a slower speed the other day. ive been plying bass for almost a year now
Dude that was sick! I'm working on it part by part. I've never been know for my speed. Great video!
Canciones como estás hace que este tan enamorado del bajo y quiera aprender a tocarlo, maravilloso trabajo
Holy shit. This is definitely the next song I'm gonna spend 3 weeks practicing every day. Let's goooooo
This was the first song I decided to learn on bass and oh my gosh as a new player saying I was frustrated was an understatement 😅 I'm so happy I kept at it though cause now I can play it
Wow! That was the cleanest bass cover ever! Great work
I’ve been playing bass for about a year now, and practicing this riff slowly has been a lot of fun. Although I know it will take me a long time to get this fast, it’s really enjoyable just playing the riff and practicing placement and timing 🥰
My band wants to do a cover of this... But I'm the bassist and singer...
Geus imma just die now
How did your dead go?
LMAO the singer too 😂😂😂😂
me after five months of practising this: almost got it almost got it...
I’ve learned this bassline today and can play it kinda fluently at about 80% speed and it’s really satisfying to play when you nail it!
I love this bassline and gradually learnt it from a tab. I've always played finger style (never could get the hang of using a pick - always ends up flying across the room!), so the eighth notes were not a problem. It's usually the fret hand pinky that causes mild RSI when I play, so a gentle warm-up is a must before you tackle this, or indeed anything else you play.
Imagine Cliff Burton playing this
i think it would be really ez for him
Just think about the pussy of Cliff Burton's girlfriend if he lived today... god bless her...
Hell yeah
He would do it in 32nd notes 😂
for him its just a practice drill
Looks easy after you get it down. PLAY MEGADETH HOLY WARS
Picked up bass for the first time 5 months ago. Today I played this song perfectly for the first time. So psyched!!
Thanks again CS for tabbing this thing out, it quickly became one of my favorite songs to play, and got me to branch out into more of their music. So far I've learned Reapers, Time is Running Out, Hysteria, Panic Station, and Uprising, and I'm working on New Born, but good lord that song gives my left hand cramps. Hysteria never tires my left hand out, but Jesus Christ New Born does it every single time and I cannot figure out why.
This song builds stamina in both hands.
I can't stop looking at his pinky lmfaooooo
I was just browsing and decided "you know what, I wanna learn hysteria" So I find this, and I see that I have the exact same bass, and I can say 'this base FREAKING ROCKS!!! (...Literally...) and awesome vid man, got this nailed in about 2 hours XD
At first I thought it would take days for me to master the song, even having 5 months of experience, but I managed to learn it in a couple of hours. Still difficult and keep up the work because your videos are great.
i can finally play the entire song!!! my left hand feels a bit numb but i can do it!
*pulls out ukulele*
just played this all the way through for the first time. feels great.
Really great playing. Truly enjoyed watching.
This is why the bass is such a great instrument - but is to often played realy boring.
SO FCKIN AMAZING!
you’re very skilled, thank you so much for the tabs and covers!
Bro, that was fricken sick and so clean like Mr. Cleans head. I’m a new fan of your amazing skills bud. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Beginning bassist here. This helped me immensely. Thanks!
Why did it take so long for me to finally find this song. What a fun one to play.
Guitarists: Tapping is the hardest thing to do in a band
Drummer: You're underestimating drumrolls
Vocalist: Have you guys ever tried to sing Monkey Wrench?
Bassist: Have you ever played THIS- and don't you forget about slap
True on Monkey Wrench, I think the only time Dave did the whole screaming bridge is when he got 'Kiss Guy' to play guitar 😂😂😂
Woke up wishing I had blisters on my fingers. This outta do it
I FINALLY GOT IIIITTTTTT >__< Thanks a bunch CoverSolutions!!
Thank you, I couldn't play the part when he says "And I'm breaking out" and all that, but now I know the little technique you use :3
brutal!!!
Guitarists: lol how hard could that be?
until they try playing it on a bass
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. i slowed it down to .5 and im almost perfect playing it now, just gotta get my speed back up!
One of the best bass lines ever written.
The thing is, the bass line repeats throughout the song. What’s hard is the fact that you have to play all that without stopping, and learning the riff at first is difficult 😂
Guitar player: Hey I like this song can you play the bass line?
Yesterday me: sure I’ll be fine I’m a pro
Today me: WhY Did GOd MAkE suCH A FReakInG hArD SoNg!!!
i'm too amaze by the finger movement... it's amazing
Absolute awesome playing lad. Spot on.
Finally i can play that song
1 year and 8 months
I think Hysteria is certainly good for bass beginners like me to start with, it's not that hard. Thanks for your cover.
I looked at this video a year ago and thought it would take me so long to be able to learn and I just looked at it and it’s not the worst
Love this bass track. I'm a freak, I only have a fretless, play with a plec, and play by ear. I do pretty well at picking up most tunes but this is the one that I have to master as it will give me the most pleasure.
