‘Columbia’ was one of the first Oasis songs to be written and was originally released as a now legendary white label 12”. This new release, mixed for the first time by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho, weighs in at an epic 7 minutes 18 seconds, dwarfing the 6 minutes of the album original.

Well… Chris Griffiths (The Real People) wrote the verses, Liam wrote the chorus lyrics, Noel wrote one line of the second verse lyrics, the band wrote the music as a walk on instrumental for Liam when they where The Rain. Chris Griffiths settled out of court for two of the 3 accounts Noel screwed him over on song writing credits and he got a credit on Rocking Chair but only on the music tablature not the actual record it’s self.
Noel needs to give credit where credit is due with the song. Shocking like.

hehe i was there ;) just a teenager at school - this was my childhood, still remember heading into wolverhampton hmv to buy this on release date along with manic street preachers holy bible at the same time
And who knew co-written by Liam Gallagher and Chris Griffiths of the Real People - but a great version, Liam's falsetto and Noel's guitar playing, with (I assume) Tony's drumming - amazing.

Personally I found him better than Alan white. I found Alan used the same type of drum fill which is used on the swamp song. Both good but Tony never deserved the slating he god. I personally prefer him then and still do now

There is no other band that’s caused a stir in music than oasis. Some people loved them and others were wrong to hate them, cos they just didn’t understand the raw vocals and instruments of the band. Nothing was faked. Just great song writing and pure rock and roll. What a time to be alive

They did a few demos and then Oasis did the rest, even they themselves don't try and claim credits for everything but yet always comments about how The Real People made Oasis, a view taken from a few lines in the odd bio or documentary, bit odd.

Sonically this version sounds much more 2024. I’ve always thought this song is so underrated. I’m surprised no artist has sampled the ‘yeah yeah yeah’. Also surprised this hasn’t been used as ring entrance music by any mixed martial artists or boxers
