Proper CARE And FEEDING for PIGLETS| AVOID PIGLET DEATH

Most times, we think of ways to make pigs healthy and bigger forgetting that the development of pigs is dependent on how they are raised right from birth. Thus when piglets are born, it is important to provide good care for them to ensure survival of every piglet in the litter.
In this video I give detailed information on all the necessary steps you have to take to ensure that every piglet is safe. Also asides providing care, I also hit on preparing nutritious feed for young piglets before they are given starter feed.

When you said we don't use maize bran in Creep Feed Formulation but rather maize and the others. Please, what do you mean? Isn't maize bran from maize? Pardon my confusion, if that's the case and explain.

Let me break it down. In mixing feed, each ingredient has a portion that is added. Maize bran is a filler and since we get an amount of maize bran from maize, we do not need extra amount of actual maize bran.
Note here, we’re feeding young piglets who cannot even consume a little amount of feed so why would we need a large amount of an ingredient that acts as a filler?. Thus the maize bran content in the maize we’re adding to the creep feed is enough, no need for extra maize bran.

No please. The quantity of maize should be greater than maize bran. Because maize bran contains more fibre and it also provides low energy which isn’t good as pigs require higher energy. Maize bran is added in moderate amount just to help pigs release waste easily .

Piglet feeding is very important, especially in the early stages. It is harder for a malnourished pig to be made normal again. I advise that piglets are fed very well balanced meals to enable them maintain a healthy growth rate right from birth.
