    I've always had an old 350 Chevy with a 650 double pumper Holley and a HEI distributor.... Runs perfect... Now I have this 350 TBI.... what a load of shit.... I rebuilt the engine. .. It idle perfectly... Had the problem before the engine was overhauled... when I want to accelerate... it is very sluggish and almost sounds like misfiring... Struggle to pass a Smart on the hi way... my 74 Camaro had more power... I replaced the injectors, overhauled the complete throtle body, replaced the EGR, EGR solinoid, MAP sensor, Idle jet, throtle position sensor, rotor, distribuler cap, plug leads, spark plugs, tempreture censor, electronic controle module... But still, no power.... must I replace the distributer as well? I am so sick of this TBI... Love my truck, but have the feeling to drive her as fast as she can run at this moment into a wall!!!!

    Nothing works better than the stock ignition on these trucks so use the stock ignition even if you put a different engine in them.

    I got a 1990 chevy C /K 1500 and it stutters, stall and idle high and idle low and dies right when I wanna take off, especially in reverse. It's 9:30 pm but I'm gonna go check it out right now...... been working on it all afternoon. Replaced the fuel pump, checked the fuel pump relay, all good. It will start, run rough, but run, till you stop and want to go again, then the sucker stall, dies and won't start again, only after you wait a while..... Let's hope this solve the problem

    • @vvsg6248

      Did it end up working?

    • @johannlangner289
      @johannlangner289 Před rokem +1

      No, ended up replacing the fuel pump and ignition coil and still wouldn't run. Checked everything else. Last thing I was gonna check is the fuel regulator, but It's my bosses truck, so he said, let's take it to a proper mechanic...... After 2 weeks, the "proper mechanic" couldn't fix it, he messed with it for a third week and then we went and got it. The mechanic said he replaced the spark plugs twice (probably had put the wrong kind in the first time) It runs ok, but we will see if the problem returns.... will keep you updated.

      @johannlangner289 Před rokem

      Oh and that idle air control valve, I took it out, looks ok, ish , was gonna get a new one for it as well.... That and the fuel regulator will be replaced if the problem returns

  • @newyork4198

    Were you having hard start issues as well? Mine takes literally 30’seconds of cranking (broken up of course) before she finally starts to catch. Then once she’s running, she stumbles a bit when I start accelerating, and then catches up and pulls.

    • @newyork4198
      @newyork4198 Před 3 měsíci

      Yes! Bad fuel pump.
      I didn’t think it could cause this kind of an issue, since tbi requires so little fuel pressure to run, but once I swapped it out, the truck fires right up.

    So you went with a factory distributor. Thats an ac delco? Im having the same issues when hot. I have a 95 yukon with 5.7 tbi. Ive replaced everything you have replaced i used an excell distributor. Been blowing ignition control modjules like crazy and stalling when hot at stops. I just am curious if u used an ac delco distributor.
