its the way they're doing it. it has nothing to do with changing genres. ether they are trying to sound like them and failing or they are changing the mood of the song. like changing a horror film to a family film.

Unrelated but the direction Lavigne went in...such a shame because despite being a fairly over-produced album in terms of its layering (some songs have 8-9 separate guitar layers in the track!), Let Go is a masterpiece.

      1. You didn't even say the original artist, Dead or Alive, helps your case.
      2. Right Round- Flo Rida, You Spin Me (Right Round)- Dead or Alive, not a cover, just a sample. Flo Rida is/was notorious for taking 80's, 90's and Avicii mixes as samples and turning them into cash hogs; dude's set for life now using other people's music and rapping/singing *shivers* over it. But that's rappers for you.

After all, it is the song of The Arrows. d) How is Britney's version bad? It is more soulful and listenable than some of the cover version Metallica recorded on Garage Inc. The way they covered Black Sabbath sounded awful. e) Do you understand that Britney is perhaps the most important female artist of the 90's besides Mariah? You can hear her influence almost on every female artist of the 2000's.
