Tezgam 8DN | The Arrival & Departure at Lahore Junction | Winter Afternoon | Pakistan Railways

- I was on Lahore Junction on 8-Jan-2019 to receive a friend at Lahore Jn who was coming from 7UP. However 7UP was late but 8DN was on time. So I shot 8DN's arrival and then its departure from Lahore Junction.
From Rawalpindi to Lahore, Tezgam is lead by ZCU-20 loco as it has fewer coaches and from Lahore, the Lahore quota coaches are added making the rake of more than 16 coaches so ZCU-30 loco is called for the duty.
In this video, there are also two narrow incidents.. On DN's arrival, a hasty uncle getting off the moving train almost collided with the pillar and during departure, two aunties boarded the train mistaking it to be 7UP.. so they got off from moving train and people on the train helped them to throw their luggage. A close call though but luckily nothing bad happens. Watch it now to find out!!

Excellent video...was wondering you haven't done any videos of Khyber Mail...I love the red Pakistan post coach in it...and if possible can you get video of inside of that coach. It's been a childhood curiosity.
Thank you. I have made a few videos of Khyber Mail. Recently I posted one at Kana Kacha Lahore and another at Kot Radha Kishen. I will try to make inside video of mail coach but its difficult due to security reasons.
@@PakRailography Thanks. One other suggestion. If you get a chance, see if you can capture something at the Tarki mor station. Because of the curve it is sometimes possible to see two trains coming from opposite directions. But most of all stay safe. I know it must be hard work. Best of luck.
I have Tarki in mind since long. I will go there once the weather gets a little bearable as I will have to go on my motorcycle from Lahore :)

Thank you for kind words. We do hope also for electrified sections and electric locomotives but for the time being it seems very difficult. Till then our system will be backed by diesel locos.

Huge maintenance is needed......as it is one of the biggest city in pakistan ,the condition is so poor...so just imagine small village and city ka kya haalat hoga

Funny, man jumped off moving train and then nearly head on into a pole! Value! Just watching the "people scenes" at Lahore Junction also very entertaining, lot of manual labour still in use (handcarts etc). The men with handcarts, are they licensed luggage porters? We used to have them at Sydney Central up until the late 1970's. The old men meeting and chatting, very captivating. Was wondering why the men threw the ladies luggage off the train, a little bit rude. Great video as usual Sufian. 10/10.
The ladies boarded on wrong train so he helped them to get offloaded at last minute. And yes these porters in red uniform are govt licensed and the ones in civil dress are employees for private contractor

What is business class and economy class? Do all the coaches hv sleeper facility and do the Pak railway have Airconditioned sitting coaches for three hour or four hour travel distances? Lahore being a very big city very less people in station and platform ? Why is that ?

Business class is AC class having cabins of 6 people. Economy class doesn't have AC but have 6 person cabin without door. For short distance railcars, ac standard have sitting coaches (just like bus). And Hammad is right, I made the video from both the ends of platform to capture full train. The main platform (#2) is very big and very busy most of the time. The platform visible in this earlier part of video is #3 which is only used for small passenger trains to nearby stations.

What is Pakistan Railway's experience with chinise diesel loco ?
We have purchased two types of locomotives from China.. First is DPU series of 3k and 2k hp locos and Second is ZCU series of 3k and 2k locos. DPU purchase was a disaster and all of them are now standing in shed waiting for major overhauling. However, the 2nd purchase of ZCU locomotives is awesome. They are excellent in working and have CAT diesel engine. They are in service since 2014 and working perfectly. Apart from these two imports from china, Most of our locomotives are imported from USA like General Electric, ALCO etc.

Right now no electrified route. There was Khanewal to Lahore section electrified before but abandoned since last decade due to incompetent railway minister at that time. Now the whole infrastructure will have to be done from scratch. Till them diesel locos are the lifeline of Pakistan Railways.

Yes bro the train on upward journey is UP train, and the Downward journey train is DN train.. For example, 7up is Tezgam (Karachi to Rawalpindi) and 8DN is Tezgam (Rawalpindi to Karachi).
For easy understanding, karachi is at sea level and rest of cities gradually at some hight from sea level. So toward karachi is downward and from karachi is upward.

I hope they introduce more color schemes. One reason which I can think of that due to shortage of coaches, they interchange with different trains so they keep a same color scheme.

Previously Lahore to Khanewal section was electrified but several years ago was abandoned in tenure of incompetent railway minister. Since then all operations are on diesel locomotives.
